If the wolf isn't recognizably bringing to mind Jewish people, then there are no Jewish people. They're all white and exist in a white-only world (even though they're pigs and a wolf). A lot of people place their horse shoes the way resembling a U, because, as you have said, it supposedly holds luck.

Although an inverted U is believed to be unlucky, because it can't hold luck, there are some differing traditions and beliefs.

Some people have it as an inverted U for the reason that this supposedly pours luck onto people below, in the area, etc.
