I agree. but atleast they are abiding by the spirit of the IWC rules...but I think it would be better to honor their traditions in other ways than continuing to kill whales. Gov't Funding for Aquaculture or other food sources for the Inuits would be a great compromise, IMO.

And to extend my point a little bit, There are many practices that indiginous peoples previously enjoyed but no longer do so due to the barbaric nature of such practices, headhunting and canibalism comes to mind. not to mention running around naked in public places which I believe was fairly commonplace among many native nations right up till about a hundred years ago. Personally I would go with that last one over killing whales.

The only way to protect the whales,is a total boycott of products and services from Japan,Iceland,Norway and the supporters of whaling as Denmark, Suriname, China,Russia,etc. Other "soft" campaigns did fail because it didn't hurt their wallet. Educating the japanese people is foolish because in 20 years there will be no more whales to protect if they let Japan & Co kill 1,000 whales each year.
