Well, that's backwards. I see Beat Street has a token white guy. Love & respected by every black person in the movie no doubt. When i was 12 these movies were cool, but now they just look cliche. LMAO.
@HandofDoom01 LOL are you talkin about the muscle bound white dude chewin up beer cans. Yeah that's not really token, that's just par the course. You can always find one of these dudes in the Bronx.

Vintage 1984 clips from Beat Streat and Breakin. The Break Dance movies of the 1980's. Classics. Newcleus' Jam on it is a 80's Hip Hop classic!! PLLLEEEAAAZE LORD BRING BACK THE 80'S!! :)
12 people are sitting on their fat asses, shovelling potatos chips in their gobs, dulling their minds with role-playing games. We're better off without them!
THERE is no way you can compare BEAT STREET and BREAKIN... beat street was a style represinting the east and that style of dace and breakin was showing the style of the west so dont bother they were both great films...it still live on today different place have different styles of dancing
@realmanallen73 Hard to compare both movies in comparison to dancing as it's mainly two different styles of dancing. East coast which thrived in the b-boying and the west which funk styles where created. Both play important roles in hip hop (break) dancing.
Damn... a trip back in time.. this was when cigarettes were under a dollar, gas was 75 cents, Graffiti was just all that, being a latch key kid meant come home, do your homework, and help out with starting dinner and such.... man... what a blast from my past!! How I miss those times! I couldn't breakdance, but I used to enjoy watching it.
Never get tired of BeatStreet. One of the greatest movies..... Break dance forever!!! Bring out the cardboard boxes. West Side PJs of Bryan, TX forever.... Much Love!! (wicky, wicky, wickya)
THIS youth rocked definatly! they had a cool style(not feminine dressed like today) they had a cool dance(breakdance)(not like the fag dances of today just sayin one....tecktonik....)
even kids back then had more cool style and lifestyle in gereral then grown young people today!
its depressing to watch 80s or 90s videos and realize that you will never see and joy this in your real life just cause your a youth in a total wrong time who people are booring cocky and gay(style of clothing)
@latnyid HA...word. Back when we all roller skated, played kick the can and stick ball and took a fist to the face every now and again instead of talking shit on facebook.
fuckin awesome takes me back to my days of playin pop warner football back in 1983 East Valley Trojans that is San Fernando Valley, North hollywood good memories no color lines just good old fun break dancing!
@noaidie lol and just how for shure you fckin know we all came from africa? let me guess your science teacher told you that? science is mostly based on theory. guess you also believe we where all apes at one point. @vidform - best comment ever, you are dam right. i also hate that pseudo-ganster-i´d like to be a bad boy - girls are bitches - shit, this is soooo boring ! :-)
Breakin 1, Beat Street with New York City Breakers and Rock Steady Crew. Breakin 2 sucked though. Damn I miss the old NYC that it was when I was a kid.
Beat Street was filmed in the Bronx NY, Breakin was in California. Still 2 great movies from my break dancing childhood years.
This groove was th' shit. When this came out in the late 70s early 80s rappers were FUN. Today, hip-hop (a hip a hop a hippity hop & you don't stop) has been taken over by a bunch of guys screaming curse words at a bunch of lethargic kids hyp-no-tized by the "bling" of selfish assholes who manipulate their fans into buying their"line of clothes" and other greedy, evil shit. Like subliminally putting demon images in their vids (Rhianna, "Umbrella" & others) back-masking etc.
@justimusprime73 2 FILMS.........."BREAKIN" (SOMETIMES CALLED "BREAK - DANCE") AND "BEAT STREET" - 2 classic hiphop dance films before step up and you got served lol.
Beat Street the king of the beat, I see ya rocking that beat from across the stree. This video is a time capsule. 50 years from now, kids will still watch this video, listen to Jam On It and bust a move..
Been there done that..lived the old school hip hop movement and still doing it for life O.G. Dj MC True B-boy and still going strong..there's no other Dj the way i rock since 1978...Dj King Slice"King of all Dj's'
Back then Rap had rhythm, House was hip, Acid was everywhere, and you were cool if you were just yourself. The styles were weird but, DAMN, it was fun!
this is beast to bboy to this new era is of shuffle and whatever new dance that comes out but workin together breakers will bring out they're cardboard and bring it back to style!
I was a dj about 17 years ago and I remember playing this track all the time. I have no put all the old vinyls on cd's but some of these old 80's songs you have to love. Thanks for the memories. This when MUSIC WAS MUSIC!!!!!
Great Joint Jam on it "wikikiki shut up" was this ever on Soul Train I know that this was hot back east Soul Train was taped in LA and Don was kind of negative against hip-hop and east coast flavor.
I WAS ONE OF THE ORIGINAL B-BOYS IN THOSE NEW YORK CITY CLUBS BREAK DANCING TO SONGS LIKE THIS BOY I WOULD DO SOME NASTY WINDMILLS TO THIS JAM... 1988
This is music people can dance, enjoy listening, relate to! How many of this new kids nowadays actually have bitches galore drive bentleys blow up ferraris. The gun and rims is the funniest thing to rap/sing to wtf! that just shows this new rappers are running out of material..lol. Nothing like the old school i am proud of my generation i had a little of 70's 80's and the end of 90's that when shit went down.
This is beautiful to watch and listen to. This was before people started rapping about their guns and bitches and using the N-word almost religiously in their music. This was before people started wearing their pants 5 sizes too big and drooping around their ankles to expose their underwear. Sloppy. This was before people started wearing those sad, yellow, Timberland construction boots from the '90s. This was before adding gold grills in your mouth with bad teeth. Where did hip-hop go wrong?
@vidform A MOST EXCELLENT QUESTION, the answer is when they killed off Tupac and Biggie and put eminem in place as the greatest rapper...that is what happened!!!!! and the dumb niggas fell for the Ropa Dope again!!!
First rap song I ever heard and I was hooked. My friend and I rented a VHS camera and made a music video to this. The best time of rap...we'll never get that back. Listening to these songs is all we can hope in keeping REAL rap alive. I'm sick of people rapping about drugs, bitches, tire rims, clubs, pimps, money and ever other stupid thing they can think of.
to the people who hit dislike, i know you have to be young....so i can't even get mad at you, because you really have no clue. and to all the young people who likes this i give you much respect for being listening, and having good taste in music. HIP-HOP UNTAINTED
Good ol memories the 80's were the best years of my life. thank you for all the great music. I'm 39 and I still listen to this music, play it at partys and people dance to it even the new generations.
Turbo mesmerized the world with his break dancing a la broomstick. Check for yourself!

to the people who hit dislike, i know you have to be young....so i can't even get mad at you, because you really have no clue. and to all the young people who likes this i give you much respect for being listening, and having good taste in music. HIP-HOP UNTAINTED

Good ol memories the 80's were the best years of my life. thank you for all the great music. I'm 39 and I still listen to this music, play it at partys and people dance to it even the new generations.
