  • nice staccato, young lady!!)

  • I'm sure, that you will be the queen of violin XD

  • haha i think the intonation problem was the violin lol but we cant ask more at her age =] niceeee

  • some keys were a bit flat. but at her age, we can't ask more. The way she played shows she really melted into the melody. I wish she will be a master.

  • So adorable child.

I just love her so much.

    Such a treat.

    bless you Valerie!

  • 9? God danmit... This girl has a future of pure awesomeness.

  • is she chinese, korean, japenese or vietnamese?

  • KOREAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol korean

  • For a nine-year old, Val sure does play professionally.

  • Excelente, Valeria es una genio del violin, la admiro mucho, felicidades.

  • Talented!

  • Valerie Kim's music always brings some

magical sparks that makes the music alive.

I can see that she has a very bright future

    in musical career.

    Best wishes! ^^

  • she is quite a challenger!

i wouldn't pick on her intonation. don't expect too much, she is a child. she will grow to be a big musician with her talent. i m sure.

  • I think she has a lot of talent, and I do agree with others that she has some intonation problems, so yes, scales. [: I bet in a few years she'll amaze us with an even better performance.

  • I agree, too. But she is amazing at this age!

  • Esta niña es increíble! Perfecta la interpretación.

  • She plays fearlessly!

  • I prefer the other video of the same piece.

But anyway, Valerie, you're great !!

  • O.M.G! I almost cried soooo much!!!I couldn't do this really good !!!

I hope in future I could do this :D

  • Good!

    This piece is very difficult!

It'd better to you to play concertos a bit easier. Instead of that, you desrve my congratulations.

    :)

  • I agree with the others. If she just practices her scales all the time non stop and etudes. She will be invincible. The piece is way too much for her. The intonation is a biggie...

  • She has strong stagepresence and she's really good for a girl this age. I think most of the pieces she plays are too hard for her and the intonation is not always nice to hear, especially fast parts. In Europe where almost all classical music comes from,I think people are more critical. Children only perform for audience when they play pieces (almost)perfectly, otherwise they play less difficult pieces. I am sure that this girl would play less difficult pieces perfectly.

  • This is going to be my reason and backup for asking my parents to let me take violin lessons...I basically learned by myself and I sound like crap

  • She is very showy and all, and really very good for her age, but it's still out of tune. I think she needs to practice etudes and scales first.

  • I agree with you. She shouldn't have been given this piece yet. Scales and etudes are very important. A really good teacher wouldn't do it this way. It's a pity, because she does has a lot of talent. Watch Shin Sihan perform for. example Kreisler, you can hear the difference.

  • so young so good,

    amazing!

  • My mouth dropped when I heard that first scale. Wow! She is excellent!

  • omg...she's so good! she must have learned violin since she was little! or maybe a violin GENIUS...maybe im overexagerrating...(spelling wrong)

  • darn....

    she's about nine and i'm like 11..

migod! I can't even play that!!

    She's really really goood.

    And i'm like... urghhh

My scales are out of tune!!!

    D*** it!!

  • Can't wait to hear her in five years' time !

  • 0.0

oh my damnn.... shes so goodddd

better than me and my adition is tomorrow T -T

  • She is very good for her age. I am working on that song now, and I'm 15. She did much better than I can on the left hand pizzacato.

  • bravo!!

  • wow.. very showy

  • Bravo! :D

  • Not a good recording quality; violin may be in part responsible. Interesting to note the mute's on. Player is incredible, magnificent, and knows exactly what she's doing. She understands and relates to beauty from her soul, and that's why age doesn't matter. My God, her playing is exquisite!

  • Nt bad-/A BIT out of tune ....

at tis age she can play SARASATE AREADY very PRO IN FACT I TINK I SEEN TIS IS THE SMALLEST AGE TO PLAY SRASATE

  • I AGREE with you it is OUT OF TUNE!

    espicially in teh end

  • Well done! Such awareness and verve. Valerie, you exude passion and love for this. Thank you! The Humberstones

  • omg,she plays so beautiful! so artistic! it's scary that her expression actually better than some professional players. love it , well done girl!

  • Granted that this girl is very talented, her expression is not what I would call professional. She does have stage presence, but her musical expressions are something that have purely been taught by her teacher, it's very obvious. In other words she may not know completely what she is doing.

  • I think it's important to note that everyone begins playing musically by imitating others. Later, musicians develop their own ideas for the music. It works the same with a language - we imitate the sounds we hear until we are comfortable with them enough to form words and sentences as we choose.

I think she played great. Lots of potential here!

  • I'm not doubting her potential, I'm just saying that rosinagurl has given her a little too much credit for having expression that is better than some professional players.

  • Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Who can tell from a 7 minute video clip what's really going on behind that stage. Caezura does make a good point about the communication learning process. Also, go check out Valerie's other videos (especially Salut d'Amour and Bruch) an also watch her playing the piano. Her expressions look like she understands it's part of communicating through music. Just MHO.

  • How can emotional expressions be taught? Do you mean to say that some teachers actually teach acting to kid musicans? It doesn't sound like the right/ethical thing to do. Expressions in music should come from within each indivual, not just an act.
