@tnt17baby Yes , it just cost way too much to bring them there, I think Micky( the promoter at that time) had to put up a lot of money, and the way it can rain at Monroe. it just wasn't worth. Evergreen just needs to be repaved it would be an awesome track.
You won't see them go back to any of those tracks unless they are updated to today's safety standards and unless that track can financially afford to host a race at it. Those well liked short tracks were hit hard by the late 2000's recession, including the famous Milwaukee Mile (which is my nearby track).
man, this used to be the only major nascar race we got around here this track is only 25 minutes away from me, the next closest track is down in California about 1,000 miles south
Man these were the days where trading paint was racing. These guys weren't afraid to mix it up or trade paint back then. I sure do miss the short tracks and road coarses. Oh, and do away with the tapered spaces Im sick of them it makes for boring racing.
though I do agree with you, I don't necessarily find the racing "boring" now. Sure, it ain't what it used to be, but the trucks are still a bright spot in NASCAR. But can you imagine, trucks at the good ole tracks, even North Wilksboro, that would be awesome
Yea you're right about that. The trucks IMO will always be a bright spot in Nascar. It just sure isn't what it used to be but I'll always like the truck series the most.
Yup, its really sad that all we see the trucks run on now is 1.5 mile tracks every week. Boring. Do you remember the days where these guys had to RACE back to the line to get their lap back and not this stupid Aarons "lucky dog" crap? RIP Truck series 1995-2003.
You know, I really miss these days of the Super Trucks. Granted this race, it was the Craftsman Truck Series but I miss the old tracks they used to go to. Mesa Marin, Evergreen (this track), Salem, didn't they go to Hickory too? I miss those tracks like none other.
Not only that but the racing (especially truck racing) just seemed ALOT more competitive then too. Todays racing is a joke compared to what it used to be even in the truck series... ehh the Nascar Craftsman Truck series. I remember the fierce rivalries in the 90s between Hornaday and Sprague. Racing will never be the same again thanks to Nascar.
@ewertjoe those were the golden days of NASCAR, late 90s and early 2000's, but the trucks were the best...if only they'd gone to Irwindale like they planned to at one point
They moved away for the added grandstand space, but what's wrong with North Wilkesboro, Pike's Peak, Music City(nashville), or Mesa? the truck series shouldn't have ignored Mesa Marin, site of the first truck race. As for salem....CUP RACE PLEASE! that place is better even than Bristol
no it wasn't the first nascar supertruck series presented by craftsman race was at pheonix's copper world classic in 1995. in 1996 it was renamed the craftsman truck series.
7,000th view! Great job. This video was great.

@tnt17baby Yes it is. It's a pretty good track.
I wish the Trucks would race on more short tracks instead of these cookie-cutters...

"Ryan McGlynn has tagged the inside barrier on the backstretch..."
Just a little bit of an understatement.
