I do have to say though, while Turn10 did a good job, the game has really annoying glitches and bugs that makes it seem like they didn't even test out the game when they finished..
And still no active aero, which is one of the major parts of the Bugatti Veyron (stability at high speed and handling) and other cars with active aero.
@pentium6xx My point was that really some people oversee the problems that these games have, past GTs didn't have damage nor tire marks and the physics suck. Turn10 made large errors with Forza and some smaller errors that they have no intention on fixing...
Lets put it like this, GT5 will finalize my decision to buy a PS3. I'm a dedicated racing game fan and if GT5 destroys Forza, I just may sell my Xbox and go PS3 (especially if TDU2 is on both platforms, that'll sweeten the deal too)

Yup. I have- I got spun out- slid about 40 feet, tires caught while I was sideways and rolled me over. Landed on my tires and came to a stop. It screwed up the rear suspension something awful- bent all 4 control arms/mounts and bent a shock, and I lost one of the springs out of the spring cup. Those spring cables sure come in handy- keeps the spring with the car even if it gets knocked out.
Pretty scary to be honest... Regardless, the car moved back to the pits under it's own power.

The difference between 1080p native and 1080p upscaled from 720p is minuscule- there is basically no advantage.
Regardless of which one "wins" or "loses", Forza 3 certainly isn't just some run of the mill racer like SHIFT or some crap. Play the game and maybe you'll understand.

I think this is why that I, as a GT fan, am very skeptical about GT5 in these areas. This has been in the Forza series since the first one and we're finally seeing this a half a decade later in Gran Turismo.

The problem with Gran Turismo 5 is that Polyphony Digital has taken an excellent road racer and tried to make it a jack of all trades... Road racing, rally racing, NASCAR, etc... Overall graphics on par with Forza, but with slightly better lighting and shading, but lacking in other areas like the toned down rear view mirrors... Damage modeling only on 170 cars, all of the race cars. PD is just fighting with Forza at this point, adding features T10 has had for quite some time.
The whole idea of "premium damage" and "regular damage" is a half-assed way of doing it.
And as far as the games themselves go, what with physics and so on, Forza has always been reviewed as the better, with more realistic physics, and I agree, having played all the Gran Turismo games, and all the Forza games since the launch of both.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Gran Turismo is going to be bad by any means, I'm just saying Forza 3 is going to be better, in my opinion.

The cars in GT5P are not as responsive as those in Forza, of which, I know how responsive REAL cars are considering MY race experience, plus having been to dozens of autocross races. The responsiveness of the vehicles and the thresholds for traction are MUCH more realistic in Forza than in GT5P and any previous GT game.

The fact of the matter is, GT5 offers absolutely no customization. For that fact alone, I would go with Forza... But add on top of it what I and most others feel is a much more realistic driving simulator, then you've got yourself a sale. Go play Forza 2, or 3 when it comes out. If you truly enjoy driving simulators (or racing games in general), you'd be lying if you said you wouldn't enjoy it.

I still own my PSX and original Gran Turismo. I still play it sometimes.
GT2 was awesome too, the 2 disc model had so much depth, the Used Car Dealer changed daily and I used to always check it for bargains.
GT3 was OK but very arcade.
I have all the Concept releases and the early look at the R35 GTR was impressive with it's seamless 7 sp auto.
GT4 was good still no tyre marks.
Then came Forza..

Need I mention, between the two games, the fact that EVERY car in Forza 3 has FULL damage on all parts as well as the body? How about the fact that ALL cars are FULLY customizable in every aspect- tuning, upgrades, even the paint jobs- you can create WHATEVER you want on ANY car in the game. Oh, and the auction house/store front... lol GT is a great game and all, but it simply doesn't hold up to Forza. Sorry, kiddos.

Yup. I have- I got spun out- slid about 40 feet, tires caught while I was sideways and rolled me over. Landed on my tires and came to a stop. It screwed up the rear suspension something awful- bent all 4 control arms/mounts and bent a shock, and I lost one of the springs out of the spring cup. Those spring cables sure come in handy- keeps the spring with the car even if it gets knocked out.
Pretty scary to be honest... Regardless, the car moved back to the pits under it's own power.

ok heres the thing...we were having the whole whats better...gran turismo 5 or forza motorsport back when forza 2 was about to be released. Here is the reason why forza 2 and 3 are BOTH better than gran turismo 5....THEY ARE AVAILABLE (or at least will be 5 days from now.) Either way, ive played both and can say from experience that forza is much closer to the actual feel of driving a car on a race track without a doubt. I used to love gran turismo...until i played forza 1

i have both the ps3 and xbox 360, so i am going to buy both forza 3 and GT5, they will both be great, graphically gt5 will be better, but in customization, its lookin like forza will be better, (plus theres a whole auction house thing witch is hella dope) but gt5 will have NASCAR and WRC,, and it will have about 500 more cars, they will both be great games though.

Regardless of which one "wins" or "loses", Forza 3 certainly isn't just some run of the mill racer like SHIFT or some crap. Play the game and maybe you'll understand.
And yes, I do have an HD setup, and I know, first and, that there is only a minuscule difference between 1080p native and 1080p upscaled from 720p. I've seen the difference first hand, so it doesn't really matter what crap you're trying to spew.

i stated a few reasons...i will state them again just for you. 1) Forza is available for purchase 2) forza is closer to the actual thing (i can say this from experience, I have played gt5 prologue, forza 3 demo, and have 20ish hours of seat time on a race track...not much, but more than nothing). So unless the handling in the full version of gt5 is way different than every other gran turismo and gt5 prologue, it wont feel as close to the real thing in terms of handling feel as forza has been

Forza is better in every conceivable way, maybe except for graphics. Gameplay, Community, Longevity, Customisation, Tuning, Painting, Auction House. Forza is not a car ad like GT is!
Before you blow me away as a fan boy,I still own my PS1, PS2 and PS3. I have the original of every GT game ever made - EVER! But it only took one game of Forza and I went straight out to buy an Xbox and have not looked back since!

the online in gt5 is completly diffrent from gt5 prologue the creator allready cleared that . he also said gt5 will have visual modification of the vehicles. and those aero parts will affect the cars handling and performance.

I think this is why that I, as a GT fan, am very skeptical about GT5 in these areas. This has been in the Forza series since the first one and we're finally seeing this a half a decade later in Gran Turismo.
So you have to understand why people are skeptical. I think that with the time PD has had, they can deliver. At the same time I really hope they play Forza 3 because it is now the benchmark in console racing sims.

and who are you calling a fanboy, i owned gran turismo 1-4 and played through 98% of gran turismo 4 and loved every second of it before i even played forza. I played forza 1 at target one day and went out and bought an xbox and forza 1 because the driving felt much more realistic. Microsoft has realeased Forza 1, 2, and 3 in between releases of gt4 and gt5. I dont care how good a game will be, if it isnt out, its no good to me.

I cant remember, I havent played it since I bought forza1...but i remember being at 98% and I think the only race that i had left was either 24 hours of the ring or 24 hours of le mans. And no I cant prove it because I traded in my ps2 stuff. You keep saying its just a matter of opinion....so leave it at that and let people have their opinions. The problem with Gran Turismo 5 is that Polyphony Digital has taken an excellent road racer and tried to make it a jack of all trades... Road racing, rally racing, NASCAR, etc... Overall graphics on par with Forza, but with slightly better lighting and shading, but lacking in other areas like the toned down rear view mirrors... Damage modeling only on 170 cars, all of the race cars. PD is just fighting with Forza at this point, adding features T10 has had for quite some time.

The whole idea of "premium damage" and "regular damage" is a half-assed way of doing it.
And as far as the games themselves go, what with physics and so on, Forza has always been reviewed as the better, with more realistic physics, and I agree, having played all the Gran Turismo games, and all the Forza games since the launch of both.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Gran Turismo is going to be bad by any means, I'm just saying Forza 3 is going to be better, in my opinion.

That means everything because you said "GT5 is not even? close to being finished". The only reason they're delaying it is because they want to avoid the holiday rush... Forza 3, Borderlands, Modern Warfare 2, Uncharted 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Left 4 Dead 2, GTA IV The Ballad of Gay Tony, etc, etc...
Money is tight right now, and with that many AAA titles coming out, Polyphony Digital is better off delaying it- as they did. The launch is currently set for March of 2010.

2) Money isn't the key factor- in March they will be competing with no new games on the market- if they released it now, as they very well could, then they would be competing with 7+ AAA games.

Also, like I've said numerous times already, I'm not saying it's a bad game. It's going to be fantastic, and there are certainly going to be things in it that are better than Forza- for example, WRC. Forza doesn't have that. It's not going to sway my opinion over which game is better, because if I buy Gran Turismo or Forza, I'm looking to do road racing, not rally or NASCAR.

I've played GT5P and I've played the Forza 3 demo, and I can say, without a doubt that Forza 3 has better physics than GT5P. If GT5P is a good sample of what's to come with GT5, then Forza 3 will have better physics than GT5.
And again, with the resolution- GT5 won't look any crisper or clearer because of it's 1080p native. As far as graphics go, it has Forza beat in 2 places. Lighting and shading. Other than that, Forza looks better overall- especially when it comes to scenery.

My explanation as to why Forza's physics are better is they handle more realistically. The cars in GT5P are not as responsive as those in Forza, of which, I know how responsive REAL cars are considering MY race experience, plus having been to dozens of autocross races. The responsiveness of the vehicles and the thresholds for traction are MUCH more realistic in Forza than in GT5P and any previous GT game.
How's that for an explanation?

Well, I'm off to go play Forza 2- yeah, that's right Forza 2. Still addicting even though I've had the game since launch. Even the mighty GT couldn't manage to hold my attention that long- GT3 was my first game for the PS2. :)

Oh yeah, and why is that?
What features does it have that would make me choose it over Forza (though I'll be getting both)? NASCAR? No real interest in NASCAR... And Forza 3 has a couple oval tracks and one stock car from every manufacturer, so I can just do up my own "NASCAR". WRC? I'll take Richard Burns Rally and Dirt, thank you.

because forza 3 has that low poly models ingame and ou can count the 18 vertices of the circle of the headlights

The fact of the matter is, GT5 offers absolutely no customization. For that fact alone, I would go with Forza... But add on top of it what I and most others feel is a much more realistic driving simulator, then you've got yourself a sale. Go play Forza 2, or 3 when it comes out. If you truly enjoy driving simulators (or racing games in general), you'd be lying if you said you wouldn't enjoy it.
But regardless, "gt5 is still better" is simply your opinion.

forza 2 is a simulator, but forza 3 is really arcade, and gt5 offers customization in the full version
