carsales is probably the worst place to buy a cheap car. I bought it from the relative of a friend. They thought it had engine damage but it turns our their mechanic didn't know what they were talking about. I have a better car that i'm trying to get $600 for but people keep offering me $300. That's where the market is for these cars. I can buy them for $300ea at the auctions any day of the week.
blownhemi i love what u do :-) im 14 and 1/2 gettign a vk to do up as a drag car atm pritty cheapish for now till i can get a decent job when im around 21 :-) but this is a great way to show ppl like me etc and i do know alot about cars so i mnot one of those Keyboared heros :-) but i love what u do :-)
The 4-litre Hemi is a good motor, I've got lots of experience with them, but to be perfectly honest the Ford 4-litre straight six is a better motor. For a start it has an overhead cam and a crossflow style head and it doesn't suffer the oil pump issues that plague the Hemi.
I've got a bunch of hemi engines in the shed but for this project I'm going to stick with the 4-litre.
@ObeliskVredesbyrd when he mentioned 210 hp had a giggle i is 7hp more then a standard 265 @ 203hp different set ups were available for the hemi up to the famous r/t 6 pack @302hp naturally aspirated and with out efi . the ford it a 4ltr motor honestly is 3.98 liter ( not a 3.9ltr from an ea there different) and the 265 is a 4.3 liter engine
The previous owners thought it had blown a head gasket (bad advice from mechanic) and started asking local wreckers how much they would pay for the car. Standard answer was $100, so my mate (it was his sister's car) said, "Hey, I know someone who will give you $100 for it."
It's not prefect. Lots of dints and scratches, dirty interior and missing knobs on the dash, but perfect for this project.
actually over there if u could find a civic cheap and rip the motor out of a new one somebody wrecked, strip it out, then u would have a 13 sec car easy
