there is chibi in this, u juz hav to use gear third during your gear 2nd mode. when ure in gear second mode, press the buttons that activated gear 2nd again. then luffy will do gear 3rd

Rob Lucci's claims may be mere speculation, and Luffy's statement was merely him saying, he doesn't know and doesn't care as long as it's used for protecting. Also, due to the fact that gear second are part of his devil fruit ability (although not a direct result), it may not have an affect on his lifespan, or his life span may only be shortened temporarily (much like he only stays in chibi form for a short period of time), and slowly returns to normal after coming out of gear second.
@miniwes13 remember that your 2 and 3 reasons are based on normal people and with luffys rubber body he cant be judged like regular people. That being said it is unlikely he will hit 50.

Yeah, they edited it out, but it gave the effect of smoke always pouring out of his mouth, which, except for the 4kids part, i thought was pretty damn cool, plus, it matched his fruit type

it certainly is not haki, notice how rayleigh, shanks and kuja pirates have haki but theyre not in gear 2nd, only luffy can use gear 2nd because of his devil fruit power
They made it to the new world where the treasure is suppsoed to be but the crew gets defeated and scattered across the earth,Luffy is trying to save his brother ace from being executed and he went to the execution and now theres an all out war, He probably would have found it but he keeps getting intterupted by pirates who are looking for the treasure as well

I haven't watched One Piece ever since FUNimation took it away from 4Kids, but I watched some of the episodes of FUNimation's dub where they was on the cloud, and it just got TOO complicated for me and not so fun to watch anymore..... o_o"
you do realize Funimation actually saved One Piece? 4kids edited it so much, if its really too complicated watch it again, trust me 4kids One Piece is for little kids no joke, they made it for little kids, thats why Funimation took over, to put it back to normal

Yeah I know their intentions was to make it for kids. So please forgive me that I started watching it when I didn't have a laptop, and didn't know ANYTHING about "Japanese dubs/fan-subs". Now that I know about all of this stuff, I WISH 4Kids would make One Piece UNCUT, with their soundtracks and voice actors, since I'm kinda use to it. :P
But that wouldn't truly be uncut since they wouldn't use the original orchestrated score. 4Kids wouldn't want to sell uncut One Piece anyways. And Toei took away One Piece from 4Kids in 2006 since 4Kids never made any real money with the license. With Funimation, Toei is actually pulling in a profit with the uncut DVDs. Don't let new voices and orchestrated music keep you from buying the uncut Funimation DVDs, they're actually very good and preserve the integrity and emotion of the series.
They go to the Grand Line in Chapter 100 of the manga, and Episode 61 I believe of the anime. The Grand Line is large and the treasure One Piece is supposedly on Raftel, an island all the way at the end of the Grand Line. The last half of the Grand Line is called the New World and is even more chaotic than the first half, which the Strawhats have already conquered. They haven't found One Piece yet (if they did, that would mean the series is over, which it isn't....)

What exactly confuses you about the series? I can explain other things for you if you want. There's not much to it other than simply watching the episodes chronologically and/or reading the manga. I used to be far away from the series too a month or so ago, but I caught up by watching the anime and reading the manga.

Not all the Japanese voices are as godly as you're implying...Some people enjoy hearing characters speak in their native language without having to read what they're stating.
Its rather lame to watch anything in any other language but the one it was created and ment to be seen/heard in. It only takes a micro second to read a few subtitles, unless of course you suck at reading. Not to mention the english dub of one piece was one of the worst.
Not when it's properly adapted. And wow, three thumbs down for a rational comment. Some people need to grow up (not talking about you specifically). And the 4Kids dub was very bad, I agree with you there, but the Funimation dub is/was very successful. It's kinda silly when people act as though they're the best VAs on the planet. I love the Japan cast, but they're not perfect. Neither is the English cast. People always praising subs are just as annoying as people doing the same with dubs.
I suppose i was kinda harsh, I guess im just an anime purest. I just havent seen many decent dubsm Cowboy bebops english cast was great, and FLCL's wasnt too bad either, Its just one piece is my fav anime and i can;t stand all the changes made. I just feel the jap voices give the proper emotion and when translated to english it seems to lack that .
I was probably a bit over the top too, sorry. But the edits in the 4Kids dub that had to be kept in the Funi TV dub was actually the fault of Cartoon Network and Toei Animation. If Funimation wanted OP to be changed the way it was in TV, they'd have kept it that way for the DVDs, but they didn't, they left it uncut. It's not Funi's fault Sanji lost his cigarrette, or Smoker became Chaser. Some seem to forget that.

Not all the time. In the anime Luffy can hold gear second for about 10 minutes, more or less. I'm just saying that it doesn't fit the game to have him be in gear second 10 seconds.

Dreams, not beliefs. His beliefs are shaped by his conscience and what he thinks is right. He believes that fighting can be fun. He believes that people should protect their friends and go after their dreams. Luffy believes that no one will stop him from being Pirate King. But he has never attack anyone based on beliefs alone. He has attacked people who has hurt his friends or has tried to stop his dream.

The entire thing is that Luffy can't get to Raftel without getting stronger which will result in fighting people.Avoiding people is not an option, it can be, but if he plans on making it too the END of the GL then that's not a thought.
You counted the comments? cool. I know. He has to get stronger. And he will. But I'm saying Luffy could avoid fights if he wanted to. He doesn't have to fight everyone to get stronger. He could just train like Zoro. Look at Smoker. Luffy keeps on running from the guy even though he should fight him (because if he can't beat Smoker, he can't beat guys like Shanks or Whitebeard).
Well, I think it really depends of their abilities. I mean.... it's Smoker's logia which makes him so hard to beat. He really doesn't seem to have any clear weaknesses except of course seastone. Even if Luffy couldn't beat Smoker it doesn't meant that he can't' beat some of the future villains.
its horrible to read comments like "he only cares about getting stronger and better" when refering to one piece. one piece may be inspired by toriyamas work in odas words but that doesnt incline the amazing story entwining throughout the plot.

Technically speaking, the only reason Luffy wants to get stronger is to make his dream come true and to protect his friends. The story's nice, I guess. But the fights are really cool. And it's funny sometimes too.
speaking in the manga context, luffy never mentions that he wants to become stronger or something. the fact he gets stronger (not always: have a look at bellamy) due to his dream to become pirate kings does not incline him wanting to become stronger i guess.
and yeah, the fights are real fun and cool but thats definitly not the point of one piece.

he doesnt mention anything about "i want to become stronger" or "i do not want to become stronger" - the idea of him getting stronger is suitable due to his fights and stuff but his dream is to become the pirate king and not to become the strongest. maybe being pirate king does incline being the strongest but this is never explicit said in the manga so far.
But why does he want to be Pirate King? Doesn't Pirate King mean that he's the strongest? So Luffy doesn't have to be the strongest to be Pirate King? It's implied. It doesn't have to be said.

in fact, im concentrating on the manga itself because the anime is made naive with close intentions to dragon ball z of the past. for me the manga is the only "true" way of "consuming" one piece. you for sure pick your own aspects out of the show for example the fights! for me its the stroy you know?

Well the only way to GET to Raftel Island is to travel on each island of the GL and survive for a certain period of time until your compass points to the next direction. And the seas are perilous and only get more gruesome so obviously you can't just SKIP fights and go STRAIGHT to Raftel.
Because you will find ppl that are contrary to your beliefs and want to prevent you from carrying out your dreams so you must fight for what you want and believe.

Everything you have said sounds like opinion. And opinions can be wrong. Unless there is actual proof from Oda saying that Luffy will beat up people for not believing in what he believes in, I'm going to believe that Luffy will only fight for innocent people, his friends, and his dreams. Watching the anime is good enough for me. It's fun to watch and it's pretty close to the manga.

Luffy's been in them because his beliefs contested that of someone elses and/or he made a promise to a friend but the foundation of the promise was BASED on his beliefs.

Luffy will die when when he's like 30 because:
1. Gear second shortens his life as Rob Lucci said.
2. He gets poisoned and has the antidote which shortens life.
3.He takes that adrenaline stuff from that big headed queer about 2-3 times which shortens his life.

They made it to the new world where the treasure is suppsoed to be but the crew gets defeated and scattered across the earth,Luffy is trying to save his brother ace from being executed and he went to the execution and now theres an all out war, He probably would have found it but he keeps getting intterupted by pirates who are looking for the treasure as well

I haven't watched One Piece ever since FUNimation took it away from 4Kids, but I watched some of the episodes of FUNimation's dub where they was on the cloud, and it just got TOO complicated for me and not so fun to watch anymore..... o_o"

Yeah I know their intentions was to make it for kids. So please forgive me that I started watching it when I didn't have a laptop, and didn't know ANYTHING about "Japanese dubs/fan-subs". Now that I know about all of this stuff, I WISH 4Kids would make One Piece UNCUT, with their soundtracks and voice actors, since I'm kinda use to it. :P

But that wouldn't truly be uncut since they wouldn't use the original orchestrated score. 4Kids wouldn't want to sell uncut One Piece anyways. And Toei took away One Piece from 4Kids in 2006 since 4Kids never made any real money with the license. With Funimation, Toei is actually pulling in a profit with the uncut DVDs. Don't let new voices and orchestrated music keep you from buying the uncut Funimation DVDs, they're actually very good and preserve the integrity and emotion of the series.

They go to the Grand Line in Chapter 100 of the manga, and Episode 61 I believe of the anime. The Grand Line is large and the treasure One Piece is supposedly on Raftel, an island all the way at the end of the Grand Line. The last half of the Grand Line is called the New World and is even more chaotic than the first half, which the Strawhats have already conquered. They haven't found One Piece yet (if they did, that would mean the series is over, which it isn't....)

What exactly confuses you about the series? I can explain other things for you if you want. There's not much to it other than simply watching the episodes chronologically and/or reading the manga. I used to be far away from the series too a month or so ago, but I caught up by watching the anime and reading the manga.

Its rather lame to watch anything in any other language but the one it was created and ment to be seen/heard in. It only takes a micro second to read a few subtitles, unless of course you suck at reading. Not to mention the english dub of one piece was one of the worst.

Not when it's properly adapted. And wow, three thumbs down for a rational comment. Some people need to grow up (not talking about you specifically). And the 4Kids dub was very bad, I agree with you there, but the Funimation dub is/was very successful. It's kinda silly when people act as though they're the best VAs on the planet. I love the Japan cast, but they're not perfect. Neither is the English cast. People always praising subs are just as annoying as people doing the same with dubs.

I was probably a bit over the top too, sorry. But the edits in the 4Kids dub that had to be kept in the Funi TV dub was actually the fault of Cartoon Network and Toei Animation. If Funimation wanted OP to be changed the way it was in TV, they'd have kept it that way for the DVDs, but they didn't, they left it uncut. It's not Funi's fault Sanji lost his cigarrette, or Smoker became Chaser. Some seem to forget that.

Not all the time. In the anime Luffy can hold gear second for about 10 minutes, more or less. I'm just saying that it doesn't fit the game to have him be in gear second 10 seconds.

Dreams, not beliefs. His beliefs are shaped by his conscience and what he thinks is right. He believes that fighting can be fun. He believes that people should protect their friends and go after their dreams. Luffy believes that no one will stop him from being Pirate King. But he has never attack anyone based on beliefs alone. He has attacked people who has hurt his friends or has tried to stop his dream.

He could just train like Zoro. Look at Smoker. Luffy keeps on running from the guy even though he should fight him (because if he can't beat Smoker, he can't beat guys like Shanks or Whitebeard).

Well, I think it really depends of their abilities. I mean.... it's Smoker's logia which makes him so hard to beat. He really doesn't seem to have any clear weaknesses except of course seastone. Even if Luffy couldn't beat Smoker it doesn't meant that he can't' beat some of the future villains.

speaking in the manga context, luffy never mentions that he wants to become stronger or something. the fact he gets stronger (not always: have a look at bellamy) due to his dream to become pirate kings does not incline him wanting to become stronger i guess.

he doesnt mention anything about "i want to become stronger" or "i do not want to become stronger" - the idea of him getting stronger is suitable due to his fights and stuff but his dream is to become the pirate king and not to become the strongest. maybe being pirate king does incline being the strongest but this is never explicit said in the manga so far.

Well the only way to GET to Raftel Island is to travel on each island of the GL and survive for a certain period of time until your compass points to the next direction. And the seas are perilous and only get more gruesome so obviously you can't just SKIP fights and go STRAIGHT to Raftel.
Because you will find ppl that are contrary to your beliefs and want to prevent you from carrying out your dreams so you must fight for what you want and believe.

Besides, if Lucci really wanted to stop evil, he would have gone after guys like Crocodile. The reason is that he just cares about killing people, whether they are innocent or guilty. He fought Luffy, who isn't evil. Remember when he was a kid? He killed all those hostages. 500 people. AND HE WAS SUPPOSED TO SAVE THEM!!. How is that stopping evil? Not every person. Watching the anime is good enough for me. It's fun to watch and it's pretty close to the manga.

IF Luffy plans on becoming his def of a PK then he must be strong enough to defeat anyone who tests and challenges his beliefs.That's the only way he can keep his freedom, not avoiding those stronger than him.
Now I agree that that doesn't cause for you to FIGHT EVERY person that's strong...but anyone who opposes what you believe, you will clash and you will defend yourself(Crocodile, Eneru, Lucci)

Again, Luffy would die because he would have been killed by Eneru? OKAY!!! Luffy being killed by ordinary people? I don't think so. Luffy kicked Lucci's ass to save Robin, right? If you want to believe Luffy was destined to come to these places, fine. But there's no real way to know Luffy's "destiny". All I know is that wherever Luffy goes, he always beats up some dumb bad guy. I hope Luffy can make it to Raftel. But I don't know if he can.

I'm saying think about it,No he wouldn't have been killed by Eneru's attack,he would have survived his blast because Luffy is rubber and wouldn't be affected by it.BUT the fact that the attack would have demolished and destroyed Sky Island, Luffy would have fell to the sea and therefore would have died...the SH's have to stay on Sky island till the log post is set so even if SI was destroyed and they survived with their ship.They'd be unable to travel anywhere becuz the log post didn't have

The fall alone would probably kill Luffy. So, he saved his own life when he took down Eneru. You really think Luffy cared about that? He took down Eneru to save his friends, not to save his own life. That was a bonus. How could the Strawhats stay in the sky if Sky Island was destroyed?

The only reason is because just like you said Robin "...was framed by the WG & will be always marked for death." Lucci ASSUMED she was evil based on the information that he was TOLD by the WG. So therefore it doesn't make HIM evil, he just has a misunderstanding of what evil is,so if he attempts to kill Robin(a good hearted and pure woman) it makes him LOOK like the bad guy. That's just like saying when you first seen Robin as Miss.Sunday, you would have never thought that she would actually be

Forget about Robin. He actually said to Luffy that the only reason he joined the World Government was to have a legal reason to kill people. He doesn't care about justice. Smoker and Aokiji are good guy, even though they are chasing the Straw hats. They don't kill innocent people. I'm not talking about the criminals they are chasing. I'm talking about the people who get in their way. Lucci would kill anyone while Smoker and Aokiji would kill bad people.

Yeah, Luffy didn't like that Eneru was killing innocent people for no good reason. So, he fought him and took him down. Eneru fought Luffy because Luffy wanted to take his kingdom away from him.

I'm saying Luffy 's MAIN reason wasn't to be able to save his friends. Yes that may be a minor reason but not the main reason. Chap 281 pg 10. "Just because you THINK you are God, you will take everything away from them?" Luffy's biggest reason AT FIRST 4 kicking Eneru's ass was based on the response Eneru's response to the question.
But Luffy's main reason LATER for kicking Eneru's ass was becuz they had the same target. Eneru wanted to take away the Gold Bell and Luffy wanted it to ring*Chap

Saving his friends is minor? That just shows that Luffy doesn't like it when innocent people get hurt. If Luffy only kicked Eneru's ass just to get a bell, he would have just gotten the bell. No, Luffy kicked Eneru's ass because Eneru is a despot who likes hurting people.

In order to survive and get to the next level which will lead to Raftel...there will always be side events that can POSSIBLY lead to his destruction as well, "the Alabasta bomb,Advent of Thunder,Rioters of Water 7,Aqua Laguna, Marines at Enies lobby, and Buster Call."
He needs to be STRONG enough to survive all these events so he can reach Raftel, SO all of the things I have been rooting back to the original comment you made about Luffy avoiding fights and still being able to make it to Raftel.

And I said that eventually Luffy will have to fight if he wants to go to Raftel. I also said that he can't avoid fights forever. But you're right about the "side events". If he couldn't survive those things, he could never make it to Raftel.

Luffy's been in them because his beliefs contested that of someone elses and/or he made a promise to a friend but the foundation of the promise was BASED on his beliefs.
Ex:) After hearing all the bad things Luffy had planned,done and was going to do, Luffy PROMISED to kick his ass. All of it was based off of the sheer fact that Luffy BELIEVED that no man could bring the country to it's knees and should try to shatter the dreams of others.
