  • First off these guys had some pair of balls doing this in the first place in some serious vert pools that really shouldn't have been aired. Dominguez and Fiola invented, REFINED and DEFINED vert riding for today's riders. Second, this was the beginning of style and the pioneering of big balls in BMX park riding. Hats off to these guys AND Hugo Gonzalez who did what everyone joked about. The first wall ride. Dominguez: the FIRST no - footed CAN CAN. The FIRST tail whip air. An inspiration for al

  • I could do this and I just learned how to ride a bike

  • I like when people bash the old school riders it just shows how stupid they are. These guys are legends in the sport of freestyle, this is the grass rooots first year of a Pro Class. Bikes were terrible back then, I gaurantee you that no new school rider today would try anything on them, better yet put a set of tuff wheels on your bike and try to ride. Can't pump up and down a tranny with them, and 40lbs of tire pressure any more than that and your tire will fall off.

  • they sucked soo bad back then hahaha so weak

  • @23metalmulisha Fuck off.

  • man this is not a bmx bike enymor

  • These guys paved the way for the sport....it has evolved to what it is now, but all the tricks today stem from the 80's. Most all the tricks in the sport were invented in so. Cal. I know this because I witnessed many of them.

  • its funny how the super hard tricks back then are easy now these guys are still cool im not bad bouthing them but just think if you went back with a bike from today and did modern tricks you would be like legendary

  • @DrumFreak124 yes absoultely, i was riding between 82 and 86 and find the stuff that they do today to be absolutely unbelievable

  • first song?

  • That was a dream perido to live... many new cool sports, no too much AIDS, full employment.... and BMX !

  • that´s nice

25 years from that! it is crazy!

  • Old School. 8)

  • MIKE D...... alley-oop tailwhip attempt.....in 1984 !!!!

  • why are they wering full face helmets?

  • i jus fell off my bmx not long ago n broke half of mi tooth n hurt mi nose, yeah i face planted n so full face helmets arnt a bad idea

  • 1:23 is pretty much why. If you like your face and hate to eat concreate you wear a full helmet.

  • so they dont get a facefull of concrete

  • mint video kool skatepark

i jus sold a new bmx what had a gooseneck seatpost they own

  • hey i had an old bmx like this, like this 1989 bmx and i had a goose neck seatpost, but i cut the top of it, cuz i needed room for my legs, i tell you one thing though it's super light!

  • yh old school dnt weigh nyfin

  • true that man!,

  • For those, who think they would have been pros in those days : no, you would have shit your pants. Its easy to do something, when somebody has allready shown, whats possible. but if you have to start from zero, its a totaly different thing. Not to mention the bikes, we have to ride that time. you have low-weight bikes, we had tons of metal and forwardmoving bars, no matter how hard we fixed the bolts. its easy to laugh, but all you do today ist only a product of the past :-) those pools kill..

  • The true, only and real prehistoric BMX Frestyle!! GREAT VIDEO, dudes.. i was 14 that year.. very nostalgic!!

  • at 2:13 you can see the young Uma Thurman on her BMX... years later she became very famous in "KILL BILL" with the same dress ...

  • xD!

  • lol.. very funny!! you already discover the first KILL BILL suit ever made!

  • That pool was no joke. It had at least 3 ft of vert and real tight transitions. The coping stuck out alot and there wasn't too much flat. I skated it several times and as a kid I was scared and intimidated by it. I was able to grind and get small airs in the round pool, but it took alot-o-balls to carve that square pool.I can only imagine how hard that pool would be for a bike.

  • GT Performer was the bestest of bikes. My damn neighbor had the all white, special edt that cost $900 at the time.

  • OMG LOL I remember gooseneck seat poles and those plastic seats XD.

  • Life for a professional BMX rider before the tricks came along. BMX has developed alot since then

  • Hahah park bmx has come a long way.

  • is that a swimming pool by any chance?

  • the pro's suck ^^

  • wow i wish i rode in the 80's ide be a pro lol

  • I'd be world number 1 if we were in the eighties! then, everyone would, cos thos trix are easyyyy

  • hahahahahahahahha word.

  • I saw this on dead sailor

  • dude do u know where i can find that video??

  • And then Dominguez jumps through time and tries a tailwhip- wtf?!

  • jeez i could have been pro at 5 years old in the 80's

  • LOL.

i liked the little sit down stall thingy

  • whats the really upbeat/trance-like song during the 2nd run? message me if ya know id really appreciate it

  • the band is called agent orange surf skate music i think the re still around don t know the name of the song must have it somewhere on vinyl and cd their songs are used in a lot of old skate movies i think bones brigade video show also the faction and youth brigade hope you ll find it

  • ...

  • Eddie Fiola Rocks

  • shit thats the original combi bowl

  • lol this AINT EVEN GOOD

  • if i had a time machine i would be pro

  • wow BMX and the bikes have changed alot. :]

  • I used to dream of riding the pipeline and all those famous concrete parks back in the day. WOW! Those were great days in BMX (even if this video is a year before I started riding).

  • wow, u can see how much bmx has changed

  • MAG WHEELS!!!

  • How much vert is on those pools? That's just ridiculous! It would be fun to see todays Pros have a go at that and see what they came up with. Sadly all these parks sre gone..

  • Go to vans skatepark. you can ride this same pool. the infamous combi-pool.

  • 4 feet of vert with pool coping. narly pool coping. If i remember part were over vert. About 12 feet deep.

  • i think that's more than 4ft but hell. that still is alot of vert to climb.

  • pipeline skatepark upland ca fun times I remember riding there with my friends

  • yeah, I remember seeing an older kid at an 11' halfpipe - this was, say, 1983 - and he was killing it on his bike, really flowey, way over the lip airs, not too many tricks, but fast and stylish. these guys were just lame on this video, a bad example, there were rippers out there.

  • wow bmx has come a long way

  • the park is a deep pool that i wish we have it in my town and dam the bikes are soo light its good for ridin

  • bmx has come on alot in 33 years

  • hmm this is terrible... its amazing how far we have come since this terrible riding... haha

  • wot was there b4 bmx that anything like this? am asking seriously by way? b4 bmx was invented was there anyfin else like this in early 70s?

  • depends if you mean freestyle or not, because mountain biking was around before they started bmx racing

  • so why do the old skl BMXers still reminesse about the good old days? this is fooking wank!!!!! thought i saw a power ranger there? hahaha

  • bcoz you fukwit before this there werent any bmx stunt riders you cockend, and there are better examples than this. peeps didnt realise either that aving a peak on your helmet could give ya brain damage when ya fell off, until sum peeps on horses wearing riding hats wiv peaks on turned in2 cabbages from the headgear, not fallin

  • they reminesse about old times because they were alot funner and everyone was cool. now, you can't even go up to any pro's because they are now rockstars.

  • mxbest1

    Also,

Just like in 20 years from now kids will say what you did back in the day sucked, your clothes were funny and the music you listened to was crap. However this is where it started

and if your any kind of rider today you owe to to the people before you that laid that groundwork.

  • I guess you could say that we've kinda' tweeked BMX a wee bit,Lol.

  • BAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH

  • i never understood y they suck so much i mean they couldnt have done even a 180 or sumthin

  • they spend more time off their bike then on it

  • It's funny watching this now. I could have been a pro back then!

  • Domingez brought the HEAT with that run!!!!

  • lets go crazy

  • Ahh, those were the days.

  • if it were'nt for fellas like these you would'nt have the X-Games...cool dudes..cool vid..

  • what's the name of that awesome music ?

  • Don't remember the name of the tune, but that's Prince.

  • you guys fucking sucks

  • think and look at the bikes THIS IS THE FUCKING 80's

bad in the day these guys were rippers

  • that was awesome im sponsered by yama thats all though > . <

  • does anyone know what skatepark that was and where in the usa. Thanks

  • Del Mar Skate ranch.. it's gone now.

  • whats in it place ? thanks for answering question

  • a strip mall. The land it was on was worth alot of money. A house there starts at almost a million.

  • thats a pity. thanks for letting me know

  • Mike dominguez was the shit back then. That dude was sick. He was pullin' airs higher than anyone...until Hoffman.

  • lol

  • nah leadbellydan, he did just nobody saw

  • You can tell the yellow guy is just thinking about pulling out the 540 tailwhip but he hasnt quite got the confidence.

  • how times have changed

  • i saw these dudes at my local park the other day shredding

  • They look like power rangers :D

  • that was the shit thing i have ever seen in me live ffs that is not ld school THAT IS FKING SHIT.

  • in 1984 they were gods, kinda like mirra now

  • lmao, a x-up was probably the best trick ever back then... XD

  • old schooll reppin. the dude in the yellow is a strait up G!

  • noobisch

  • ive been biking for like 4 mounths and im wayyy better than this guy

  • Someone should give you a cookie. Then you should take some of the raw BMX energy and learn how to spell. Thanks for the post, it's great to know that someone in 2007 who has the advantage to be inspired by the X-Games can be better than a Pioneer of the sport from 1984. But first try this, go down to your local Wallmart and find yourself a nice cheap steel frame with some not so great or questionable wields. Now go to your local bike park and try a back flip....yeah that's what I thought.

  • well put bro as a bmx vet of the eighties your spot on

  • @gierk this was 26 years ago you dick. these are the guys who had to think up all the tricks, where as you can look any where in the world now and you'll see people doing all the stuff these guys invented. go away and learn origami you arrogant loser

  • @ABcommics

Thats what beginners will say about todays pros in 26 years.

  • Mike Dominguez Rips

  • Good stuff. I remember seeing these competitions in the magazines of the time. It's great getting to see them on video.

  • Pioneers....anybody that was riding back then and knows what a transition is, knows exactly what the combi-pools at pipeline were - take a look at the vert guys - mental pools, I don't think anything like them have existed since - Ok, no backflips BUT balls out riders

  • this sucks more than skatebording

  • Man it makes me laugh and kind of wonder what they would think if you just went to comp back then knowing the tricks of today.

  • birdmanjr2000. your lame . See it for what it is you cock sucker.

  • good to see some old school bmx. it would be sick to be able to go back and show them 06 xgames bmx action

  • ultra cool...

  • MD doing a tailwhip flyout 22 years ago thanks for the memories awesome

  • this is so lame. he cant even backflip. loser

  • no one backflipped 20+ years ago birdbrain

  • trix r 4 kidz. that was wicked. thanks for posting

  • now that is history! lads, you are literally witnessing the foundation of the sport.
