I think she's the most exciting voice in jazz today. I have seen all these comparisons to Norah Jones and Diana Krall. I just don't get it. Neither of them can touch Melody in creativity, tone, phrasing, depth of feeling. The only ones I can relate to her are Billie, Sarah Vaughan, and Dinah Washington, so I guess she's the best white singer ever!

I found out about Melody Gardot on iTunes... her single "Worriesome Heart" was the free single of the week a few months ago.

I really liked it so I researched her and it turns out she released an album in 2005. I haven't bought it yet, but "Worriesome Heart" is a great album!

Saw her live last week at The Stables, England. Bought the CD - chill out. Awesome talent - perfect phrasing. The trumpet players are something else - lovely old 'late night' muted sounds. Makes a change from saxes. See her live if you get the chance - she doesn't do many live gigs due to her injuries. Gutsy lady. Respect.
