@Babb26 They WERE nightmares! They literally resembled nightmare like course of action that made little sense.

Look at the plot of this movie (at least the second one)! They went in some cottage, played an audio tape and... all hell broke loose. The rest is just random trouble popping out from the floor with little to no explanation.
