  • Lisa es un angel...

  • Beautiful music from a different level of consciousness. Thakns for posting.

  • (forever in love with cocteau twins) ⁿ

  • can you get the lyrics on the interweb? What i loved most about cocteaus was making up my own shit. lyrics cus we didnt have a single iota what liz was going on about,it just sounded right

  • Am going to listen to this song 'til it's memorized.

  • So good! I can never decide whether this or Carolyn's Fingers is how heaven must sound like.

  • At precisely 3:13 , on this vid., Liz is laughing , and the cat feels soooooo good, being scratched under it's chin. That is how great Cocteau Twins makes me feel, x100.I had a cat that looked just like that,"Scratches", and I often say, he was my brother, he just happend to be a cat.Cocteau Twins music is Love ,in the form of sound.Absorb it whenever you listen. This is one of their strongest tunes, to me.Huge, epic and important ,bordering on religious.Listen, out in the World for max. effect.

  • lose the key changes. other than that stay hit.

  • What's it about?

  • Still the best female vocalist ever in my mind. And she is Scottish. Saw her years ago in the old Glasgow Pavilion. Loved the oncore, they just rewinded the drum machine and played the first 3 songs again. Fantastic stuff.

  • Still the best female vocalist ever in my mind. And she is Scottish. Saw her years ago in the old Glasgow Apollo. Loved the oncore, they just rewinded the drum machine and played the first 3 songs again. Fantastic stuff.

  • The best CT's track from ever!

  • I love them from their beginning. One of my all time favourite bands.

  • How did i end up here? I was only looking for some help in putting my new bookcase together;_))

  • their album "treasure" is one of the most beautiful albums ever made

  • Just scratch the surface of any ordinary thing, and god leaks through - and sounds like this

  • 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000%CRYSTAL

  • I know that Gd exists...she is singing to me right now.

  • who find beauty in this music is a special person and has a special sensibility

  • sublime. light and ephemeral.

  • HO AMATO COCTEAU TWINS...E CON COCTEAU TWINS. ...VICTORIALAND RIMANE TUTTORA nel mio cuore assieme a pochi altri..

  • The Twins are a band I've loved for almost 30 years, and this is one of their top ten most addictive and haunting recordings, no doubt about it.

  • @limberger66 Addictive is right! I've listened to this song now at least 10 times in a row.

  • Mock the 80's all you want...

  • I am still in love with her voice even after all these years...

  • first 12 inch i ever bought, I remember it being one of the loudest records ive ever owned. some fucker out there now has my copy

  • @Bradius123 I one that 12" of yours, I buy them when I see them, even if I already own it...

  • We used to have a short-lived band in the late 80's that we called Aikea Guinea, too funny ...

  • I first saw this on 'the tube' (UK TV Program) and was spellbound from that minute onward - Great dreamy vocals from Liz and sublime dreamy backing - I would reccomend 'Victorialand' for anyone who is not familiar with the Cocteaus!!!

  • @wuckle i saw exactly the same edition of the tube and remember taping this. blew me away.

  • "someday."

  • This is my favorite work by her. I want to say its her best work, but admittedly I have not heard all of it, so I can't say that just yet, but if there's an apex to this apex I'd be humbly shocked.

Her voice does a beautiful dance in this song. She ascends a staircase and then twirls on a pedastal all with beautiful grace.

  • This is their best song and this version of it here (on this webpage) is its best version. Thank you for sharing this version. I can't believe they don't have this version on their MySpace page. It's so wrong! The production is too polished in the other version. The music sounds too heavy for her vocals. In the version you hear here, it's perfect. The light touch production enables us to hear the beautiful vocals better.

  • spring flowers song

  • Great song!

  • Celestial

  • How good can music get? Not much better than this.

  • there's only one thing that frustrates me while i'm listen CT: i can't sing it

    : )

  • creepycraig73 so funny!!

  • Dear Joanna Newsom,

This is why you are bollocks.

    Please stop your hipster garbage,

    cc73

  • Creative perfection...

  • liz fraser. she'll fucking eat you up spit you out and clean her teeth with your bones

  • This sounds much better with bass.

  • To the person that said there is plenty of good modern music around: I agree. Problem is you have to dig through huge piles of crap to get to the good stuff. Aren't you glad anyone with a computer can make music now?

  • When will people know that there are NO ACTUAL LYRICS in most of their songs that can't seem to be understood? It clearly says that they're doing mouth music. The lyrics that are found in the internet are just vocables (so you can sing along to it even though the lyrics are meaningless)... Look it up. ffffs

  • @Adeldee But the Band had always said that Liz Fraser rarely sings in gibberish and that the songs that people think that are meaningless are actually real english words, but Liz just stretched the grammar of the words so they can fit to a song and Liz always said in interviews that some Songs are written in complicated, obscure, and unknown foreign languages from foreign language dictionaries that she couldn't and don't understand.

  • @Mr1991ladarius Hey. I never said I was right or anything... But it is true that she has sung in that style but not everyone can know what the truth really is. Hrmh... I'm just a human and nothing more.

  • Just enjoy the muzak please, you ain't going to hear another vocalist like this in your lifetime :)

  • this what infatuation sounds like

  • if you knew this song, back in the day, and listening to it now doesn't bring a tear to your eye, you just may be an alien.Don't over think it, just listen and make it your own, sound over lyrics. Beauty is beauty, remember this was just a thought at one time. To realize it and create this sound is pure Art.

  • I review the Scottish group's whole discography including their EP's.

  • Of course it's all subject to taste.

  • I lived through the "classic alternative eighties" and yes music was great back then, but there is some great music now. The Angelic Process I had only heard of a half a year ago and they're already in my top ten. There's also: Porcupine Tree Air Formation Ulrich Schnauss A Place To Bury Strangers White Lies Antony and the Johnsons Asobi Seksu Butterfly Explosion Glasvegas Malory Hammock M83 Paper Route Secret Machines Popular music is always going to be bland and "safe" as it's always been.
  • How Could anyone DISLIKE this. I accept and respect they do, but are they perhaps Tone Deaf, Gangster tough guys without emotion. Please someone that dislikes explain your reasoning

  • @scumgod13 Gangster tough guys? If you're referring to rap, I listen to hood shit. Like bottom of the barrel stuff. Very much emotion and unmatched writing talent goes into that genre in fact. At the same time, this is a wonderful song. I like how the artist does not actually use words, hoping to convey something outside of words.

  • @scumgod13 I love the Cocteau Twins, but I think the only main reason why some People dislike it is because they simply don't understand the lyrics (if there are any lyrics in the song). I don't think I could blame the People for the dislike because the Cocteau Twins are very David Lynch-ish because their Music, although very relaxing and ethereal, it's also very complicated because of Liz's Lyrics or lack thereof.

  • @Mr1991ladarius You don't think you can blame people for not liking music because it's too complicated and there aren't easily identifiable lyrics? I can. People who need simply music or dumbed down lyrics are fools. Lazy and simpleminded's nothing to be proud of. Mainstream music today might suck a lot less if great bands like the Cocteau Twins, bands from the past and the present, were celebrated for what gifts they do give, not how they fail to be simple enough or accessible enough.

  • The beginning of this video shows the end of The Breeders - Cannonball video, lol.

  • @NewYorkCityTimes I agree. There were other alternative shows in the 90's that were not of MTV,but I can't remember their names.

  • The Pink Opaque album is in my top ten favorites from the 80's. This song was so beautiful that I didn't care that I had no idea what she was saying, I sang along anyway. This song is pure magic.

  • "Fades in . . . "

  • Comment removed

  • @nevereveranything Miss you John

  • I never tire of this song. It's beauty never fades. Simply gorgeous.

  • This song was, is, will ever be the most mysterious travel. When will you be back Elizabeth? We miss you so much. Thank you for opening up so many unexpected doors in the blackness of my soul.

  • Siempre he pensado que la música de Cocteau Twins es para hacer el amor. = )

  • hey yo word out dore and bali what's fishy and non grimy all over?

  • If there's a soundtrack in heaven then I hope it's M83 , School of Seven Belles or her.

So they all went to the hairdressers where he gives a ' Lionel Blair ' cut ?

  • There is only one Liz, despite the apathy present in the comments below. Long live Liz, may her decibels quieten you forever :)

  • What makes life worth living ? Stuff like this for a start. Listen to it and it's impossible not to feel uplifted !

  • Simon Raymondes old man Ivor was in all the old Hancock (Tony dontcha know) series in the fifties

  • what a brilliant and beautiful song! Kinda seems like they had to get Liz drunk in here own house to agree to do this video...JK, Simon & Robin's crazy haircuts give it even more special meaning to me. I Love it !!!

  • I used to play this 12 inch over and over. Unique

  • @44virus exactly! c.t's give you that euphoric feeling all by themselves. A glass of wine in the hot bath blasting them ( especially 4 cal cafe or treasure) is the most amazing feeling ever. I never get sick of them, she is the most talented lady i have ever heard of!

  • to the 44virus-very much agreed!!!!

  • Definitive Cocteau Twins!

  • nothing can compare

  • f--king awesome

  • The face at 0:35 is scaring the shit out of me!

  • A friend of mine actually suggested that I get high to this music. I told her, I don't need drugs to enjoy something that's already is perfect and makes me happy. Thanks for uploading this song!

  • @the44virus Certainly you're right, but let me tell you, one day, by mistake, I tried weed, and played Four Calendar Café... OMG...!!! Specially OIL OF ANGELS...!!! I'm not gonna say it's better just because you're high, but it could let you appreciate it in a very different way. Like if you are part of the song, and all the sounds are surrounding you, I don't know. If you could imagine something PERFECT turns even better... then... o_O Of course, the choice is always yours. U_U Best Regards!

  • no they dont lee i was 30 i 86 the music was indeed great

  • Aaaahhh...thats better....

  • First Cocteau Twins video I ever saw. I purchased all their cassettes (remember those), imports from England. I still have them. That's hardcore.

  • makes me dream and cry and relax... all at the same time

  • Scotland should be proud of it !

  • Funny. We get older, time passes on, people come and go, but I still come back to this band even today and listen like I did 20 years ago. Timeless.

  • @photojohne absolutely. my wife and i were just talking about this perennial quality of their music... they have been the favourite band of us both for some twenty years going now. nice to see someone else feels the same way. i remember the first time i ever heard them -- blue bell knoll on cassette in 1989... i just was so moved...

  • @photojohne

same as me.... we should praise them very much.....

  • Really great song!! If you like this check out danish act INOUWEE with the song "YOU"

  • My heart blossoms with the peace of eternal love when I listen to the tranquility and majesty that the holy Cocteau Twins bring forth through their everlasting religious music! Thank you forever and ever! Muah!

  • She sings like an angel, it's beautiful.

  • I bet this would sound great arranged for handbell choir.

  • glorious....just glorious

  • Ahhhh.......PLEASE COME BACK !! We NEED you !

  • I really love this video,it's so intimate!I'd like to know where it's been filmed.

  • la classe.

  • In fact... the heaven is where the music of Cocteau Twins is. I float, I cry, I smile.

  • I don't know if cocteau twins wrote the soundtrack for paradise ,

but for many years they were the soundtrack of my life ... * * * * *

  • This melody is killing me. Shoot the mainstream pianist please let guitar and vocals lol

  • LOVE this song. Magic. I met Liz in Atlanta, at the Roxy.

  • great JUST FECKING GREAT!

    GREAT VID

    PS: LOVELY KITTY WALKING ABOUT!

  • Such beautiful sounds by this group!

  • I've been listening to this group for YEARS! I haven't heard anything as origonal since. They amaze me as much today as when I first heard them.

  • There is a Heaven. It is whereever Cocteau Twins music is playing!!!

  • Your words are true and from the heart I concur 1000%. Ms.Fraser has, without doubt, THE most perfect voice. She sings fom her soul, and she passes that onto us mortals. To have whitnessed this ANGEL sing live will be with me always. If you have not heard her sing the Song TAKE ME WITH YOU- words by Alan Rickman, you must find this song on Youtube, and be completely enveloped by HER voice. Simply put...Perfection !!!!!!.

Always a TRUE fan of the Cocteau Twins and Ms.Fraser.

  • @Limmey69 Would you believe they didn't won anything but a stupid grammy? But... who cares about it... all the prizes on earth wouldn't be enough to say them: THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH.... Liz's voice really embraces your soul... Robin and Raymond ads the very depth of the voyague...

  • I'm glad I got to hear this before I died. It has enriched my life. This is one of the first of their songs I'd heard and it's still my favorite (this version specifically). Her voice actually dances in this song. Can you see it? I can. I have.

  • @YourFriendWayne

AT LAST !!!!! I have heard from someone who really, truly feels what I feel, and knows what this GODESS is all about. She is without doubt the most talented, perfect singer ever to grace this earth. I salute you for your comments.

    your friend always.

    Limmey 69.

  • @YourFriendWayne If you go to sleep, close your eyes... and after a while you hear this... don't worry... you're in heaven...

  • @YourFriendWayne The imagery of dance is evoked also to me. I visualize her dancing softly then twirling during the chorus (which I choose to rename "repeated apex" or perhaps less clumsily "peak". This is my favorite production (that I've heard) of my favorite Cocteau Twins song. Kudos to performers (especially to vocalist) and thank you evermuch for my repeated enjoyment of this work.

  • he's afraid of the madness and scared to love in general...

  • Enya once said in a interview that she was influenced by Cocteau Twins, but was more influenced by Liz Fraser's singing style.

  • Back when music was GOOD!!

  • este tema me revuelve el pasado

  • Song to my youth! Lovely stuff! Many Thanx for the vid.

  • I wish they were still around. They are doing good separately but seven so. They were one of those bands that music need to remain different and original. They still would of been good after this much time. They are still good after this much time.

  • 1987 first time introduce to this great band. Mexico

  • The most timeless of all bands

  • if there is a heaven, I hope the cocteau twins are its soundtrack.

  • @almamatters2471 Totally agree - one of my favourite songs of all time

  • @longy12679 agree as well. wish this video is available in stereo remastered. (is "donimo" video available? also one of their masterpieces!)

  • @almamatters2471

I am IN HEAVEN right now!

    Simply Blissful.

    <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

  • @almamatters2471 ..The best comment post!

  • @almamatters2471 ... or Las Vegas.

  • @davidnogoodboyo haha, I get ya.

  • @almamatters2471 ja też !!!

  • I remember this.... so so soooo long ago

  • My first introduction to the Twins....this song had me hooked.

  • @PositiveLastAction You're about 2 decades late.....but it's ever too late

  • elfling what I meant was that this was the first Cocteau Twins song I heard back in the 80's...and it had me hooked ever since! ;-)

  • Tell me your favourite Cocteau song of all time......I'll tell you mine

  • From "Echoes in a Shallow Bay"....it's called "Melonella" Although there are so many others, it's hard to really say that I have one favorite. What's yours?

  • Song to my Siren....

  • This one but also Spangle Maker. Odd too that when I hear these two pieces I have to stop what I'm doing and dance. No matter when, no matter where. People just have to accept I'm being appropriated by God for a few minutes.

And, I'm happy to say, I'm 60 and this music still makes me cry.

  • is this 12" their first release?this song is wonderful by the way...so pretty and gauze-y...

  • Classicccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc

  • This song is everything that still is beautiful in this troubled world. I always think of my wonderful girlfriend Fiona, who is everything to me whenever I play this.

  • As this song fades in at the beginning it always reminds me of a beautiful, warm summer day. That's a nice thought right now as I sit here encased in the ice and snow of Montreal. Happy New Year Aieque, and thank you.

  • best song ever..

IVO thanks, Lisa I love U

  • LOVE this! Love them-

  • A great Cocteaus song (the B-side to this-Kookebura is fantastic too) It's a shame the sound quality is a bit dodgy

  • Cocteau is just a weird spelling of cacatua right? Like the bird? Twin cacatuas? Or were they just directly referring to the French novelist in some way that doesn't make sense but sounds cool?

  • No, they got their name from a Simple Minds song....

  • Hi ,its from the Simpl Minds album Life In a Day.....unfort I some of my friends tried to turn "straight" mid 80's +liked Simple Minds Why /????

  • the phrase comes from a Smiths song

  • No, it's from a Simple Minds song, as someone else already stated.

  • yep, you are right - sorry about that - mental glitch!!

  • dancing circles...

  • surely the oddest production of any LP... my stereo freaked and phased every time i put this on. Can't remember who produced it now...IVO?

  • How many memories...this song...so sweet inside. It was a snowy Xmas on the Alps ...maybe 1986or 1987...

  • Damn I missed this music. Takes me back to some great times. Thanks Cocteau Twins bringing this ethereal sound. And I agree "Wax & Wane" need that track.

  • locos lindos!!!!

linda cancion, la voz es preciosa

  • a TaniTanini - hola de Nueva Zelandia...convengo con usted....voz bonita - la voz es preciosa y maravillosa. Es como la voz de un ángel.

  • they don't sing or do musics like the 80's any more. And music now really sucks.

  • and it'll only get worse in the future!!

    :)

  • @LeeChoonWah I hate this attitude, every old music video I watch the highest rated comment is "there's no good music anymore"

There's plenty of good modern music around. You just need to look harder and broaden your horizons.

Not to end on a downer. This is a beautiful track.

  • @Jerdna3 Exactly. There are many bands out there making music very similar to this to this day, which says something about dreampop/shoegaze. Last.fm and other sites are great tools for finding them.

  • @Naroon201 I know, I have a last.fm, its the same as my youtube account name.

  • @Naroon201 That's because the Cocteau Twins more or less invented shoegazing. They are one of the most influential bands ever IMHO. I have nearly every album plus most of the singles on CD and vinyl.

  • @Jerdna3 I think what a lot of people really mean is that in the day and age when this music was released, it was pretty easily accessible. It wasnt very difficult to find.. I mean, hell, it was on MTV... Now, you have to sift through so much mass produced, regurgitated, mediocre shit to actually find good music. If a band isn't remaking old crap, trying to meld two forms of music that don't belong, or trying to start some revolution just to do it, it se
