Excellent review! I just moved from Olympus to Nikon and I have been reading for two days about which lenses I need. Your review is pure Excellence! I am getting this lens tonight! THANK YOU!!!
Great review. I have been seriously thinking of purchasing this lens for my Nikon 17-55 mm lens for my Nikon D300s. Your review and others on YouTube have helped me to make the move and purchase the lens.

i am going to shoot weddings, do you think in such an environment where the lens can easily got knocked into stuff - should i still invest in this lens - or perhaps i should go for the MUCH cheaper tamron 17-50?
Complet BS that DX is going out FX is cool when u can buy a 400MM 2,8 nikkor for me a 300 AFS 4,0 brings it at an angle equivalent of 450MM with decsent quality and that is still on my D50.
I bought this 17-55 new because i like the advantage of 1,5.
The DX format is a quickly outgoing range of lenses that will become useless once full sized 35mm sensors are adapted to Nikon cameras. Don't waste your money. Buy FX format lenses. (Even if they are more expensive now, you will be saving money in the future)
Hay, nice review. will tF2.8 allow really sharp photos at normal (200 - 400) iso settings in medium to low light. i'm thinking of buying one for doing a friends wedding, and i'm a bit worried about the church lighting. i think this is the lense i need. would you still use a bounce flash, i have a sb900 if required.
i would sleep in my soft pouch if i could ! i,m sorry for the comment about your wallpaper but it's my job i,m a horibble yellow bear : the guy actually looks really kind and loving : i could easily imagine him stoking a cat or teaching a budgie to speak
keeep in mind that when using your built in flash because this lens is so big it casts a shadow at the bottomm of the shot, flash fill in good light is ok though
Thanks for the excellent video. I am from India and have a D40. I use it with the Nikkors - 12-24 and 18-200. I just happenned to look into the EXIF of most of my photos and found that > 70% of them are taken in the 12-80 range. The 18-200 is really slow and would like to go for a faster lens. Would you recommend the 17-55 f/2.8 or the 24-70 f/2.8 for my requirement. Thanks in advance - Sriram
thanx mate for this review. so i've decided to go for a d300 with this lens. and it's a good deal i found. so is it really sharp as everyone says or it depends on what kind of copy u get just like with sigma 10-20?
im trying to decide on which to purchase, this 17-55mm f2.8 or the 85mm f1.4d. i was wondering if you have an input on my dilema. thanks again and great review.
where did u get it at £800 mate?

Saving money indeed with DX.
The D300s and its followers are superb cameras.

I just purchased on of these. this is an amazing lens, focuses fast, sharp as hell, but it is a BEAST. (huge--especially once you add the hood.)

would it work alright for concert photography?
it works on a nikon d40, right?
thanks
TooTiredProductions 3 years ago
of course it willl. the lens is an AF-S. Any lens label AF-S will sure to work on your d40.
crazyca0 2 years ago
it would work well in concert only if your close enough, but if you dont have access for a close-up, get a 70-200mm 2.8

Don't get the F6. It's a over-priced crap. Get the superior and way cheaper F5.
Good review by the way.
