  • Yeah! Kill them fish! Haha great vid!

  • jobs like these must pay alot if you're doing all that heavy lifting. an by the way for how long are you guys out there fishing?

  • nice vid I too live in alaska where is this at is it in bristol? and nice to see u guys doing it wthout the overdramtization of most shows.

  • @izak192 This was filmed on Kodiak

  • im eating a salmon sandwich

  • mostly pinks eh?

  • OMG thats A LOT of salmon dying :( 2:57

  • If you are against commercial fishing then don't eat sushi or any kind of sea food.

  • FISHIES lol

  • i had salmon today and i really dont give a fuck were it came from i was hungry !

  • A tremendous amount of ignorance and naivete in the environmental cause. Guess one could always eat tofu if one were not primarily interested in preaching and screaching.

  • @Harmonytoo2 Yes tofu is great but tofu and salmon is the best

  • nice job guys

  • Shiiit boyysss....leave a few for the future

  • Looking for crew? I need a spot on a boat this summer. Im no slouch, just a hard working guy who wants to ski all next winter.

  • add me to youre friends list

  • @kuruki213

And to all of you others complaining or sad facing...

Yes, commercial fishing is destroying many ecosystems, but NOT in Alaska. Alaskan fisheries are generally the most well-managed in the world, and the fishing is done in an entirely SUSTAINABLE way. Species are not going extinct, and other environmental impacts are low. The one exception would be draggers, and most fishermen don't support dragging. Do some more research before you complain.

  • @kuruki213 Tell them we were hungry.

  • @kuruki213 my friend.. you deserve an oscar for your speech

  • @kuruki213 --- To kuruki213. The Alaskan commercial salmon fisheries may possibly be the most carefully managed and environmentally sensitive fisheries in the entire world. ---- I admire your concern about the environment. But you need to get your facts and understanding right. ---- Maybe concentrate your efforts on criticizing some of the farmed salmon operations throughout the world, which are a much better support for your case than the Alaskan fisheries.

  • @kuruki213

we will say dam that fish tasted good.... buahahahaha

  • @kuruki213 you idiot...

  • :(

  • there ya go, clear out that ocean of all its fish. Don't bitch when you have no job when there are no fish left.

  • how much did the crew make not asking a in a bad way about money but im wanting to get in to this and wondering if i was to pull something like this in how much would i make as a deckhand

  • two words buddy!!!!! freakin awesome!!!!

  • hey i was wondering if you could give me some info on fishing on bristol bay cause i am working on a bristol bay boat as a deckhand so if you dont mind that would be greatly appreciated

  • @pkam150

I actually don't know much about Briston Bay, as I don't work there. I think it's small boats and hundreds of them and it's chaotic.

  • @pkam150 only fags do this job

  • go danny goooooooooooooooooooo

  • thats weather for fishing and loading :))))

  • yep, one of those days you work all season for!

  • Slick operation! Looks like fun!

  • nice! was this around kodiak?

  • yep, all of its from around the island

  • pussys waters too calm, real men fish in 40 foot sweels and 38 knot winds and haul water all day

  • haha yeah and all fuckin night

  • @originalanthraxtony Shut the fucking up.. Ya its been 6 months since you posted that but Where the fuckin are at doing this in 40 ft swells.. You dont even get that in Sand point, Kodiak, or southeast. And if you do nobody fishes in that wheather

  • good team work there boys,,hydro man is smooth!

  • nice. what boat? and europe guy, don't bother. we don't hire people from europe

  • It's the New Song. Do you know it?

  • That was one hell of a haul.

  • hahahah "xxxdarkstar" wtf men. you have to stand on them. there is no way for you to walk around that deck. plus the majoritiy of time people don't eat the skin! so what! and steveoscaro is right they do sofocate when you put them in the container

  • NICE!!!!!!!

  • hahahaa my dad is so weird. but that looks awesome.

  • im from europe guyz :) how can i get hired in alaska?

  • do yall smoke green when your out there?

  • dumb ass!

  • ya dats some good werk der boys. Brings back de memories it does: jelliefish rash on me scrotum and three hours rest a night.

  • "letting them suffocate on the deck" ???

They suffocate or freeze to death within minutes in the fish hold anyways. It doesn't make a difference. When you're catching 4,000 fish at once it's a little difficult to give individual care to each fish. And Alaska's salmon population is one of the most stable and healthy in the world. Yes there are many problem with overproduction in fisheries, but this is not a case of that you genius.

  • Maybe theres no Salmon left wherever YOURE at-which is the FAULT of the fisheries management of YOUR country. Alaskas salmon stocks are STRONG!

  • I really want to go Alaska and work as a fisherman on a boat. I hear commercial salmon fishing is the way to start out. Any advice on where would be the places to go, who to talk to, or what time of year to show up. Are jobs on salmon boats easy to come by?. Great video.

  • Kodiak has the largest salmon fleet. Show up in mid may and walk the docks every day looking for work and you might just find a job. Nothing is guaranteed of course, but it works out for lots of guys... just be persisetent.

  • This was uhhh... Kaluda Bay (my personal favorite bay on the island). I just talked to Danny last night actually and it sounds like the entire old crew is coming back. You not going back to the Kulshan? I can't wait to get back up there :)

  • Kiluda bay your personal favourite? God, I have nothing but pain and misery stories from Kiluda, but we made money there. About the Kulshan-Almost a total turn-over on the crew. Chris is going to the Lynx, I am headed out on the Beverlee J, and Paul is going to be the only one who is going to stick. This makes sense, as Roddy is his uncle. I like Roddy, and respect him greatly, but I want to fish another way. I can't wait to murder humpies again!!!!

  • Danny runs a great show-I was on the Beverlee J (Heavy Beavy style!), and we killed too! Where were you with this one? I was going to give you shit and say that Danny was right, but you most likely saw the f--kshow that was us trying to roll bags. Last year I was on the Kulshan with Roddy-great crew, not such a good season. Danny all crewed up for this year?

  • Sweet! I was on the Alaska Girl that season. I was the one Danny laughed at because of the flower shorts.

We didn't see so much of the New Song last summer. Hope yours went as well as ours did.

  • oh nice haha. Yeah your skipper seemed like a good guy. And yep, last season was really good again. I'm not sure how it worked out, but it did.

  • that's a lot of damn coho when you are used to catching them with a rod & reel. (at least they look to be silvers)

  • Pinks, actually!

  • Can you make a living in Alaska by fishing?

I just got out of the army and am going to school. I can't stand Michigan anymore. I'm so bored.

  • Haha I like Danny's opening critique. Is Tom still on the New Song? I was on the f/v Karen Kay for 3 years. Enjoy the fishing!

  • Pretty slow. Good set nonetheless.

  • is that side rail really that low?

  • 10k is big, but its not "huge" :)

Not familiar with this boat, where do you fish?

  • you're right, it's not huge to other fishermen, but at least to the average person it probably seems huge. The boat fishes around Kodiak and occasionaly Katmai.

  • what kind of money can you make doing this?

  • a deckhand on a boat of this size can make anywhere from $5000 to $25000 in three months of fishing. just all depepnds on how it goes.

  • Is that dificult to find a job as a Deckhand??

I'm from Ottawa, canada. I want to get there this summer

  • well it's not easy, but it's definitely possible to just show up and get a job. go early in like mid may and if you're persistent enough it's def possible

  • Shows you how long it's been since I was there. No idea who Kavik is and salmon prices were in the toilet when I was around. What are they like these days.

  • Kavik is his dog :)

Prices... Pinks were $.20 Reds were $.90

Chum $.40 Silvers I think were about $.60 and kings were $1.50 dressed

  • I worked on this boat in 2001. If you have more vids you should post them. How's Dany doing these days?

  • Wow small world, eh? I've got some more videos somewhere that I'll put up soon. Danny's doing well, along with Isa and Karina. And Kavik. Last year was a really good year for him.
