We all know Peggy Fleming's Layback is the 24 carat GOLD STANDARD but Caryn's Layback is at least a 23 carat version. That difficult position is seldom seen in any era done in the classic way becuz it is so tough to get right. Caryn was the skater I rooted for in competitions of her era. She strove for the best lines and edges and jumps and sometimes like in this piece she hit them through-out. Thanks for posting this. I remember watching it live and cheering for it.

I think I read recently that she remarried.

That was a gorgeous performance. Alas, winning the biggest championships was not her legacy. However, I find that the most memorable skaters often don't have the biggest medal haul. There's much more to life than Olympic gold!!

Incredible performance! This was, without a doubt, the best performance of her professional career.

She should have won this event, those marks were terrible. She definitely should have at least been placed over Yuka Sato, her program was awful.

I liked her battle of the sexes on ice 2 performances better. I think they were also in 96. Maybe 97.
