you have a few nice things there , I get mine the same way but I am offered $11.00 per pound right now & I will not sell any because they want it for Gold & not to fix up PC's - I love to scrap metal but not working computer parts ! I have 1000's of pounds but it all works so it is not Scrap :) QC
Good collection. It's amazing what can be found in what others are throwing out. Now that newer Intel CORE and AMD processors have become the norm (of course), there are definitely more people trying to get rid of P4s.
@sucram7979 mostly from E-Waste collection jobs, the local printer/copier and computer shops call me when a client or buisiness has upgraded their systems and have equipment that needs to go.
roadsides and the local scap yard are also good for computer scrap/
Do you still come across some of these old cpu's at the scrap yard? Im looking to get a small collection of the early Pentiums and the like, after i threw out my old stuff 4 years ago :(
Also are yous selling any 256mb sticks of sd ram? looking for some for people who come in with old pc's.
I have an AMD duron 1200mhz cpu on an old rig :D I built that rig into a new case and run it as a domain controller server in my house now. it has 128mb of pc133 ram but im gonna buy another 256mb stick so it runs faster, only £2-3 on good old ebay :D
One of the local scrap yards here deals with e waste it's crazy what they pay for the boards from pcs 1.75/lb those ceramic CPUs you have go for 15.99/lb.
You probably won't find aluminum casings like in the old 386 but the newer dells have huge 1/2 lb aluminum heat sinks in them.
My brother comes across alot of damaged computers from people spilling beverages across them, or power supplies frying the mother boards.
I dig through the e-scrap at my work every now and then. I've promised myself I wouldn't take anything I wouldn't actually use though, so I've ended up taking mostly fans and heat sinks for electronics projects. Literally dozens of very good heat sinks from Pentium 4 machines.
Still good computers too, but since the institution has a policy that all hard drives must be crushed, no one is interested in the systems, so they go direct to e-recycling.
yeah! I could never find a company that would pay reasonable prices for CPU and PCB scrap for gold recovery!
it was always worth more mixed in with steel going to China, heck, the auto wreckers used to fill car bodies with rubbish and tires before crushing them and ship it all to China without complaint!
wow thats a lot of stuff I had about 20 p2 and p3 cpus I thew them out. I mostly get p1 a lot but now they are getting rare I usually find p3s and amds now
I have a X86 (AMD/Intel/IBM) cpu collection all mounted on a large wite painted wooden board with a silver edged frame that sits on the wall in the hallway. Each CPU has a year and model note under it. Pretty much got everything made from 8086's forward to P4's (got lots of friends giving me P4's now from their old systems). Nicest looking cpu's would be the IBM ones made in the early 90's as they were gold coloured.
The gold IBM/Cyrix CPU's are nice!, as are the old intel Pentiums with the gold foil coating.
Really old PC's are much harder to find these days, was easy to throw the old 386's in the scap bin 8 years ago, now I'm struggling to find good examples to keep!
Bro Can I have Some I want to make an AT Server Thanks Keep Up the good work Isubbed and liked.

@Gatewayuser200
Not really, its a fun project if you haven't done it before. use a drive that died that you don't care about.
