  • @tomkes100douchebag You bet, my all-time favorite! I'll admit it is a bit soap operish, but I love the romance - "Maybe you don't, Mrs. Henry, but this cookie does!" and the court room drama - "You assumed!" Name me one recent movie that had the elements of romance and drama with no explicit sex or foul language like The Young Philadelphians does. PS. As far as the acting, two actors were up for academy awards...

  • Wow, it's quite rare that I see the woman advancing upon the man, who declares that he "wants more" than just a temporary physical relationship. Admirable of him, but hardly likely...at least, that's what Hollywood tells us these days. "All people want is sex", "all people are SUPPOSED to want is sex", "if people don't want sex, there's something wrong with them"....sense my agenda?

  • @lorrainewands At the end of the scene, he goes 'Phew', as in, he didn't want her, but used the ultimatum card to get her to back down first so he didn't have to insult her.

  • This movie contains what is probably Smith's finest film work, in only four scenes, As usual, in sexist, ageist Hollyood, she's playing an "older woman" to Newman, who was, in fact, less than four years younger than she.

  • I have no idea why. But, every time I see him smoke. I want a smoke..lmao. woowee the things you do to me :P:P

& HOLY EFF. THIS MOVIE IS ON TONIGHT RIGHT AFTER ON THE WATERFRONT

marlon brando & paul newman in 1 night :D heck yes

  • I have no idea why. But, every time I see him smoke. I want a smoke..lmao. woowee the things you do to me :P:P

  • Tony is a very smart boy! This is my all-time favorite movie. Smart, sexy, romantic, dramatic - they don't make them like this anymore.

  • @wjcwolk Your ALL-TIME favorite? Are you kidding??? No complaints about the acting, but there was really not much going on in this way too long meandering mess.

  • Great movie... great actors... great passion and a classic!!!

  • aw sod her, you can have me instead Paul!!!!!!

  • One of my favourite....PAUL IS DOING SOME PIMPING IN THIS SCENE! LOL

  • This man was simply too beautiful for words.....

  • I would bang the daylights out of Newman, no questions asked.

  • she looks like his granny! Take me instead!

  • The first time I saw Paul Newman was in this

film. I was 10 years old, and Oh my God!I may not have understood everything, but I knew I was in love! And I have been ever since. He was a beautiful man inside and out all of his life. Great actor, great humanitarian. We were all blessed to have him with us for eighty three years!

  • Amen. I can't remember a time when I didn't know who Paul Newman was. I think the reason why he aged so beautifully was that he was always the same gorgeous personality.

  • i just heard on the radio, we have lost our beloved Paul Newman, he died at his home last night from the lung cancer....

  • I believe if Paul Newman caught the beautiful and statuesque Alexis Smith ten years before this...he'd have torn off her nightgown. She was a looker. And so is Paul. Hmmmmmm!!

  • You know the saxaphone has been by far, the sexiest instrument for love scenes.Simply beautiful...

  • Wow!!! I wanna see the movie!!!

  • My God. The way he kisses. I love the way some films portray this we-love-each-other-but-we-can't-stay-together angst. Knowing they're walking away from each other in love and in pain is just heartbreaking.

  • @christentze I would want Newman to kiss me like that(if he were still here..and 50 years younger.)

  • @xHopelessScreamerx me, too. i would NOT be complaining at all. ; )

  • Note to Alexis Smith's character: Er, honey? You have a hot, young Paul Newman lying there, informing you that he wants both hot sex AND a long-term relationship with you. And you're turning him down? HELLO?!

;) thank you for posting this scene; wonderful!

  • You are SO right! What on earth was that woman thinking?

  • ahahah you are so right! some women have all the lucky and they go waway from that! I wish i was in her place! How did the movie end?I must watch it!

  • The Young Philadelphians included cinema's most underrated actors; Alexis Smith, Otto Kruger, Robert Vaughan, Barbara Rush and John Williams.

  • i LOVE HIM!!! ...sigh good movie btw :)

  • Very dramatic. Thanks. Bravo Alexis Smith.

  • **THUD**

Just a minute...while I pick myself up off the floor!

That man is a beautiful freak of nature!
