Never heard of an isolator switch causing a hot start, introducing fuel too fast is your problem. Try reading your checklist next time you start turbine...
I don't know about the Lancair, but with the the -135's on my Cheyenne the igniters don't fire unless I've got the condition lever forward. Isolator switch my guess is just for the igniters to prevent them from firing before the lever is forward, the introduction of fuel is probably more of a mechanical process. My guess is they had the condition lever forward before start. I didn't see any motion of moving it forward, but its hard to say.
i think the guy in the left seat threw the fuel in way too soon because the right seater wasnt watching the condition lever position only the ITT....gotta wait till 12% and the instructor never said that....man that ITT gauge moved FAST!!!
I'm not familiar with turbines, there is a throttle and a conditioner. If the throttle fails, you can hit the isolator and use the conditioner as a makeshift throttle. Well the isolator was on, so we started the turbine way too rich causing the temprature to spike.
lol that must have been SO embarrassing for blue shirt guy

Thats certainly part of it. The isolator switch was the main culprit.

Did anyone else find that interesting?

"That was interesting?!" Ooops! I just messed up the engine!!! This aircraft is grounded until further notice.

to me seen that N1 was too low what they've put on the fuel. but may be i'm wrong.
amicizia123 2 years ago
Thats what I would say happened. I dont think it was even close to 12% N1 when fuel was introduced.

Let N1 stabilize before moving the condition lever forward?

yes that was interesting

Would You please explain the scenery? Torquemeter run too high while N1 had been in the green?
