  • To say that it's wrong that people "profit from other people being sick", because those that provide healthcare make money, is dumb. I agree that insurance and pharmaceutical companies profit too much perhaps, and that they, along with govt regulations, distort the true costs. But people who provide healthcare need to make a living too. His logic is like criticizing carpenters for profiting from people who need homes (another basic necessity).

  • bill maher is funny but he was actually corny that night.

  • Jay Leno Sucks.

  • i like how shocked the crowd was at some of these, shows how different cable is to actual free speech on HBO

  • great vid

  • Rules to live by. I love Bill Maher and not in a sexual way you rightwing perverts. Lol

  • I love folks that make you think. Bill M is one of the best!

You don't have to agree with him - just make your challenges against "conventional wisdom"

  • New rules: Bill Maher is an ignorant, anti-american moron.

  • The Biggest Loser hahahaha

  • Wow, only Maher could make the Jay Leno Show seem interesting.

  • Who died and appointed the Republican Right to decide what is right for the rest of the world? Facist pigs! Tools of the military complex!

  • Bill Maher and New Rules...What intelligent adults watch!

  • @ECheGuevera "Bill Maher and New Rules...What intelligent adults watch!"

If only more American's thought like Bill Maher. Then finally the whole globe could join hands and sing the praises of Fidel's Cuba, Chavez's Venezuela, and that piss pail of an idea called collectivism. An entire society that can be tuned and guided right down to the lowest level. A new utopia planned centrally by the loving and enlightened hands of geniuses such as John McCain, Newt Gingrich, and Sarah Palin. Imagine

  • @TheFreebourne dumass....he destroys sarah palin, john mcCain and so many other imbeciles constantly....blame the people who vote for them rather than the people who make fun of them

  • @zakuiij0

"blame the people who vote for them rather than the people who make fun of them"

You are obviously one of those 'idiots' if you interpreted my reply as a favorable account of the Republican party. I was making 'fun' of Billy and you. Morons, like yourself, enjoy a distinction between 'us' and 'them' that is neither true nor helpful. You are living a lie because you believe that there is a difference. You are living a lie because you believe that choosing between idiots is choice.

  • @TheFreebourne ahahah seriously? I think Bill O'reilly is one of the major problems in the US. I don't live in the US or am able to vote in the US. I think the Republican party is full of shit. But there is no good alternative in the system as of right now, only a not as bad option. The US system, as so many people believe, is not even a democracy. its a Republic...sorry for not catching you sarcasm after being up for 18 hours straight, but calling me a moron when agreeing with your point...damn

  • @zakuiij0

"I think Bill O'reilly is one of the major problems in the US. I don't live in the US..."

I was referring to Bill Mahr, and while you may not live 'in' the US you depend upon the 'US,' as far as financing the inflation is concerned, so deal with it. Listen, if you are actually a working person then prepare yourself for a success, at least in the short term. I don't, despite my anger, hate you. When this 'Bubble' in the financial system is 'Solved' it will be on your back. The worker

  • @TheFreebourne ahh my bad, i watched alot of bill o'reilly videos before seeing this one. and wow, calling people facists...yelling over them to show how much smarter he is and that he is 'right'? ridiculous.

im a student not a worker...and the US is more reliant on China...and the US is an open market economy, and there will always be recessions and expasions. it is unavoidable. but what is avoidable is too big to fail, which actually was greatly helped by massive tax cuts to the richest 1%...

  • Those chairs were fucking stupid.

  • Bill is great

  • Don't you have to be funny to be a comedian

  • @StrongNblind

Meh, Jay seems to be getting by with his million supercars just fine.

  • @THEBIGCAGEY

Obama is not comedy, his is tragedy.

  • @tnekkc nice spelling, caveman.

  • profiting from the sick is hard to swallow.

  • What is a nice host like Leno doing with a guest like this.

  • I wanna spoon with bill

  • @equsnarnd Bill Mar is brilliant. no question about it.

  • If people didn't profit from healthcare there would be no incentive to spend $400,000 on a medical degree or a billion in R&D for cures you simpleton fucking moron!

  • @BoomerSooner1966 Another ill informed American asshole. Learn from the literate Europe janitor.

  • @BoomerSooner1966 I'm assuming you're responding to therrydicule's comment about INSURANCE COMPANIES making ridiculous profit at the expense of people's lives. Which, by the way, has nothing to do with doctors getting medical degrees. People shouldn't be profiting from healthcare, period. I'm tired of hearing people say healthcare isn't a right, it's a privilege. Really? Is having a healthy nation a privilege, too? Let's just see how we turn out if everything was completely privatized.

  • @PosFlow You are absolutely right. According to the wing nuts we have the right to be borne, but not the right to stay healthy once were here. If were borne and get sick we have NO right to get well unless we have a lot of money to pay for treatment, including a huge profit to insurance company that doesn't need to be there in the first place. Paying for some one to treat you is one thing, but paying a middle man a huge profit that had nothing to do with getting you well is another.

  • @johnnyohness Don't you think it's interesting how a lot of people lump actual medical care with health insurance? They're not the same thing. Insurance companies making obscene profits off of people's lives is ruining our country, but certain people continue to make excuses for them as if their own livelihood depended on it. Unfortunately, a lot of them just don't realize they're getting screwed. Unless they're taking money from health care lobbyists or whoever, they're not benefiting AT ALL.

  • @PosFlow "Unless they're taking money from health care lobbyists or whoever, they're not benefiting AT ALL."

You said it all in a nut shell. They make money off you when your born, to keep you alive, and you cant even die for free. Capitol-ism at it's best.

  • @johnnyohness You said the magic word, Capitalism, and I really feel the need to respond to that word. I think capitalism, in its current form, is destroying us. We all know that America is the land of the free, etc. I do believe that. We have an exceptional foundation in place, and it has served us well for a long time. But I think we've lost sight of what made us great. The distinction between personal freedom and succeeding as a society has been lost. That last sentence needs clarifying...

  • @PosFlow ...but I'll only do so if I have to. Basically, unfettered capitalism has, at least so far, brought nothing but dismal failure. The health care industry is a huge by-product of that, and I'm honestly scared to see what the new Republican-led House is going to attempt while invoking both your name and mine.

  • Damn it got cut off on the important part!

  • Bill - why do you profit from being more educated?

That's why doctors profit from being doctors. They have to pay off over $250K in student loans and >20% of their fees go to collecting what they are owed.

As medicine becomes less and less desirable we will have physicians that are pure scientists and technicians.

  • @baerdog2003 The problem is not doctor, nor technicians, nor the nurse... It is the insurance company that is doing record profit when somebody is sick.

  • "...because their teacher offered." LOL!

  • i hate it when people laugh at their own jokes before they say it....stupid

  • @bonekillah11b Sounds like you don't like Bill Maher.

  • NOOO! I wanted to see the rest :(

  • Heres an example of "working" towards enlightenment(God)(oneness.)

People say "I forgive you." That may be true or not. To "forgive" is an act not a word. It means "to let go" or to "act as though it never happened." That is true forgiveness. Unless people understand what "words" mean, they can't actually follow it. Hence you get a lot of "hypocrites." Eventually when you follow the things that Jesus taught constantly you become enlightened or one with everything(God.)

  • It's called "common sense," you lose it when you smoke to much pot and lose all your brain cells.

  • @TheROCKandOrROLL Common sense now a days tells us that alcohol kills brains cells, and Marijuana has grown brain cells in lab rats.

    kthx

  • @Cryptopsy666 who ever told you that?!?!? i've met a burned out retard from smoking so much shit including marijuana my friend smokes that everyday and he is so lost from earth cryptopsy is the reason why bill maher says americans are stupid

  • Comment removed

  • The reason why people "profit" from others being sick is because that is how our system "functions" properly. We pay the doctors and the "doctors" work hard because they get their reward(money) and heal us. If fucking Maher can come up with a better way that is(logical) I would like to hear it.

  • @TheROCKandOrROLL He doesn't have to. Every other developed country in the world has a system we could look at.

  • The reason why people "profit" from others being sick is because that is how our system "functions" properly. • that was cute.... i like seeing these 2 guys together.

  • I would boo Rush Limbaugh & Michael Moore equally.

  • I'm not big fan of Moore, but i like he's movies.

  • Never can get enough of Bill Maher.

  • am soooo with you!

  • Its always a good sign when bodhisattvas are on your side.

  • and its even better when people know what a bodhisattva is!

  • @WhenLilacsLast i know i feel you this guy is really smart and i would wish he would run for president or do something political but he is good where he is talking what he talks is good enough for me

  • Can we please graduate to adulthood and cease the volleying of pointless name calling?

    MongoloidBabyUSA(great name btw),

    You used the following:

    bird brain-fascist-stupid-common-ugly-simple minded-no education

We accomplish nothing other than massaging our own egos when we engage in this kind of language. If you want someone to praise you, here you go..MongoloidBabyUSA is by far the most intellectually gifted person humankind has ever known!

Let's focus on issues, not sophomoric insults.

    -Peace

  • Thank you for your gratuitous smarmy compliment!

  • Amazing how Americans can be manipulated into supporting taxes that literally don't benefit them.

And then they bitch about how their tax dollars aren't benefiting them. Well no shit Sherlock, why don't you use them for a universal health care plan and they will.

  • Don't click the link for full episodes as it tries to install spyware

  • New Rules is the BEST part of the show!

  • Rush Limbaugh, lol what a joke

I wonder if anyone with an iq over 90 takes this imbecile seriously

  • You should probably switch from crack to pot, man. You're wound up too tight!

  • how come "free" health care works in other countries, dumb asshole?

  • when was fucking limbaugh on...did anyone see that? He never does interviews...i bet he only touched on the safe stuff.

  • maher strikes me as a fascist ... ' if you don't believe in my way of thinking, you will be eliminated '. his type are slowly being exposed by the new media and new ways for the average individual to gain knowledge. he is a centralized government elitist who wants to decide how 99.999% of all people live their lives.

  • but he only wants the religious fascists to be eliminated.

  • keep your head in the sand if you really believe maher and his type only focus on religious nut-jobs

  • my head's not in the sand...the religious are hypocrites and annoying....but what i said was a quick comment...lol

  • Section 16 Bill of Rights freedom of religion, Christian forbearance. Are there any other civil rights you'd like to remove?

  • depends on what you mean by freedom of religion....does that include the public schools.

  • sandroeleven - If a muslim needs to pray several times a day. They would be allowed that priviledge in a public school, and would be respected. My point is that if you limit one groups civil rights you open the door to limit other civil rights. Any religion acknowledges that human beings are born flawed, and it is the pursuit of enlightenment that makes us civilized. I can believe whatever I want where ever I want, public or private.

  • An elitist who's cheered on by unemployed bureau fodder in California.

He wouldn't know what to do if he had to entertain "the elite".

  • elitist, that is the term that morons with no education or class use.

  • Well how fortunate am I?

Encountering an arbiter of taste and class who watches Jay Leno.

Surely you can't be so discriminating when you watch shows which cater to the lowest common denominator?

  • Oh really, I didnt know that uneducated people could say any thing but food stamps or "yes we can, hope and change, yes we can, hope and change!!"

  • Or go to Palin rallies with their Nascar gear on to appreciate her simple minded banalities like Iraq is God' War or "I'm a hockey mom, a pitbull with lipstick!"

Yes, being stupid and petty is the "in" thing, God, who wants to be called an elitist? So listen to a lot of talk radio and no one will ever think you are an elitist.

  • Yes and banalities abound like "There are 50,000 uninsured and we must do something!! Or pull the troops out of Iraq yesterday! Or there are no commies in this administration. We will only raise taxes on the rich. Yep you know it baby. Damn straight. Hows that hope and change workin for ya?

  • Closer to 50,000,000 uninsured Americans than it is 50,000. Not a banality. Fact.

Sometimes I wish I could be an inbred redneck shitfuck like you and all your brethren, it just looks SO much easier. Of course then I think about it a little longer and realize I'd never forget that suicide is always an option.

  • Ron Paul is a redneck and he's brilliant.

  • @xlordslix If Ron Paul is brilliant, any random political science professor is an intellectual titan among mice-men.

Ron Paul's stance on marijuana is the only good thing about him. Everything else is just garden variety far-right fucktardedness.

  • @Exhuman

Um last time I checked, Ron Paul's Foreign Policy and Economic stance was pretty spot on with what makes a country successful.

  • "didn't" and "anything"

    And it's edumacated.

  • Liberals are more educated than republicans.

PEW research study says 49% of liberals are college graduates. While only 15% of conservatives are college graduates.

Your theory about liberals being less educated couldn't be more wrong.

  • If this thesis held any intrinsic truth, then going to college would make you smart, a position for which there is no evidence. Going to a college doesn't make you smart any more than going to a bank makes you rich — unless, of course, you bring your own money to the bank. By the same token, if you arrive at college with your own intellectual resources — your own riches — you may well become "smarter," whatever that means in real human terms.

  • You misquoted me lordslix.

    I said EDUCATED, not "smart".

You attempted to misquote me, and now you're busted, and owned.

  • It's kind of hilarious how people that boast about being smart and well educated, still have enough time to "own" someone on the internet.

  • It's funny how much time one has to waste.

  • lol what a dumb fuckin comment, "if this thesis held any intrinsic truth..." Maybe dumb rednecks confuse unnecessarily complicated diction with intelligence, but your comment is just hilariously pretentious and retarded. But hey, your junior college teacher will be proud!

  • @dekotable

I'M A REDNECK AND PROUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUD OF IT!!! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

  • I've met people with Masters from prestigious universities who are super stupid. Not even in their own field

  • You sound like a semiliterate right wing moron, the kind I hear talk trash on the radio all the time. Since you have no education or intellect, you buy all that shallow trash like "Lib Fascism" hook, line & sinker.

The new media you refer to is talk radio geared for simple minded fools like you. You seem to be the biggest fascist on this thread. But you certainly aren't an elitist, unless elite now means stupid, common, and ugly.

  • Amen Bill, Amen . All health insurances must be no profit . It is immoral unethical and inhumane to profit from people's sufferings

  • Comment removed

  • i agree, but like all cowards, he would live in a free country to give his totalitarian views rather than move to a totalitarian country.

  • He is not a totalitarian, but you are just another fool parroting back trash talk radio & FOX fed into your bird brain.

  • Um.. actually the system doesn't have to be non-profit.

What is important is that BASIC health insurance COVERAGE is state-defined and health insurance is mandatory.

The insurance companies then fight to offer clients EXTRA coverage, and to promote a healthy lifestyle (which means they pay less to hospitals / doctors)

That's how it works in our country, and it does work. (our hospital system is messed up, but HI works great.)

  • Wtf, you cut off Bill in the midst of his conversation.

  • Right on Bill...keep it up..You and Ed Scuultz are getting the people to think about health care in a positive way. Best regards Leebm29
