hey guys...wassup? i started ti watch nascar by few yrs ago(not american) and seeing these finishes, it can be possible to have both cars EXACTLY at the same time for the checkered flag...both win or another lap?
@johnfudencio no they will go to the timeing thing which has a lot of numbers like 1.000000000000000 and which ever car has the biggest number which could b 0.0000000005 wins which could b impossible but never another lap and only 1 winner
@Snake180 the COT is awesome. The old car was really starting to suck and even though the COT had a lot of issues at the beginning, I think this season it's a heck of a lot better than the old car.
@MrRTrain61 yeah i know, what i meant to say was everytime when theres a close finish its mostly on FOX and yeah i know other close finishes were on other channels (like: TNT, ABC, etc).
07 Daytona 500 makes me cry. Lol. Im a huge Mark Martin fan. And nascar just doenst always do things the same way. Im glad they let em race to the line but i was beggin for a caution. He had the lead. He had the race. I dont think he will ever be in that position to win it again.
@MrJjthajetplane Ive been a fan since I was 5. I really think that race should have ended under a green white checker. Caution should have come out. I was begging for a Martin win at Daytona.
man NASCAR sucks nowadays. these were great finishes but seriously. i sleep during every single race. the ycan't even race anymore. if they bump or race they'll destroy there aerodynamics and be done. you used to see cars with no front bumper win races! They only have to go a on a 10 race hot streak to win a championship. and whoever gets in front runs away wit hit with clean air. you used to be at a disadvantage when in front. and Mike Hilton still claims racing has never been better. my ass!!!
@SaintBEEP I've been watching NASCAR since '87 and I honestly think 2010 and now 2011 have been a major upswing in NASCAR's on-track competition. Maybe not so much in the points battle, but definitely a lot of good racing going on since they've made the major improvements to the COT. It's now a lot better than the old car, for racing... I think.
@erasetoimprove What confuses me even more is that they keep repaving tracks that take skill to win at like Phoenix an Daytona. Know what tracks need to be repaved? The miel and a half ones like Las Vegas. You get out in front and take off. Case and Point:The most recent race at Las Vegas. You get out in front and you're gone. It's not racing, It's Follow the Leader
@SaintBEEP Well you seem to not really understand the effect of repaving a track. Repaving a track means the bottom line is the best, all that extra grip is what allows aerodynamics to be #1 which is why cars can take off. Las Vegas has surface which has not worn out yet, it was repaved not too long ago... which is exactly WHY it doesn't produce that great of racing. Daytona was falling apart, it needed to be repaved. Phoenix was getting there too. Las Vegas produced one of the best races
@SaintBEEP it's had in recent memory. Still not exactly a thriller, but as the pavement wears out it creates better racing at nearly every track. The only exceptions are flat short tracks, where repaving usually produces better racing. So even though repaving EVERY TRACK at times is a necessary evil, the key to good racing at any track is the pavement wearing out. The older a surface gets, usually the better the racing gets. And btw, there is only 1 track that required virtually no skill to
@SaintBEEP drive on, and that is currently Talladega. Las Vegas actually requires a lot of skill to keep the back end underneath the car. Did you not see them sawing at the wheel all race? Once the tire wore out, you have to work to stay in control at tracks like Las Vegas. It is simply a dillusion that tracks exist that require no effort to stay in control. Usually a more spread out field is a tall-tail sign that the track is more difficult. For example, Pocono... one of the toughest tracks.
@SaintBEEP in otherwords, when they're able to stay a big pack it is usually a sign that the track doesn't require much skill at all. The tracks where they get spread out more is where you can really see the skill needed come out.... because talent will always be more diverse than the cars and equipment. Which is why I personally don't mind spread out races, because those are the SKILL races... which appeal to hardcore fans as opposed to casual "we want 3 wide all the time" fans.
@SaintBEEP either way though... in terms of a surface... at 90% of the tracks you want the surface to get more worn out if it's good racing you're looking for. Repaving Las Vegas would completely reset the track back to what it was a couple years ago, which was much more boring than it is today. Give Las Vegas another 3 or 4 years, and we'll be seeing some of the better races there... and these "cookie cutter" tracks people cry about all the time will put on good shows too, for the same reason.
@SaintBEEP it's the bumps, ruts, and imperfections in a track which create the variables which is a big part of what puts on a good show. Just like longer races are usually better than short races, because it allows more time for those variables to come into play. The more variables and in-race changes, the better the racing in general. Sorry about all the responses, blame youtube's character limit lol. I just feel that many people misunderstand the true nature of repaving and the aging process.
The most incredible thing in the #1 finish was that this moment happened at Darlington, where is one of the hardest tracks to go 2 wide and these guys were 2 wide pratically 2 entire laps.
@SaintBEEP I disagree with that, the shouldnt have thrown the yellow whats the point, rob the fans of a good finish, when there 200 yards from the line and the wrecks behind them
@EarnhardtsYear08 true, but if you remember a little earlier or later, i'm not sure, but when Bobby Hamilton won the truck race at daytona, Jimmy Spencer beat him to the line after everyone behind him wrecked, however Bobby was given the win because when caution came out, he was leading, but this wasn't done here....
@EarnhardtsYear08 so your saying in that situation they race back to the line, but in this race Bobby won they judge by caution, i give up on you, you have given away your entire argument by saying that they should have thrown a caution.
