  • The blonde cellist looks like me. I play violin but now I know I would look awesome paying cello too! :)

  • This is SO beautifu! I can feel the emotion grabbing me into it. :')

  • I love this piece! We're playing this at my college Christmas concert, at 3:05 is my favourite part, where the cellos have the melody

    Love Britten!

  • I really like how you guys played it. Its for my high school tryouts and Im really glad this is on you tube so I can get ready to play it for my teacher. Always good to listen to the song your playing before you play it ^.~

  • photonXspark are you second violin?

  • i love that song!

but the orchestra is not a good one. they play it very well but it´s bad how they all sit!

  • who is your conductor?

  • beautiful song, when my orchestra and i played in for a middle school concert in nyc half of us started crying. so incredibly emotional.

  • I'm playing this in my class and at 3:11 where the cellos begin and then the 1st violins take over really sounds like a lullaby or something, but I don't know from where. It just sounds really familiar. Any idea where I could have heard it before somewhere?

  • @berriesandscream Haha Viva la Vida by Coldplay?

  • like the piece a lot ... me and my high school orchestra are about to play this at contest this saturday ..one thing ... not enough contrast between the pianos and fortes and crescendos and decrescendos- no emotion basically

  • i love this piece, i played it with my orchestra 2 years ago

  • Yea. Im a viola and we are about to play this for a concert.

  • oh gosh... its terrible!

the VIOLAS need A LOT <--- (should be underlined and in bold) of work.

  • yes definitely out of tune....euch..poor song.

  • no it's not you...zu0832 it's not 'someone playing out of tune' either... they all are playing out of tune there is not one note in tune. At least this orchestra (?) doesn't move so much as to be seen in other amature performances.

  • is it just me or is someone playing out of tune?

  • personally, this is my absolute favorite ensemble ever created, It made me cry when we performed it for competition last year...absolutley beautiful

  • I played this piece in Carnegie Hall.

    I love it!

  • oh, i was watching it again... and at rehersal number five thru six, it was terrible.... the parts were not together properly.. no offense.

  • sorry, i meant rehersal numbers six through seven! (i think...) idk... i don't have my sheet music with me... it's right after viola's stop pizz!

  • (see post on playful pizz) yeah, this was my favorite of them all.... it was sooooo much fun... i love songs that are dark and stuff. unlike the other ones, we went slower on this one to make it even more suspenseful... awesome job other than some intonation problems and such.

  • a few intonation problems but overall its pretty good...im playing the first violin part in my city orchestra

  • ahh my school is trying to play this song as well as the other 3 pieces by Britten. wooo go First violins! id agree its reptitive, but its supposed to be that way, like all melodramatic and stuff.

  • hahaha. I'll make sure to tell my teacher this, lol.

  • Ugh! I love the song, but this movement(I play cello) is so boring. Great movement to express emotion, but too repetitive. Great Song(loved Playful Pizzacato)

  • we're doing this except our orchestra is waaaay bigger. really nice cello sound =]

  • that was really good. =) is this a high school orchestra??? my orchestra is doing this piece to. what i really love is the rich base and cello parts in this piece. i would have liked for you guys to be a bit softer on your p's and pp's cause then the agitato part and the crescendos much more striking, but none the less that was a great performance!!! very well interpreted

  • It might as well be a highschool orchestra. I'm in uni, but our orchestra has uni students and highschool students.

  • i agree wit kleineinqwerpenner, and i love this song...i am trying to play it with our youth orchestra. there is only one bad thing about this song: it either sounds great, or it sounds horrible. there is eaither no inbetween or a very small in between. never the less when these guys play it, it makes it look...well...simple. i cant say the same acout our orchestra in spokane.

  • This is my orchestra ^_^. we did pretty good on this piece. It really helps if you practice this piece slowly and with lots and lots of vibrato.

  • I think it-s better without vibrato...

  • @lyralary Blasphemy!

  • @Xenocide31337 I know... But i prefer. :)

  • I love this movement... Playful Pizz. I could do without tho lmfkao!x

  • i love playing this song!(my class is doing it right now =D)

  • My high school is attempting to play this song, were going to our MPA (this is my favorite)

  • Very awesome, there is a lot of emotion in this piece, and they pulled it off very well.

  • beautiful song.. u definitely put your soul into the enlightened music! im playin this song and ..umm.. yea frolic finale and american suite XD i luv the celestial sound

  • great job!

    and gorgeous piece

    really emotional

  • Thank you! ^_^

  • man i can't believe it^_^ im playing this for festaval here in so cal ^_^ we sound pretty good its true though you can put ur soul into this music^_^

  • Good luck! And have fun! ^_^

  • Ty^_^ and i will....im also playing concerto grosso and i think it was symphony number 15^_^ but yea...you guys are good sound just like the orginal except some parts were off^_^ i noticed it....but yea i've been playing violin for 8 years now what instrument do you play?

  • I'm a violinist as well =P

We're playing concerto grosso again this semester lol. I don't know why our director keeps doing that. We get newer, harder music, but we play at least one song we've already done haha

This semester we're working on Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, the original Star Wars and some other piece. I forget the name at the moment lol. It's the Indiana Jones thing. The original one.

  • yea it was the same sorta when we had our old teacher she used to challenge us every year and not play the same music over....but its cool cause at our high school they have chamber after school^_^ we played mostly brandenberg though but either way was good set of music

  • very nice sounding, doing research on a project for orchestra and found this peice. How old do you think this orchestra is?? They play better than ours, but then again, we're freshmen.

  • This is my orchestra from the spring semester of 2007 lol

Colorado State University-Pueblo String Orchestra spring '07

  • very well done, i just think the cellos are kind of drowned out by the violins...

although i'm a cellist so when my orchestra plays this piece the cellos sound a lot louder xD

  • lol yea we have a lot more violins than cellos. Plus only a few of the cellists play confidently so that may be why you don't hear them as well =P

  • Our school orchestra plays it too. I play the double bass;)

  • excellent piece of music! Well done.

  • Why thank you very much! ^_^

  • I am playing this peace and more from Simple Symphony music at my high school concert. Cellos Rulz!

  • BOO!!

    Violins FTW!!!

    haha

  • Lovely - I didn't know this piece. Wonderful composition!

  • Why thank you Mr. Harmer! ^_^

School has started again and that means orchestra starts! woot! I will post the new concert when we do it. I have no idea when that will be because we havn't even had practice yet =P

  • peanut butter. that's what this song needs: peanut butter.

  • lol is that a good thing?
