Too bad if u don't like the answer. I object to sitting drinking with someone who then steals from me.
I am not a racist & object to being called one. If you actually read what I write I commented on the Colonial racism of the French in their little power trip of having the FFL march thru Tahiti every yr.
I've been all over the world, & if someone steals from u its quite normal to hurt them.
Obviously u think its acceptable to steal from people visiting your town.
Its true! One guy in particular tried to ruin our holiday coz I caught him trying to leave a bar in Aitutaki with a total gadget of a lighter of mine in his pocket...I just publicly humiliated him instead of giving him the beating he deserved!
He was one of the best dancers too. This was in '98.
I found it very shocking that there were something like 45 missionary groups on one tiny island too. I guess that's why the coconut bikini's exist!!! Shame...!
and???? i repeat AGGAIN what is the relationship with this video? too many words for so tiny bad action... too general, too much confusion just because you were CHAPARD. You generalize an entire people the bad actions of some, at home we call it racism. Love and peace (and most of all stay in your so safe country i know very well and where no theft is committed Never)... LOL
So what.. don't bring such 'luxurious lighters' then..
Learn that 'things' aren't so important & be more generous like the polynesian people, some who have much less money than you would be generous to you..
Don't be racist or think u'r superior & need to 'discipline' other grown men over a stupid thing like a lighter.. learn to be a bigger person.. publicly humiliating him was a low ac as wellt..
You wanna see the best dancers and singers of the South Pacific........look at the Cook Islanders.......no one can touch them........original and not so cleaned up and westernised..........funky, sexy, ethnic and full of soul and heart.........even though some of the men there are terrible petty thieves (lighters and gadgets!)........i've been to a lot of the islands and when it comes to the dancing and singing....its Cook Islands 101%
You are so right. Our language and culture is similar. Maybe its coz you guys speak french lol.
Mind you I'm Pukapukan (Cook Islands) lol. We're so different from other cookies our customs and language is different. Our language is kinda similar to samoan. Although some of our elders believe that our people came from tahiti. so yeah...
from this group some created "Les Grands Ballets de Tahtiti" like Teiki&Lorenzo, other like Sandrine Trompette created "Hei Tahiti" group, 2 of the most famous groups in TAHITI. But, O Tahiti E remain with dancers who choosen to stay with it.
you can't really by these belts ..they were specifically made from natural materials during the time of their performance! which was 11 years ago!

and?.....What is the relationship with this video? So many words for just a little gadget?
teriimataha 3 years ago
Well......if you really want me to go further on this I will.
I've travelled all over the world for many years.
The smaller and remote the island the wierder things get.
I dislike what missionaries have done, do and are doing.
The petty theft thing is quite normal in Polynesia....even Captain Cook mentioned it. Its a pain for visitors.
And what looks like paradise isn't neccessarily so underneath the surface.
Do the French Foreign Legion still do their annual Power March on Tahiti?
You did ask.

This is obviously your own opinion! Why do we have to be divisive instead of celebrating our culture?
lisiatew 3 years ago
thats funny, most of us cook islanders copy the tahitians
classickukie 2 years ago
i always consider Cook as part of the same family, closer than other pacific islanders.
So, I never understand why many cook islanders are so distant form us regarding french polynesia.
I don't think one copy the other because for me we are the same family with their own diifference like tahitian regarding Marquesas or Paumutu.
