@pujanairr If you read Queen of the Damned, Louis confesses to his love for Lestat. And Lestat wrote that he was thinking to himself that he does love Louis but doesn't dare say it outloud . The reason why Lestat had turned Louis originally was because he loved the fact that Louis was so melancholy, Lestat wanted a hunting partner... he also liked the fact that Louis was lonely and in need of someone. Everyone loves Lestat so naturaly Louis couldn't resist liking Lestat.

Okay...okay. I really don't know how much more clear I can be on this, so I'm just going to try it again. I did NOT make this video for any other purpose than to share my love of the relationship between Louis and Lestat in a way that I see it. The song does not reflect word for word how I view it. I don't think I quite understand how to interpret it in any other way. Maybe I'm being narrow-minded and dense, but if you could kindly share your views. And a debate is not a fight, its a way of sharing opinions, and helping others to further understand a topic. =D

Well there is a huge difference between Anne Rice's words and how she actually made them look in the book, and how they are portrayed in the film. It may have been Anne's intention to not portray them as lovers, but OBVIOUSLY she didn't do such a good job at that point, because there is a GOOD REASON why some MANY people see them as lovers. You can debate and deny this fact as much as you want to (just to suit how YOU want hem to be), but there will always be a lot of people seing them as lovers

Well, I've actually become to see that in Anne's image they are supposed to be both, lovers and close friends but the thing is, in the books Anne describes the relationship so that it's open for interprations - which is why there is so many seeing them as lovers and so many seeing them as merely close friends. And which is why I believe she chose to describe it just with the words "love hate relationship" instead of "love affair". (:

Anne has also said it isn't essential to imagine them as lovers - she said this about the Lestat&Nicki relationship but as Nicki's crucial for Lestat's feelings for Louis... It not being essential to imagine them as lovers I think is the thing that's obvious, seeing to how open with the description, she's left the nature of their love. So it' s not about how anyone wants to see them - it's how we genuinely see them. So, in the light of all this, it would indeed be pointless to debate. (:

Lestat does love Louis, but Louis doesn't realize it and misunderstands Lestat. And yes, the Nicki and Lestat relationship is essential in understanding this, because a huge part of the reason Lestat is the way he is when Louis meets him, has to do with his past and what happened with Nicki. Lestat is a very lonely character, but Louis couldn't see past the charismatic facade.

Louis hates Lestat (amongst the love), their relationship is, a love hate relationship. But it doesn't mean Lestat doesn't have valid reasons to love Louis as deeply and passionately as he does - it's just that this song is not what I feel he'd sing to Louis and even less that the other way around. This song is not about just love. As fat as I see it, when a heart is searching for a home, it is about much bigger matter than love. Something that makes you whole. Louis % Lestat rather collided.

But Louis never loved Lestat... in the book Louis said that the only reason that he remained with Lestat is because Lestat made him believe that there were things about being a vampire, dangers that Louis didn't know and that he did. When Louis finally got over those fears he made Claudia, and Louis couldn't leave then because it would have been dangerous for him to have tried to leave alone, and he wasn't willing to put Claudia at risk as well.

You haven't read past Interview With The Vampire, have you? U_U If you had, you would know that Louis actually tells Lestat that he loves him in Queen of the Damed and Tale of the Body Thief. Though you could tell in The Vampire Lestat that he does as well...from both their reunion and the happenings at Lestat's concert. So yes, Louis loved Lestat...he just didn't realize how much until later books.

I believe the actors were well chosen. Even if I would have never visioned Cruise and Pitt as vampires, I think the characters of the novel were portrayed perfectly.

But Lestat was a kind of sad character in this first book, if I am not mistaken we didnt see Lestat returns at the end of this book, and that was so sad!!. But in the movie he added a bit of "Lestat The Vampire" book, so we can see Lestat happy returns at the end of the movie in the movie!!! I love that.
