A yellow jacket might sting for no reason. I had a bumblebee on my hand eat some small bits of apple I had. I has even able to pet it! o_O It did not sting at all!
That's really fascinating. I've been stung by this species twice but its amazing to see that they can also be strangely friendly. I've also been stung by ants twice, and a bee once.
Great video! And it was awesome that you fed it some chicken!
This video was made in the middle east because I've been there and they have that OHhhhhh AHhhhhhhhhh Ahhh Ohhhhhh that you can here in the background sound of this video.
Thats too small to be a yellow jacket, the one you just fed was a common wasp. Common Wasp's are mini versions of their identical cousins, the yellow jackets. And also sir... you are awesome for hand feeding a common wasp without getting stung.
the muslim music puts them in a harmless confuzed state...like the flute does for a snake charmer!..lol....that music confuzes me too!..lol....can you get a vid of one droppin a turd on your finger?..lol
@greenchatreuse Thank you for your comment, and to have such deep feelings from just watching this video I could guess that you are highly spiritual and have a pure soul !
@ccsami, it is as if you were feeding a tiny bit of the Earth's spirit in your hand, definetely the chant empowers everything as if both of you (the wasp and you ) were lured into a trance. You were communicating with the wasp in a superior level. Maybe you did feet it. Oh, truly beautiful!
@ccsami, it is as if you were feeding an element's spirit in your hand. There is a sweet severeness that demands respect. I believe you were communicating with the wasp in a superior level and I also think the muslim chant lured you both into a trance to reach that level.
Once I was eating an apple outside and a bunch of yellow jackets got on it, so I held the apple still for a very long time. They crawled on my fingers too, enjoying the sweet juices of the apple.
Finally! Someone who understands me! I'm always the only one who's brave enough to carefully pick up a wasp in a classroom and let it fly out the window while getting yelled at a teacher! Thank you! :D lol
I remember in 1st grade we were all leaving for recess and without warning a Yellow Jacket latched to bottom part of my ear and stung me. I thought I had been shot.... Then I stepped on a 6inch nail years later. The difference was amazing.
u are very brave or that yellow jacket is so hungry not to care lol. is this in the desert?> they look just like the mean ones here that live in ground nest holes.
Yellow Jackets have one of the most painful stings and generally sting repeatedly. I've had a honey bee take sugar water from my hand, but that's as far I'll go!
I've been stung by just standing in an area where they were flying, I wasn't working a loud machine or even messing with one. They suck really really bad!
Kudos dude. I love bees/wasps, but was also born with spheksophobia (abnormal fear of bees and wasps) so I freak the fuck out whenever they're around me.
Spheksophobia. I gotta remember that word. I believe I have it, too, though I don't know if I was born with it. I've never hand-fed a yellow jacket, though I've had one crawl on my hand a couple times without being stung. So far, I've been lucky.
Great Job... it's to bad so many people kill them for no reason... and little do they know they are harmless.... plus they are huge pollinators.... hats off to you... I'm a wasp... hornet... yellow jacket and honey bee keeper... keep up the good work...
Sometimes yellowjackets(worker or queen) could bite with their jaws instead of sting(or even both at the same time), and their bite is rather like a good pinch, like what you can get from a carpenter ant or a Japanese beetle. The drone, or male yellowjacket cannot sting, but still can bite or pinch with its jaws like the rest.
the trick is not to make any sudden movements beacause they can sense fear, the calmer you are the calmer they are.i fed a black widow some crickets and its very rae people can do that without getting bitten. insects are just like us.they have emotions too.remember people protect our spieces!
Unbelievable! I've never hand-fed any wasp, let alone a yellow jacket! How did this person do it without getting stung? The only time a yellow jacket was on my hand was when I was sitting on the grass and it crawled on my hand for a few seconds before it flew away. I was lucky enough to stay still enough not to get stung.
vespula germanica, the german yellowjacket. one of the most agresive species... unlike most others they attack without warning, and are very bold and willing to go anywhere for food.
I cut off a head of a yellow jacket, and attempted to chop its head in half (i'm twisted like that) before doing so it latched onto the knife and bit it, the bite left a noticable dent in the knife, if it can do that to a knife think about flesh.

This is a wasp. This is how they look like in europe and some countries around it. they wont grow any bigger than this.
there are other species of wasps which can grow way bigger then this. but are not very common in countries with a cold climate. aka northern europe.

people can be overhyped about wasps sometimes, they sting when you appear as a treath towards them and their nest that's very common thing in nature.
it is a fact that they sting however the fly swatter isn't very gentle either.

harmless my ass,let a 5 year old get near their damn nest or a dog!
keithehlert 2 years ago 4
youve said what contradicts your words... THE NEST!
hornets/bees defend their nest, thats why they attack, if you see one flying around, it wont sting you = harmless
+ if someone punches you, you'll punch him back...same with insects = if you dont harm them, they wont sting
macakOne 2 years ago
They are NOT harmless.
Yellow jackets will sting you just because they don't like the vibrations of your walking.
Sure, if you avoid them they won't sting you. That doesn't mean they aren't harmless.
Every human has a potention to cause harm. No one is harmless.
