You know what might work - setup a VPN to change your location in the world. Just a thought - look at my site vastplanet(dotcom)/security-seals.html and see vpn at bottom.
@thesmashtvnetwork Suprised that skype doesn't work in your area. Another option is try a VPN service and change your location to anywhere in the world.
@thesmashtvnetwork the phone is really for VOIP and to use a Skype paid plan to make calls. The best solution for you is to use a computer and talk over skype to the Philippines for free (skype to skype). Another option is to check out vonage as they have a 60 country world plan that worked with excellent sound quality. Personally, I have used the free option to chat and talk from US to the Philippines.
@projectgadget i found skpe better than vonage just tryinng find some thing give me all can eat when calling philippine i call a lot my last month bill was a round 400$
That's the whole point. Having a desktop Skype phone that is connected to the internet via ethernet is superior to wireless for call quality. You should have both a wireless Skype solution and a hard line version if you use Skype alot. For me, I make international calls and need the consistency of a phone like this. Otherwise you hear echos and experience call drop outs on a wifi phone like the netgear for example. In addition call can be affected by router placement in wireless.
I was more interested in a cordless (not necessarily wifi) phone that also works as a landline phone- but they are all so expensive. Nice review anyways.
In that case pick up a Logitech Skype cordless phone. Worked good for me and used in the office. Has a distance of 150', good battery life and sound. Should be $75 or so and appreciate the feedback on the review. Always trying to make them better.
Not a problem, just also want to mention an alternative to Skype- ooma, you might have heard of them; you spend $250 once and its free lifetime service(although you may or may not be able to use it internationally). It uses you internet to make VOIP calls and works independently from your computer. I have had it since 08 and have had a very good experience, although recently the internet on computers and gaming consoles gets disconnected whenever someone uses the phone. BTW I am not affiliated.
By Internationally, I mean taking their whole "ooma hub" overseas to make free calls. You can make international calls from your house. And it also supports 911.
thanks for the tip, i already have unlimited calls in us and canada with verizon fios so skype is really for international. I like the one time fee you mentioned.
If you need to be wireless and can use wi-fi the only phone to get is the IPEVO S0-20 as everyone has raved about it. I haven't tried it personally but check that out. Let me know if you get the others. thx
Very good review, and very accurate information concerning the SOLO. I have one here, in addition to the S0-20, and love them both. Highly recommended.
Appreciate the feedback and haven't tried the IPEVO S0-20 yet and hoping one day I can! I just reviewed the P2V web cam today from IPEVO and another great product.
Question - do you like the longer video format (3 min) or a shorter (1 min) review?
you obviously haven't used IPEVO's SO-20 yet.. I'd check it out.. It's awesome.. Especially if you used the Netgear wifi phone, IPEVO's is way better.. laters, mike..
You are correct, I received the Skype desktop first and hopefully they will send me the S0-20 to review. I agree with you, my Netgear wifi is not used very much these days! thanks
Hey Mike, I only pay like $2.99 a month for my unlimited plan.. Then I paid another $30/year for my number.. I'd check it out if your paying $30/month.. i like your show... laters...
This if Jeff from IPEVO, whom you've been emailing with. Thank you very much for the high rating of our product. I've checked projectgadget but haven't seen the text review yet. Looking forward to see that.

@MrMarkuk1 it doesn't need a computer just an ethernet connection to your router or modem so yes would work with your setup.

Thanks for the info but that phone still needs a computer to work. I think I will settle for either Phillips VOIP 841 or RTX Dualphone 3088.
