They also prove environmentally vital to the ecosystem. Killing all populations will cripple the Brazilian forests.

That many deaths in that short a period? Sounds to me like the colony is undergoing an epidemic. The human deaths will stop when the bat population drops dramatically. For the sake of human lives, it's better to help the bat purge along if possible. The bats would much rather suffer a swift death than linger with rabies, anyway, I'm sure. They're thirsty and perpetually terrified. For their sake as well as the villagers', it's best to euthanize the bats.

I get bit a lot that when I was young. But mostly when I'm awake. Rabies are deadly when it gets into your brain. I remember when I was young, my parents would buy Garlic and smash a piece of it and apply on the bite mark. First off, they aren't blind. Their eyesight is terrible though since they rely more on they're sense of smell and echo location since its dark out.

I understand that they are probably poverty stricken, but when you live in an area with creatures like that, you should be able to have some means to take precautions.
