Yeah I have the BTL 18 on a Rockford 4000. And it gets hot also,(minus the fact it has 1200 watts RMS more than rated) But when you added the second battery the FI started to run cooler?

@jhsuperfast i hear ya man. Before i had that second battery it was getting pretty hot, but now its staying at a safe temp. And i mostly ride with my windows down so that helps a bit. I'm also thinking about mounting it on the box but that probably wouldn't help anything because it will just be constantly vibrating. then again i could add rubber spacers in between the amp and the box. we'll see, thnx for commenting.

@littlematt2007 if you do mount to box use the spacers like you were thinking....but really try to avoid mounting to the box...like you said the constant vibration put unnessary stress on internal componets.....they get enough stress just from doing what there ment to do...just my 2 cents....Peace

I ran the 0awg from the battery under my hood to the battery in the back, then just ran 4ga to my d-block, and grounded the battery to one of my seat bolts, and i should have run the ground to the chassis, but oh well.

Both batteries have to be grounded, doesn't matter where they are grounded. I was just saying that the chassis is the best place. And the ground on the battery (under the hood) should already be grounded to the chassis.
