Nobody wants to talk about it, but what happened to the huge lead the Arab / Muslim world had over the European / Christian world? The West eventually advanced to heights not reached by the Mid-East societies. It wasn't stupidity, nor a sound engineering basis. Advancements were made at the time described by faithful Muslims, so the problem wasn't religious. Was it political? Did governments arise which stifled advancement?

When progress was threatened, the West became quite secular. ???
