It wouldn't let me fit all this into one comment. I wanted to just mention how much I enjoyed your analysis of Aquatic Ruin. As a kid, I was very afraid of the water, so I made sure to master the high ground routes as quickly as I could. Only now do I realize that I've been missing out on a really nice chunk of the game by avoiding the water all these years. I also didn't know about that platform that becomes a ramp, and I like how you avoided the flies at 13:30.
Brilliant commentary, sir. I have been playing this game for years myself, so I am very surprised by how much I learned from your playthrough. Also, I always accepted the backgrounds as part of the level. It never occurred to me that they might be a preview of a later level. I'll have to pay more attention to that next time I play through it.
P.S. The bird from the cartoon's name is Scratch.
P.P.S. Let me know if you ever need help with those special stages ;-)
