I think the video told the story, now I was not there and I cannot say one way or the other if it is a true story or not, but this is just one way to show people if you do wrong or disobey the law you will be punished.

Yes true life is not a fair amount of time, but this did not happen in the USA, so I think they were using billy for an example to all others who live in the USA.

The author of "midnight express" is the same guy who wrote "not without my daughter". The is a documentary called "without my daughter" that shows the other side of the story.

This author appears to like to sereotype people by taking stories and embellishing and fabricating large parts of them just to make money. Interesting... when the film was first released in 1978, he said he was thrilled for the opportunity of telling the world what happened to him during the years in a turkish prison. I wonder what made him change his mind...

money. lots of money to change his stand. look at him. does this person sound stable? this film is not a surprise to me as i am from cyprus and know well of turkish mentality. the fim was filmed in malta not some greek island as someone suggests.

I dont understand where you are saying he changed his stand. Did you read the book? Quite different than the movie. He has said he always hated how the movie was so racist against Turks and that he never felt that way himself against Turkish people as a whole, but that the prison and a few of the guards were indeed as bad as the movie portrayed. I agree, I wouldnt bet on his stability, but he went through some bad things. The real escape was almost super-human.
