This is very real. Operation Crossroads, Baker underwater shot at Bikini Atoll. They put pigs, rats, goats and whatnot on the decks of the test ships. The test contaminated everything and made the area uninhabitable. Realistically, it was the world's first nuclear disaster.

Well spotted. There are several versions of this, but all from more or less the same angle - probably different edits of the same film. (Note: If you're spending millions on testing, why do they have so few films of them?) The process seems to be to [1] have central explosion, [2] have a ring at ground level around the centre, [3] do editing work, painting on the film or some other method, to make something like a hemisphere - they may have used water purely to help the illusion.

It looks like a motion picture of an explosion was enlarged and superimposed over a still photograph. Also, the water moves too fast to be such a massive amount of water. It's a fake.

The black streak up the right side is the 500' battleship Arkansas held vertically in the air, before settling into the 300' deep water and then tumbling over; it is a major diving goal at Bikini today. The other ships either met it stern on or side on; you can see the latter heel over almost 90 degrees. Four boats sank, and 6 hrs later the A/C Lexington (off to the left) sank. All were heavily contaminated.

I suppose this was a test of a pure fission bomb, which do not have the same power as the ones with the Ulam-Teller design, and I imagine that's why it was not entirely effective. This test was 23 kt, twice the power of the Hiroshima device, but much less powerful than 1Mt, which is a typical yield for a fission-fusion bomb. Such a bomb would have obliterated these ships.
