PLEASE recall what happend in 1998 and 2000 to SL ARMY CAMPS in Elephant pass, Kilinotchi and Mullaitheevu. These were TRUE events.
Do you know how LTTE attacked these 3 cities at the same time and chased away SL ARMY and caused heavy casualities to SL ARMY. The same event will be repeated in year 2009.
SL ARMY is in LTTE's TRAP. YOu will see the ultimate SURPRISE FROM LTTE SOON.
wishful thinking,...but this time they dont "hold" any areas to recruit new carders and brain wash them, neither can they hold on to large cashes of weapons and ammo required for a such task.
any such attempts can be easily detected and interdicted. conventionally ltte has lost the war. thank you..
This report makes me confused. I heard Olumadu and Ampakamam areas were liberated by TF3 months ago. But according to this report Olumadu liberated yesterday. What's the truth??
Is it true that the Tigers wear vials of cyanide around their necks to use in case of capture? Do you think they will surrender? I looked up the city where they are to make their last stand on Google Earth.
Yes. LTTE is fighting a different war compare to many similar groups in the world. A very few Tigers surrendered to govt forces so far. SL army is doing its best to show surrendered Tigers are safe. Recently army managed to capture few female Tigers and shown them in the TV. Looks like they are being treated well.
Thanks frankmen3. I'm curious, how long do you think the Tigers will be able to hold out in their final stronghold? How much longer do you think this war will gone on? I hope for peace soon in Sri Lanka- it's a beautiful country. This war has brought nothing but death, destruction, and misery.
Thanks for the question. It is very difficult to repdict things in this conflict. But, the tigers have destroyed all other tamil vocies to become the sole representative of tamils. This has created a considerable vacume for moderate tamil voices. The result is that all other tamil political parties have become enemies of LTTE, and will be difficult for LTTE to survive even within a peaceful environment. Fall of LTTE stronghold is imminent, but don't underestimate its international presense.
Thanks for the insight. It amazes me that the LTTE still has support among Tamils. From my outsider's perspective they have brought nothing but death and destruction to the Tamils- and they've made the rest of the world hate them with their suicide bombs and whatnot.
Correct. Tamils were better of before the LTTE era. Sri Lanka didn't have the luxury of learing through mistakes because of LTTE's presense. For example, previous government has made a big political sacrifise by being so neutral about LTTE activities in the name of peace. My view is that LTTE's aim to get more international support by letting a nationalist goernment to come to the power was a bigger mistake than the assisination of Indian priminister Rajiv Ghandi.
What I find disturbing is what you said about how they eliminated any moderate Tamil voices so that they have in effect become the only voice for Tamils who might feel disenfranchised (of which there are many). I think there must be other Tamil voices come to the fore if there is to be lasting peace- voices that realize that they are not going to achieve their goals through suicide bombs.
