  • I was only 11 at the time this song came out. but talk about grab ya! Ane yes, anti Vietnam war and depicts the drug use while the troops were there...not only Americans, but Canadians, French and everone else who fought! God Bless The Most Canadian Band Ever...The Guess Who!!!

  • This is the only group that should sing this song. All the others are just imitations.

    CANADA

  • @TrinhTom AND....you would be so right! Most awesome band we Canadians have ever produced! Just a little prejudiced being a western Canadian myslef!

  • when it comes to the guess who or Rolling Stones who isnt stoned

  • the 13 dislikes are from the members of the fake the guess who that are touring today. Guess Who's in the band this year???? haha I heard that one from Burton himself. Do yourselves a favour and FLAG every video of that fake band

  • .then, there is still the case of mark emery, the canadian entreupreneur extradited from canada by the usa for selling pot seeds. hes currently in a u.s. slammer serving a 5 year sentence. whaddya think? huh?

  • that drum beat when he comes in is so wet

  • amazing that Burton Cummings can chain smoke Kool's and still hit all the high notes that he does in the studio..no wonder Robert Plant cites Burton as his favorite rock vocalist....D

  • american women ;o)

    fed rock

  • 3:45 It would be doing his fans a disservice if he didn’t play the hell out of the cow bell!

  • Americian woman

  • Yes mate I'll have a couple American woman thank you

  • I wonder if that guy at 2:48 even renembers being there ? Nothing worse than an overly stoned pot head hes not even fun to be around he has no idea where he is!

  • @kingers36 He knows how to dance

  • Is it just me or does me sounds like jack black for the last minute and seven seconds?

  • God Bless Canada, but if we sang an anti-canadian woman song it would be utterly ridiculous. I don't miss this singer...

  • @609Blondebomb that is because as an American you have blinders on from thinlking yours is the whole universe. Not your fault. At a ball game your marines turned our flag upside down and thought it was no big deal. What would happen if we turned yours upside down at a game? think that would bother anyone? this song fits perfectly, you just don't want to wear it...

  • @19nervousbreak The way the marines act, you can turn one of them on their head for all I care. :)

  • @609Blondebomb UR an assHOLE God bless the USA .Marines U go

  • @miimeowjess Really, Jessica, as an American woman, you should be thinking of this in the same way as I am. This was an anti war song written during the Vietnam war and is very anti marines as well as anti American so if you want to call ME an asshole you go ahead, but you're missing the entire point. I'm an American with Marines as friends and they'll let me put them on their heads whenever I want.

  • @miimeowjess 'tard... the lyrics to American Woman are from the of the perspective of small-town, Canadian country-bumpkin going American big cities. It's from a small town conservative perspective. You're retarded, and you should know better since all

American small-town folk hate the people from the big cities because they're too liberal and don't have sticks up their asses like the people from the so-called "real" america

  • Mi tio Randy.

  • her voice are familiar to Robert plant

  • With the cigarette in his hand at the mic - how cool is that? :D

  • @Cygna1 I don't think that's a cigarette.There's no filter, isn't round like a manufactured cigarette.

  • @midsizedwhiteboy It is a Gauloises - a French cigarette.

  • @midsizedwhiteboy If you are sure.I figured it was somethingelse.Thanks.

  • @midsizedwhiteboy It is a dart(ciggi)..... some people still roll them themselves still today, that's what Zig Zags are supposed to be used for.... lol

  • best shirt at 2:49 .....by far

  • never seen such a great band look so bad and play mediocre Burton Cummings looks higher then a kite...oh well....

  • @uptonman666 I said "to me". To me, its an anthem for womanising dullards around the globe. Including the 'nucks.

  • @uptonman666 You my friend are an ass!

  • To me, this song is about a Canadian jagoff whos not good with real women. American women are where its at.

  • I used to listen to this song when I was like 10, it was just awesome to me. That's the power of Rock.. great band!

  • oh look its ron jeremy! haha

  • Just not the same band without the original vocalist, Chad Allan.

  • They sounded pretty good here. Bachman is using a Roland GR guitar synth.

  • 2:48

  • great example of Canadian cranial rectal inversion

  • Austin Powers! yay

  • lol at guy 2:48 is he stonned out his box or what.

  • @titzanaz Yeah I guess David Crosby behind him has been passing him spliffs all night :)

  • the original LOL

  • swagger on.............

  • goodbye elen of i

  • I would think the "smoke" could wait till after the song you tacky bastard. Lol.

  • bill wallace was a hell of alot better than kale was on bass

  • Holding a cigarette while on stage: Talk about addicted!

  • Why isn't Dale Russel in this video?

  • @tuffcookieez ---not to be rude but dale russel was not the orginal lead vocal on the record thats why, burton cummings and randy bachman wrote this song i can tell tell u think dale russel was a orginal member he wasn't well when tgw hit there stride in late 60's it was burton cummings that brought them the sucess.

  • @tornadomanatwork Thanks okay!! :)

  • 2:49 Howard Wolowitz at bottom right corner.

  • @MattJakeman haha lol yeah

  • makes me wanna tell my american woman to stay away from me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This song was made up on the spot during a on stage jam. Randy played that riff to warm up --and burton sang the first thing that came to his mind--american women. Classic.

  • I saw them live in Vancouver about a year ago, he sounds amazing even though he has grown so old, truly an amazing artist.

  • You can't not saytheir music out the door. It still has a message today for the our youth.

  • he sounds just like Frank Marino not so long ago

  • at 2:51 that dood is really rocking out !!

  • Too cool, dude's smoking while he belts it out !

Don't see that much any more in this pussified, politically correct, world.

  • 6:39 XD

  • Really cool song, but the singer looks like a complete fool with that stupid cigarette.

  • @tchimmerroks Fuck off sissy!!

  • @tchimmerroks Yeh, but back in the day, that was "cool".

  • God bless Winnipeg and the Guess Who !!!!!

  • @trnka900 I'm an atheist and I love your comment! This is one of the most underated bands of all time!! The original members, are the only way to remember them! I don't care where anyone come's from, or what their beliefs might be.... rock and roll will always set you free!

  • Canada FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • missed the second note, lol. Love em!

  • Nice post......thank you!

    Beauty!

Congrats to The Guess Who.......Canada's # 1 tune!

  • congrats........canada's top tune

  • Awesome :D

  • incase no one has said it MORE COWBELL!

  • Always loved The Guess Who - what a wonderfull performance !!!!!!

  • Can't believe so few people listen to Burton Cumming's music these days - such a GREAT artist - composer, pianist, the works!

  • @jrjackson49 I still listen to him!! I have always loved him. He is amazing!

  • 2:49 Ron Jeremy win!

  • Take those old records off the shelf. I like that old time rock & roll.

  • buenasa la cancion unas de las mejores de lso 70s

  • How many of you who are born in the 90s and think you should've have been born in the 70s, or 80s...lol. I do.

  • You know when a band is good when they can do well live. Lemme tell you, THIS BAND IS REALLY GOOD!

  • Live at the Paramount was a fantastic album where can i find those tracks?

  • Okay ecxept for the cancer stick hanging out of Burton's mouth!

  • Coolest arrangement ever!! Love the singer - no one can compare to him. Lenny K killed it completely . Sorry Lenny, but no, not really. This original is the greatest. I play it all the time!!!!!!!!!!

  • I've always Loved the Guess Who.... but, like everything, Time Takes Its Toll.... Burton's voice isn't even close to what it was when he was young....

  • @riod4me Burton lost the edge to his voice a long long time ago. And I'm sure that smoking did not help him one bit.

  • @Treaty4 have u heard his above the ground ...sounds hella good ..

  • wow dude, he looks a bit like Jack Black. specially dat ribidibidoo thing he does.

  • Led Zepplin sounds much better then The Guess Who by far.

  • @bigguy457 they are SO different. you cant even compare them.

  • @bigguy4570 man.... im a huge fan of the both of them, but they are completely different styles..... led zeppelin never did a song like these eyes. there are different reasons to like both of them. i like them both equally.

  • @ledzeppfan1000 Thanks for your reply and you are right there styles are different and I like them as well.

  • @bigguy4570 -not quit...

  • the stoned kid is soo funny 2:50

    Robert Plant

  • To all, American Woman was released before Whole Lotta Love.... Ergo Led Zeps song would sound like The Guess Who song......How anyone can say that Zep sounds like Guess Who is beyond me. Zep is an all blues based band with one hell of a drummer. The Guess Who was all over the place. I love both groups, and was about seventeen when they first came out..... Four and eight tracks!!!!!!!!!!!!! Muntz and Craig.

  • would be? nah, it is a great song, the lyrics are awesome.

  • This would be a great song if the lyrics weren't so dumb.

  • randy bachman practically looks fit & toned here.

  • it does sound a lot like zeppelin, especially the vocals

  • This is from 1983

  • more cowbell !!

    fist pumping driven beat

  • Damn good Canadians! the first time I heard this song, was in "American Beauty", and I thought it was Led Zeppelin! The main riff sounds almost the same as Jimmy Page's riffs, and even vocals sound like Robert Plant. Anyway, Great song, pure rock n roll. Good Old Times

  • The vox don't sound like Zeppelin at all, but now that I think about it they could have been Plant lyrics. Zep would have covered the shit out of this.

  • Well dude, maybe for you they don't sound like Led Zeppelin, but I said, that it reminds me LEd Zeppelin. really, main riff reminds me "Whole Lotta Love".

  • Actually I couldn't agree more. The main riff is a V-VII-I progression which I believe is used on at east one Zep song (something from II?)

  • @alexohncoe r u thinking of rock and roll by led zepplin or wholle lotta love?

  • Well, the vocals are a lot like WLL, but I was talking about the chords. But now that I think about it, Zeppelin never used a V-VII-I progression in the studio.

  • Burton Cummings is still sexy as hell..

  • 2:49 that guys was fuckin baaaked

  • @pow23mia what a nice publicity for molson export!

  • RB all glassy eyed & totally hammered. You can only get away with that when you're under 50 or so..it's good to know he cleaned up.

  • For those of us there that night, this was one of the best concerts in Canadian history. I paid big bucks to get the 10th row center at the time. $140.00 for two.

  • Damn! UDS or CAD? You must be a great fan! Thumbs up for you!

  • Canadian dollars. Best 140 bucks I ever spent. We even got on camera twice.

  • My God, at one time 40 seemed so old. But Randy and Burton are still doing it 20 + years later. American Woman does need the second guitar though, it was a great idea to add Donnie McDougall to the 2000 -2003 reunion band. And Bill Wallace completed the band as well.

  • i thought bill was a hell of alot better bass than kale ever was

  • Totally agreed. Bill Wallace is definitely a better bassist than Kale.

  • @gqjohnny Was there a reason Jim Kale didn't do the tour? They said that the travelling was an issue, but it seems like it was deeper than that.

  • @gqjohnny I couldn't have said it better myself. Much better than the 83 reunion, and waaaay better than Kale's Klowns..

  • Toronto, eh? I'm pretty sure I was there, almost 25 years ago. Whoa ... I got old ...

  • @sinnamonz

when i`m old i can`t look back at cool rock music...

  • great song..a true classic!
