  • Simple Man, Lynyrd Skynyrd, 1973. Written in an hour, shortly after Ronnie Van Zant's grandmother and Gary Rossington's mother died. Van Zant wrote the lyrics based on advice the women had given them over the years. "I think anybody out there needs to respect their mother, and the words of their mother. It's mama talking to you in that song" Johnny Van Zant~ I hope thi answers and question out their. Happy Mother's Day =]

  • @toyfarm1

I hear you. This song always reminds me of my mom (rip). For me, it speaks to who my mom was and the words are exactly what she would say to me. She didn't wish for me to be rich just happy.

  • Wanted to play this at my Mom's funeral! Was afraid Dad and Sis wouldn't go along with it! Means alot to me and so did she! :-)

  • @DJHUSTMONEY sorry i misspelled some things

  • @DJHUSTMONEY Thank you,His brother does not have the soul and feeling in his voice to sing Ronnie VanZants songs. As much as I love THE ORIGINAL LYNARD SKYNARD,I would rather hears recordings than for his brother to try to duplicate their songs.I don't think he sounds like Ronnie.

  • missed you boo for many yrs. will always love u.

  • IMO, musically and lyrically, the greatest song ever written and recorded!!! The lyrics to this song just SIMPLY say it all. The music that was put around the lyrics of this song couldn't have fit anymore perfect if Skynyrd had tried. TJMO.

  • you're right big, van zant was unbeatable!

  • R.I.P Ronnie Van Zant. Nobody has been able to fill your shoes like you did. (New Skynyrd, of course, is still awesome.) But there could only be ONE Ronnie!

  • Skynyrd

  • It cant get any better than Skynard....

  • Comment removed

  • This is the original recording of Simple Man off of their first studio album Pronounced Lynyrd Skynyrd. The two guitarist are Gary Rossington and Allen Collins. When this album was recorded, Ed King was playing bass guitar at the time. He played bass on the album. Later, Ronnie told Ed he was the worst bass player he has ever heard, and Ed moved back to third guitar and they got Leon Wilkeson to rejoin the band.

  • who the fuck are the guitarists at 3:44?

  • Does anyone know if there is a video of this live with teh Orignal Line up?

    thanks

  • Best song ever, Best band ever, Best EVER!!! R.I.P Lynyrd Skynyrd you ae the greatest!

  • 111111

  • just saw skynyrd

its amazing that they still continue to play even though all they've been through

  • I'm wearing my Skynyrd shirt right now. It's really holy and torn since I've had it since I was in 8th grade, but I don't plan on throwing it away untill it's not wearable.

  • I am wearing my Skynyrd shorts, Rolling stone Mag started a line...I picked up some Skynyrd shorts and a nice tight Skynyrd ladies cut T, and I got 12 free issues of Rolling Stone Mag with each item. And now I represent Skynyrd from front to back( Lynyrd Skynyrd across my bootie and on the front as well.

DUDE DON'T EVER THROW IT AWAY!

  • This song means a lot to me. I told my son to listen to it and live it!

  • ya, lynyrd skynyrd is the best southern rock band of all time!

  • ABB imo, close though

  • @SteveGLS I encourage everyone to find out everything they can about the Lynyrd Skynyrd band and pass it on to your children, your friends, even strangers you meet.

This music is a part of our life and we must never let it fade away...God bless everyone!

  • @SteveGLS

    Amen brother.

  • skynyrnd is the the group of all groups well the old syknyrd the new one sounds like an washed up country group and im a hardcore syknryd fan but these new guy dont have what ronnie, gray, allen, steve, billy, and artmus had and never will

  • @81RodHot I happen to think Johnny Van Zant is just as talented as his big brother and he has done a phenomenal job of filling Ronnie's shoes which I may like to add is not an easy task I'd love to see you try. oh and FYI it's GARY not gray and Artemis not Artemus stupid stoner

  • @BoromirGurl26 i agree but it is hard to fill someones shoes who made such an impact in music ....... johnny is awsome

  • @babygurlblink182 Not a big fan of Shinedown, but hey everyone is entitled to their opinion as long as you don't say Kid Rock's version of Sweet Home Alabama was good. I feel he butchered that

  • @SteveGLS LETS PLEASE BAN SHINEDOWNS VERSION IT'S GOT TO BE THE WORST COVER OF ANY SONG I'VE EVER HEARD NOT TO MENTION THE DISRESPECT TO LS.

  • @magsterndaze shinedowns version is the best cover i have herd in a long time

  • sucks that ronnie died, in case you don't know who that is, ronnie van zant was the original lead singer of lynyrd skynyrd, he is the one singing in this video, he died in a plane crash in the 70's

  • I go to the same school Lynyrd skynyrd went to in Jacksonville Florida!!

  • @DerangedSlayer13 Thanks for the video. It's a beautiful song, absolutely awesome.. I never heard it till recently, it was on the introduction to another video on youtube 'Jordan Maxwell close encounters'
