The Lobotomy offered her freedom. Freedom from the pain torture, guilt from everyday life. She happily excepted it. Thats what the whole scene with the guy meant. Thats why she offered herself to him. A very beautiful film. they shouldve kept this in.

The brothel world has to vaguely represent what's happening, and it has to be a brothel to make objectification the girls are being subjected to in reality bearable with the cool attitude. So a lobotomy is the worst thing you can be faced with, she has to face the worst thing that can happen to a girl in a brothel. Virgins can be sold to brutal men.

I don't like this ending, with the extra bit with her in the room with the high roller. It was cut out of the original film and meant that BabyDoll was still a virgin at the end (Although working in a brothel would end that pretty soon xD). I don't like this because she completely changes and its not her, it's completely stupid. This is not Babydoll, this is not Babydoll and I'm glad they completely cut the thing. I think the makers recognised this when they edited the film.

that wasnt the ending on the movie i saw at all... the one i saw is.. where you see the girl who escaped taking the bus and leaving the town forever to somewhere new looking like a new person and the the screen switches to the lab room where babydoll is on a chair and it staring right ahead blankly and the cops come in and they realise shes gone.

I don't know about this ending. In the movie we focus much more on Sweet Pea than Babydoll and I don't think the goal of Zack Snyder was that Babydoll sees the lobotomy as a way of freedom, I think it's just the ultimate way to free Sweet Pea. The lobotomy is more a sacrifice than a way of freedom. But I have to say that this scene is really sad but I didn't cry because with this movie I am more than sad, I think it's something more. I don't know what but it is intense.

This scene always makes me tear up, and this time I cried. I love the whole scene, but from 4:50 on is what gets me. I can understand perfectly why she chose this metaphor in her alternate reality. Wanting complete and total freedom, freedom from all the things he listed--and at the end, freedom to love. I understand that longing. And I like how it's made clear that this is her choice, just like the lobotomy was her choice. This scene is perfect.

Okay, so I guess this makes the ending not...SO bad... The "High-Roller's" having sex with her was a metaphor for the lobotomy. So, after considering the results, Babydoll would have prefered the lobotomy after all in light of all the traumas that happened to her, so she wouldn't have to live with the psychological pain for the rest of her life.

Now, she can stay inside of her little fantasy world forever, the "world that she controls."

...Man was this a depressing ending.
