The fight vs the Agent Smith army in Reloaded was my favorite in the Matrix series. It approached fighting with a sandbox sort of feel, very active, creative and dynamic. Great music, too. The fight in this video was better than I remembered, but I would say it's too high on the list. Few of the moves really stand out, and since it's just a training fight, it comparatively lacks feeling or passion (not its fault - the more plot-relevant scenes in the Matrix films do better with this).
Too many contemporary fight sequences are done with strings, green screen, pulleys, and film "cuts" where pieces of the film are literally removed to add the appearance of speed to a fight scene.
Drives me nuts. Jackie Chan's run in the 90's was about the last of the good stuff.
These are not the best scenes ever. Legend of Drunken Master, yes. The whole movie should make a top 10 list. What about the weapons fight in 7 Grandmasters? Way better than Kung Fu Hustle or Snake in Eagle's Shadow.
i have to say some of the fight scenes shouldnt be here there are a load more better ones out there, i would love to know where are people like bruce lee, chow yun fat, andy lau, donnie yen even sammo hung where are those guys in this top ten?
if we're talking about coreographed fight scenes with weapons, then the best ever made is Obi-Wan vs Anakin in the revenge of the sith. but the matrix shouldn't be here. i haven't seen that many donnie yen movies, but i know he has some amazing fight scenes, none of them are here, and there is no bruce lee here, even though the coreography back then was a lot slower. what about the jackie chan vs benny the jet in meals on wheels?
My opinion is part 1 of your top 10 was on track but part 2 just went down hill when you've added The Matrix and didn't add any Wong Fei Hung, Bruce Lee, Donnie Yen, especially the fight scenes with Jackie Chan and Benny there was another fight scene with them which is one of the top 3 on my list. Advice : Watch more variety and don't just stick to media base hypes.
i was waiting for crouching tiger hidden dragon, i remember going to see that in theaters with my brother when i was like 5, he had to read all the subtitles because they were to fast for me at the time hahaha, best kung fu movie imo!!

Everyone hating on the Matrix, just remember how long they trained to do this scene and that the both of them probably never did any fight scene this extensive before. They are just Hollywood actors, give them some credit. I have seen alot worse.

I agree with those who say the Matrix fight doesn't even rank in the same class as some of these great Hong Kong classics. The matrix is only noteworthy becuz it's the first time MAINSTREAM audiences saw American actors doing Hong Kong choreo. Not knowing that "straight-to-video action stars like Gary Daniels, Chuck Jefferies, Cynthia Rothrock, were doing this stuff back in the early 90's. The matrix is one of those rare action films where the creators had a great movie idea and then built all the action elements around that idea. Bruce Lee movies are just fighting scenes with movie elements wrapped around.

The yelling and screams when fighting is part of real martial arts however bruce lee does it way more than you would in real life. One fight in paticular that should be on this list is jackie chan's fight with bradley james allan in the movie gorgeous. In that fight he actually jumps in the air and kicks 4 times compared to matrix where they need strings for more than 2.

Michelle Yeoh vs Zhang Ziyi is the best fight scene with two female combatants I've ever seen. I'll never forget watching that in the theater. Freaking brilliant.

Much as I like to disagree with Jreckhah1, he's correct: Croucher Tiger's two women had the best fighting scene. The choreography's so well done, that 1 minute seemed to last much longer, because every second we feel like the one or the other could be chopped into pieces, literally. Reeves & Fishburn? that's just jumping around, in stiff legs, using 99.8% CGI; even hours of choreography can't really do much for them.
No IP Man? Bruce Lee? Ong Bak? Scorpion vs Johnny Cage? That wasn't even the best fight scene in the Matrix. Good, but WEAK. Maybe you need a part 3 grasshopper.
Sorry to break it to you. But your list lost all credibility when you put The Matrix at #3. No fight scene from Matrix deserves to be anywhere of the top 10 on anyone's list.

Who am I ( JC vs hitmen), Jet Li vs. Billy chau , And the drunken master fight scene which you put at number 1. What about Ong Bak? Tony Jaa's fight vs the Capoeira guy ? Wow, #4 is tough to watch with all the limb-breaking. At times, I felt myself hoping for the next mook to get KO'd by just getting kicked in the chest and not by having his arm/leg mangled.
There are way to many fight scenes that could have made the list that werent even on here. It would be nearly impossible to make a real best scenes. To many different opinions. But of all jackie Chan scenes, one of my all time favorites was round 2 of Jackie and BJ Allen in "Gorgeous".

Michelle Yeoh vs Zhang Ziyi is the best fight scene with two female combatants I've ever seen. I'll never forget watching that in the theater. Freaking brilliant.

Crouching Tiger had the best scenes by far.
But no Donnie Yen vs. 10 black belts?
That was sadly the first Kung Fu movie fight I had seen and it just stuck in my head.

Much as I like to disagree with Jreckhah1, he's correct: Croucher Tiger's two women had the best fighting scene. The choreography's so well done, that 1 minute seemed to last much longer, because every second we feel like the one or the other could be chopped into pieces, literally. Reeves & Fishburn? that's just jumping around, in stiff legs, using 99.8% CGI; even hours of choreography can't really do much for them.

But with this top 10, it is obvious that this guy hasn't. Either way I shouldn't hold that against him, because your right, it is a matter of opinion. But you can't blame others for getting upset either.

@tag1981 You're right, however I still think that because it's a matter of pure opinion, there's not much point in telling him he has no credibility. If it were something that was factually based (cinematography, choreography, etc.) then he can lose credibility. But it's not. He just said "best", so that means his personal favorite. That's how I see it.

The wires are what turn a usually boring movie into something thats somewhat entertaining to watch. Not everyone can be like jackie chan and go wireless :)

Sorry, but in all honesty .. only 3 of your scenes deserve to be in a top 10 fight scenes list. Who am I ( JC vs hitmen), Jet Li vs. Billy chau , And the drunken master fight scene which you put at number 1. What about Ong Bak? Tony Jaa's fight vs the Capoeira guy ? Bruce Lee's back alley fight and the fight against Karim Abdul Jabbaar? Fights with computer effects have no room for a top 10 list. all should be pure martial arts and action. Like Jet Li vs. The twins in kiss of the Dragon.

There are way to many fight scenes that could have made the list that werent even on here. It would be nearly impossible to make a real best scenes. To many different opinions. But of all jackie Chan scenes, one of my all time favorites was round 2 of Jackie and BJ Allen in "Gorgeous".

Tony Jaa is turning into the next Steven Seagul...Ong Bak 2 was ust him fighting a bunch of guys, with very little to no reason. It LOOKED like a video game, it even had boss fights. All he's doing is showing off :P. Also, am I the only one seeing that Zhylgaia is a bit of a jackie chan fanboy? :P.
