  • if it's a British company or whatever they call it bp made it must be shit brand go for Mobil 1 every 1 use it around the world

  • I have tried this in my domestic freezer and definately the 0W40 has much better viscosity than even 10w40. Tested at -20*c.

  • That beeker marked "synthetic oil" could have just as well been 10W40 or thiker, performing perfectly normaly for it's cold weather viscosity. Worthless!

  • My old BMW 520 M-54 2001y.proehal 315000km only be filled Castrol, I live in Moscow, we chill to-30C engine in perfect condition never been repaired!

  • I buy the best I can find in cars, oil, etc. Why settle for less?

  • Think with your dipstick.

  • That oil fucked up my car I used mobile 1 but this one was on sale I used it and it gummed up my lifters they took a long time for them to get pressure and ticked like crazy.

  • Castrol is a brandname of BP... Can someone really trust British Petroleum ?

  • @cp120x After exploring different top range fuels I found out that Bp's octane 98 is the best performng fuel in the market. Wont settle for anything less.

  • @PSRBF6 I dunno what you are driving but for a car with compression ratio under 10.5 there's is no significant benefits of using a hi octane fuel... So if you're driving a Lambo or a Ferrari or an heavyly modified car with a 25PSI+ boost... The only benefit is to lighten your wallet.

  • @PSRBF6 I But my point is BP is an irresponsible company environmentally wise...

  • @cp120x I can see what you mean but regardless of their past and track record, they still make a fuel that performs. Even for low powered vehicles like a suzuki swift or ford fiesta you can feel the acceleration difference with smooth power delivery from down low (RPM) with BP compared to shell or Mobil. My car runs at 10.1:1 compression at 8 psi (boost regulator) JDM straight-six engine.

  • I'll take Mobil 1 0w40 over edge anyday

  • Maybe in northern Canada? It just means you never have to plug your car in

  • on -55 this oil useless like others

  • Castrol 0w-40 is the best??? My car call out 0w-20 only Castrol will run out of business!! kakakakaka...

  • use liqui moly made in germany

  • i use only motul, I have seen many problems with edge in cars

  • I smell bullshit in this video. My guess is that the competitors oil was 10w-30 or maybe even 15w-40. Seems unlikely they did a fair comparison since they won't tell what the viscosity of the competitors oil is. In any case, I wouldn't want to start my car anywhere that cold, much less live in that kind of climate.

  • Useless. The competitors oil is what exactly?

  • That's why i use Castrol GTX !!

  • If you knew anything about economics you'd know you always buy the product that gives you the best utility, that way companies that make bad products must either design better products, produce something else or go out of business. This is how capitalism works. Buying only from your own country is called communism/stupidity

  • @billjim123 Buying only from your own country is called communism/stupidity

Are you sure about your statement, @billjim123 , if yes, what experience is it based on?

  • lol marketing BS.

A 0W-20 or 0W-30 will outflow it. And why would you use a 40 weight oil in snowy countries for the street?

  • @jbzEK9 you would use a 40 weight oil in snowy countries for the street because it is thicker and therefore it wouldn't freeze as easily as the thinner stuff

  • This is stupid, where on earth do people drive with temperatures under -30 yet alone -55 and every company has test like this.

  • @aleks0001 ???Canada, Iceland, Switzerland, Germany, Norway, Finland, Russia, Alaska...etc.

  • @aleks0001 Russia, Finland, Alaska, the list goes on.

  • @austinman1995 try AMSOIL one word.my uncle works for them but sadly runs castrol.amsoil breaks down more than castrol does.

  • @austinman1995 then learn how to spell it

  • ROFL.. who gives a shit about how this or that oil perform at -52°C.

At that temperature ur engine and tires are FUCKED anyway and diesel turn into wax...

  • @Nox665 - Because an oil that performs okay at -52 deg. C. will pour like a summer's day in cold winter temperatures, allowing for easy starts, virtually instant lubrication, greatly reduced wear and longer engine life. It all makes sense. :)

  • H=JOOKO

  • if you live in USA then buy domestic

brand to keep our economy grow !

  • You are aware that the non-domestic cars are built in the U.S by American workers right. Just the the engineering and technolgy is made by the import companys

  • @JackRABBITslim27 -- Foreign vehicles, "made in America", are not actually made in America, just merely *assembled in America*. Then after the vehicle is sold, the profit from the sale of that vehicle is shipped right out of America. Not so great for the American economy.

  • @JohnQuincyAdams1 I agree with you....However I was talking about how they supply us Jobs..And are government does place Tariffs (Import Taxes) on Foreign vehicals which does take away from there profits a little..

  • @JackRABBITslim27 - However, those jobs are assembly line jobs, which compared to design and manufacturing jobs, are very low paying. I personally feel we need to start paying much closer attention and care of our own economy and not that of the so-called global economy. I don't know anyone that lives in, "global", but I do know of millions of people that live in America and Canada, all needing gainful employment.

  • @Deskonet it dosent matter what u buy the goverment/royal familes own everything it dosent matter buy what u like

  • @showkase52 - Most people see the common sense in buying American, to support American jobs and not foreign jobs. Basic economics and that matters to the 15 millions people who are unemployed. :)

  • @Deskonet EDGE is the best domestic or non domestic. I use it in all my cars.

  • @Deskonet I have become wary of thing that say "Made in USA" at the moment. Standards are slipping especially in the automotive industry in order to compete with the Japanese and Korean companies with their products. I had a new Mustang afew months ago and had it shipped to the UK. The standards of the parts were horrifying. Fram filters especially and the suspension components has been designed by an ape.

  • What I mean is, there is no Castrol Edge 0W40, only 5w30 and 10w30.

  • they also have Castrol Edge Sport wich also has 10w60 and other values

  • There is no 0w40 in U.S. !! And this test is not relevant, more important would be test in - 20 C

  • I don't know exactly what you mean that there is no 0W40 in the US, but Mobil1 makes 0W-40 and it's sold here in the US.

  • @gigimanjo use their Syntec 0w30, made in germany, the stuff works fine for me in NE winter

  • @boymk - Might be better to use AMSOIL 0W-30, made in America, and support your own economy and not a foreign one.

  • @JohnQuincyAdams1 RIGHT ON!!!!! I live in Canada and my father works for Ford. He makes the Ford Flex. He always raised me with the belief that "Made in Canada matters". The same goes with "Made in America Matters"

  • why don't they test these at a more realistic temp, like -20 F. It can get to -40 in places like N Dakota but for most of the country, it would help to know how the oil performs in more realistic temperatures, like 0 down to -22 f.

  • it performs (flows) better in high temperatures.

  • Comment removed

  • bullshit

  • That's not much better than tree sap in the dead of winter. Not something I'd want in my car if living in a very cold climate.

I don't suppose Castrol would care to tell us what base stocks they use? Of course not!! Buzzwords and marketing BS area all we ever get from any big corporation. Redline, Amsoil, and a few other other small outfits will level with the customer. That in itself is worth a buck or two per qt., IMO.

  • You do know that they tested that at -53C.... There are very few places that people live at that it will get that low, and if it does, then your car should already have a block heater of some sort installed...

  • @geonerd your an idiot. they tested it at -52 degrees. and yes it runs thick because its super cold. but it still runs proving its better. where the hell are you gonna live where its -52 degrees?

  • @geonerd You are right about marketing, but are you kidding about the tree sap? They tested it at negative 55 celsius which is negative 67 fahrenheit!! Where do you live where the middle of winter brings that low of temps? And if it was that cold, get back inside! lol

  • @geonerd~ There are only 2 types of synthetic base stocks; Poly-alpha-Olefin(PAO) and Poly-ol-ester(POE). Unless it has the word "ester" on the bottle.... u know its PAO. There is a big price and performance difference between PAO and POE oils.

  • @geonerd~ besides... base stocks dont tell u the full story. The "specs" of an oil tell the full story. Get yourself "the oil bible" by Mike Kaufmann. U can download it for $10. It teaches u how to discern an oil by its specs.... and not by the marketing BS of the manufacturer. Its a good read.... i highly recommend it!

  • A block heater will keep the oil at about 100F

  • JeepXJforever - A block heater sure is a lot of hassle compared with the convenience of just using a good synthetic oil, turning the key and go.

  • I agree, a block heater can help. But will it really warm the oil that much. The engine coolant and the oil are typically quite separated.

  • @mastachief224 - An engine block heater might be a tad bit more of a hassle, (and expensive, ringing up that electricity bill), than simply using a good synthetic oil. :)
