@schiru3 download superoneclick and plug your phone in to your computer. Than press 'root' and wait a sec. Done! Reboot your system and it's ready to use
I know this probably sounds super noob but after removing stock apps, if you ever factory reset or unroot for whatever reason will they come back again?
Android has the stupidest OS ever. I prefer the old OS on old Sony Ericsson before Android. My Samsung Galaxy S2 is a great phone, but Android is soooo bad. It keeps killing itself by letting programs running in the background all over the place.. Dumbest OS ever. What little experience I have with iOS is much better than Android OS.
Is this REALLY the only fucking way to do this? That's a goddamn nightmare to go through just to get rid of predatory factory apps that shouldn't fucking be there in the first place.
Hey can you please help me in rooting my handset? I am holding Samsung galaxy 3 I5801... I tried so many ways but no luck yet. I have upgraded to 2.2 and recently wiped out all the cached data.
hey guys there's an app that will do all these steps, and typing for you. It's called --->Root browser lite<---, from JRummy16 better than having 2 apps, you'll only need one, and you won't have to type the file name.
it's not working for my evo 4g. it looks exactly how it does in the video only when i exit out of the termination app, the app i'm trying to delete is still there.
oh please, this can be done so much more easier. Just download the free version of titanium backup (there are other backup / file mananger apps able of doing this as well) and go to the second tab; Backup / replace.
There you can see all installed apps, services, widgets everything. Select one, and delete it, just make sure you don't throw away system service's...
So i tried everything you did in this video, and my the terminal emulator tells me that all of the apps i want to uninstall are write only programs. Did i do something wrong?
Tried the command "mount -o rw,remount /system" but did not work.
What version of android did you use this command on? I am on Android 2.1 and it would not accept this command. It did give me options though on how to use it, but to me it means nothing. Not technical at all.
you dont even need to use the terminal emulator, install the app Titanium Backup from the Market and u can delete stock apps from that, much faster, and much easier!

For all the people who have the "read only file" problem. I did the following:
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblk3 /system
rm /system/app/FILE-NAME-HERE.apk
This helped for me!

@leadergames hi rooted my galaxy s2 (so the yellow warning sign shows at the start) installed these applications and tried all of this :P
I'm still getting some error messages, after trying the mount command i get:
Usage: mount [-r] [-w] [-o options] [-t type] device directory
then after trying the rm command on one of my annoying stock apps i get:
rm failed for /system/app/Appstore20110121.apk, Read-only file system
Gah! Any idea whats going on? :P

do you know how i can change the file permissions in the app folder from read to read, write and execute? after i type
mount -o rw,remount /system
it says Usage: mount [-r] [-w] [-o options] [-t type] device directory,
and after i type
rm -r /system/app/FILE-NAME-HERE.apk
it says i don't have permission since its a read only file.
Anyways, great video.
