Here I get the basic story, and it is really funny. An innocent farmboy meets a couple of other worldly characters. One of them is an old grey wizard. The farmboy learnes that he is the "seeker" who is destined to defeat the dark lord. The dark lord tries but fails to kill him as an infant. The baby is adopted by farmers, after his mother died. The farmboy is given a magical book and sword. I am new to the show. Yet this is so familiar, because the same tropes occer in other fantasy stories.
simply put, this show would have lasted longer and been much better had they actually kept to the story! in the first 30 mins it completely butchers the story aside from their names! if you read the book there is plenty of action without screwing with it! ugh stupid tv people...
FYI, the guy playing Zed Is legendary fantasy / sci-fi actor Bruce Spence. He was the Gyro Captain in the last two Mad Max films, The Mouth of Sauron in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, the Trainman in The Matrix Revolutions, and Tion Medon in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. I think He's perfect for this role. Up till recently he's been a very under used, & under rated actor.

if people have watched up to the second season they will see that the show plays out like the book but the story is explained not all at once but in pieces along the way..

But the Seeker is NOT NOT destined to destroy evil. The Seeker is himself and his own path, guided only by his own belief and the quest for truth.
...I'm not saying that nobody else should enjoy this, but I personally give up. This series is not for me if they can't even stick to what the Sword of Truth IS.

Eragon's good....but the Sword of Truth novels are eons better. And while I don't agree with the way Legend of the Seeker got filmed, Terry Goodkind worked with Sam Raimi so there's that author approval...besides, the actors are pretty good and the plot still rocks. But that's my opinion. :] Have fun reading or watching or whatever!
Don't ever compare Eragon to the Sword of truth. Eragon is a piece of crap that can't hold a candle to the sword of truth. Not that this mockery is good enough but even it is better than Eragon. This is still a joke though, I can't even finish watching it. I love those books

Sword of Truth novels were in a completely different league when compared to Eragon. Don't get me wrong Eragon was a good read as well, but it just doesn't compare to the perfection that is the Sword of Truth Novels. ;)

Even though the books and movie are nothing alike, it still is excellently done. You must admit that movies are usually way different, sometimes in a better or more entertaining way. This is my new favorite TV series. :P

the sword itself is no more than a tool, theat the seeker was the true weapon
