I miss watching these take off from RAF Marham. What a lovely noise they make. I wish they would paint one of them back into the camouflage livery of the 1970s and 80s. It reminded me of a Friesian cow to look at painted like that.
All airframes (and there are only two that would be candidates) are out of flying hours and it would mean a total re build (I don't even know if that would even be an option) and several millions of pounds :(
I think the trouble with the Victor is not that they were less robust than the Vulcans (they were less able to sustain the stresses of low level flight, that's true, but then they didn't do much low level flying when converted to tankers...) the real problem is that the Vulcans had an easier life & where retired earlier, whereas the Victors were flown as tankers until they had no fatigue life left. They gave a very long service life!!!
With hinsight one should've been allocated for display :(
Thanks, man, and great videos btw. I lived in the UK for a number of years, and I miss it badly. Home of some of the world's BEST aviation! Cheers to you, sir.
None of the Vicror airfframes left have any fatigue life left on them, and there are no mods to put any flight hours back. They are all past their life as flying machines, sad but true :(
Other than the accident a couple of weeks ago, there will never be another flying Victor.
Just enjoy the two that taxi :) it's as good as it will get :)
awesome i was there and on sunday did u hear well if u did u know what im on about and if you wernt then you wont but after that then i think shes perfectly airworthy

is there a reason for turning on jets like this on rainy days? or is it just the location?

Are there any plans to get a Victor flying again????

No. Is the simple answer I'm afraid :(.

Think how much it took to get the Vulcan flying.
It's just not viable sadly :(
I'd love to see one fly again :(

What now is the RAF's main A/C for in-flight refueling? Something made by BAE, right? I just don't know the designation.

The Vickers VC-10 and the Lockheed TriStar.
Although the VC-10s are on the way out :(
Can't remember off the top of my head what will replace them.
Although I think it's the Airbus A330 MRTT.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I've got it wrong :)
