The best landings are those when the stall horn sounds right before the wheels meet the conrete/asphalt. The stall horn should sound roughly 8 knots BEFORE an actual stall. Therefore the stall horn is not an indicator of an actual stall.
You did over correct a little. Next time try crabbing just as you did, but coming out of the crab into a side slip (cross control) a lot earlier. 50 feet or so off the ground. That way you have plenty of time to figure out the right control inputs.
be careful when landing that you have that stall warning thgats very dangers, Ive flown many hours, just be careful, better to land a little hot.. God Bless
@barmer479 Thanks for the comment! With regards to the stall warning horn while landing: A combination of headwind, ground effect and instinct will safely keep the aircraft from stalling (Stall Speed, Full Flap, C172S = 40kts IAS). The stall warning horn is actually tought as a good indication of when you have washed off enough speed in the flare to gently put the mains down. The key with any good landing is control.
I learned to fly at 51 and moved up to flying a Cessna Mustang now. You are never too old to learn to fly.
Isn't great that we in general aviation, especially in C-172s and C-182s (least I not forget the Mustang) have better avionics than the major airlines.
Actually yes I have flown an airliner or two since getting my certificate. I am a Southwest first officer with about 400 PIC hours in a B737-700. Doesn't make me an expert, but still think the G-1000 is more advanced than the Honeywells.
Went to an intense 90 day ATP school, put in 14 hours a day, then paid my way for first officer's training. Went to the airline and said, I would fly "part-time" or "full-time". I don't need the benefits package since I am retired military.
...and I still like the G-1000 over Honeywells, an the Pro Line 21. Some of the captains I have flown with are jealous I have so much time with the G-1000.
You know when I was in a 182T a few months ago. I was in the right seat, but I noticed that the G1000 lagged. It was a bit glitchy. Does this plane do that?
coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool I wanna do that too dude
nice flying. crosswinds at moorabbin can be a handful at the best of times.. i blame the factories on the east side of the airport.
Is the stall warning=good landing a cessna thing as I learned in pipers and they tend to settle gently before the horn goes off. Could be added ground effects from the low wing?
Yeah, ive heard that before, a few of the instructors at GFS had experience in Pipers and apparently the landing is a lot smoother than the Cessna. If it is ground effect, then there would be a difference in effectiviness between high wing and low wing aircraft.
Hey I have more information on this: (For the record: Wingspan of a C172 is 11 meters, Wingspan of a Piper is 9.2 meters). At one wingspan length from the ground (30' for a Piper, 36' for a Cessna) Ground effect results in a 1% reduction in induced drag. At 1/10th the wingspan (3 feet) from the ground Induced drag is reduced by 50%. The difference between high and low wing aircraft is about 2ish meters so there would be a difference in effectiveness.
Lol mate, you are hilarious! I COMPLETELY shut you and your thick friends down in your idiotic videos and this is the best comeback you could muster? Mate you're pathetic! LMAO!! BTW: Nuclear weapons DO exist...
Lol Pete I love flight sim, pity I can't do the real thing more often. You should clear out one of your paddocks and ill come down on a flyaway for some drinkies!

I feel your pain on the last landing..
X winds can be a bitch.
My second solo, I was doing crash and dashes when all of a sudden I got a gust from an approaching thunderstorm... thought I was gonna strike a wing.
I called it a day and parked the aircraft after that haha.
good vid

IairbusI 3 years ago
Yeah. I'm already booked in for next year.
flyboy172r 3 years ago
so you are saying next year, you will be a commercial pilot?
IairbusI 3 years ago
Well over the next 3 years I will get my CSU endorsement, Multi Engine, Aerobatics Rating, CPL, Instructor Rating and NVFR Rating.
flyboy172r 3 years ago
ok...im starting my multi-engine maybe this year or next year.but im only 14,lol.I have my student license,my radio and my medical.
IairbusI 3 years ago
Lol its NEVER too early to start! ;) I started when I was 15.
flyboy172r 3 years ago
i started at 10 lol,i needed 2 pillows XD

WOW the cross winds looked terrible. im flying a cirrus and they handle the crosswinds very well for such a light aircraft.
Nigolas16 3 years ago
I absolutely love the G1000. I fly a 182 equipped with the G1000 for search and rescue, and it seems to simplify things so well.
