@ Anchors-Well the TDP vids couldn't have come from Contact, since that movie came out way after the tour. Killer Clowns..maybe, haven't seen it in years. Parents, hell yes.
I remember trying to get my mom to listen to this track as a 'see, it's ugly, but there's really beauty and emotion between the lines.' She didn't quite buy it, but I stand by this song as a perfect example of 'find the beautiful human behind every monster.'
Favorite SP album."Vivisect VI" is probably one of the all-time best Industrial albums ever. If SP were to have recorded "Worlock" and put that on "Vivisect VI", you would have an album that would be untouchable.
But yeah, drugs are bad kids. Nothing to glorify, if anything this song perfectly paints a picture of the psychological damage drugs can do to you if you get to involved with them.
you wouldn't happen to know who (if not the band members themselves) did these backing videos would you? I know he was the "visual" guy. these are great.
vivisectVI was their most creative album by far. After this things unfortunately started to go downhill. Best damn live shows though by far. My cousins friend played keyboards for them on one show in toronto in 1984-I wonder if the K's remember Farzan? ;-)
This is pure classic masterful industrial. The thing I loved about this album was that you really couldn't understand it or appreciate until many, many listen and then it just seeps into you and becomes beautiful.
The originators! Skinny Puppy Rulz! The ones everyone tried to copy and sound like but no one was will ever be successful. Every album different, each evolved or devolved from the previous. Wish they sounded like this today. cEvin Key was a genious a musical visionary. Saw them live on this tour in 88 in Toronto. They blew everyone away! Todays music is toilet water compared to this todays young generation are fucking retards.
i've never heard of any band the tried to copy or even remotely sound like skinny puppy...your ignorance is glaring by the fact that you posted "todays music is toilet water"...i guess you've never known a REAL musician or artist, and if hou have well i'll assume they keep you around as their friend for ornamental/ intramural game purposes.pffflt!
What? You've never heard of a band that trieds to copy Skinny Puppy and you're calling him ignorant? You have nerve. There's thousands of copycats. Literally thousands.
Don't call others ignorant when you are clearly so illinformed yourself.
Whether his logic is correct or not (there are indeed copycats, but less than literally 50 sound like Skinny Puppy), he's right about today's music. Full of shit, especially the mainstream. Only good stuff is underground, and that doesn't match any mainstream, moderate, or underground music of the 80s. I don't like yearning for the 60s, but 70s/80s/90s yearning is what we should all have.
"but less than literally 50 sound like Skinny Puppy
If you've listened to a lot of underground electronic, industrial or futurepop over the past 20 years, there are entire genres that essentially stem from SP as a root.
The only band whose videos perfectly fit their songs. This one is no exception. It literally does sound like the soundtrack to a massive LSD-induced head trip.
I really don't know what it is about this band.i understood at the very earliest stages that each album would be sonically different, layered, and an experience unto itself.
i don't like to admit it but i "brapped" each album with headphones first, to enjoy the first time totally immersed, and like all favourite bands, there was a song i hated, or at least disliked on each album. just ONE song. thats the hallmark of a great band right there
I want to say that The Mind: Perpetual Interecourse was their finest but VIVIiSectVI may be equally as good for the simple reason of it's crunchy sound. The entire album sounds so crunchy and destructive it's fun to listen to over and over.
ok.. I was impressed when I was 16... now I am even more. Skinny Puppy is and always will be the best, Ok Trent/Manson is really cool too, but this was WAY ahead of its time. This could come out today and still be edgy.
@Anchors these "backing films" were on the original video. They are all clips from different movies. I know some are from Contact, Killer Clowns from outer space, Parents, plus, there's a lot more I can't remember but it's just because I'm getting old! lol! Funny how something so cool and unknown is a RELIC now! Frigging life...all fast n stuff. Reply to thediablakitty@youtube as I am on my roomie's account at present. thanks.

AWESOME. The bloody kissing during the breakdown at 1:35 comes from the 1983 movie "The Hunger." It's a really great, creepy movie.
