So he was in the middle of a protest...and got knocked in the face by a tear gas canister? I suppose he shouldn't of been front and center in a situation where they were given lawful orders to disperse.
There are many false conclusions in this video, obviously designed to drum up sympathy and support for a movement that has done nothing more than get their asses kicked.
all you little punk ass fucks went to that protest with the goal of attacking and provacating the cops...so maybe shut the fuck up, get a fucking job, and stop being the useless little whiney dirt bags that you've proven to be year after year.
@ShootCriminalsDead your an idiot, the who point of going to the protest was to show to the government that they have to be heard and that they are ready to begin the war.
Im a veteran of the invasion of Iraq. Those people are doing the right thing in being there... seeing people screaming for medics on the streets of america... yep... actually made me cry. Right now, im coughing up lung tissue on a daily basis, VA admits no knowledge of gulf war illness, I black out at random times... woke up in a snow drift the other day and had hypothermia... VA does not cover injuries incurred while unconscious.... they look at "black outs" as being signs of drug use. Thanks
What worries me about the police in every country around the globe is that they seem all too willing to trample their own morale in favour of Law. Imagine what happens happens if those Laws become even more hostile towards the people...
This violates the 1st ever amendment founded by our founding fathers. We have the right to assemble. They weren't causing any physical form of harm in anyway. Just because the law enforcement was anoyed doesn't mean they have the right to fire whatever projectile that is harmful. In about the next 50 years, america will not be a free country most likely...
Notice how police said over and over, clear out because we're about to fire tear gas. And turnip head just stood there like a lump. Guess what happened. DOH TEE DOH.
@BukkakeAdventure Yeah and whatever, I'll be prepared and waiting unlike you with one hand on keyboard and the other on your joystick. Only thing you'll ever shoot will be going into a Kleenex.
There's no such thing as an unlawful assembly unless those assembling are doing something inherently illegal, like violence or theft. But they're just standing there trying to be heard, wasn't that why America was founded? It was founded so that the people may be heard. That is America, This bullshit here is a whole nother story, basically a different country, noone bothers with the old constitution anymore, The only "Constitution" this government answers to is one of fear and oppression
when you have forces that behave this way which appears to be all over the country it would seem to me one might consider protective gear as far as military grade protection then if they want the shit to hit the fan so what !!!! Every person in America should be armed it is the only way we can all be protecting ourselves.
They were all given a lawful order to leave the area. Nobody's fault but their own! Had they left like they were told too he would not have gotten hurt! The Police were just doing their job, and they did a very good job at that!! Next time do what your told to do or face the consequences!!
@1962skinny I hope the next time a cop thinks you're speeding, he pulls you over and slams your face into the asphalt. After all, you shouldn't have put yourself in that position. Right? If you encourage our police to conduct themselves this way, don't be surprised when you see police brutality cases increase. There isn't an excuse for the cops shooting directly at the protestors.
PleasantlyPeanut, Your analogy if flawed in that it is lacking in common sense! #1, A Police Officer wouldn’t slam your head on the ground for speeding. #2, There was an unlawful assembly, the Officers gave everyone fair warning. Some failed to heed that warning and there for faced the consequences. I don’t feel sorry for any of the protestors, they were breaking the law & given fair warning! I am 100% on the side of the Officers. They were doing their job as trained!
@1962skinny You are such a retard. Speeding is breaking the law. It perfectly fits your screwed up analogy that because you feel they were breaking the law, they deserved to be shot in the face.
@PleasantlyPeanut, Do you really believe the Officers intentionally shot someone in the face? You are the retard!! Just like all the protestors, actually believing they have a right to go out and break the law! Really Smart! NOT!
@1962skinny Where do you live - lala land? They also intentionally shot the people who were trying to render aid to him. Are you denying that as well? You also do realize that the right to peacefully assemble is covered in our Constitution? If you watch other videos, you will see the cops put barriers all around then shoot rubber bullets/gas, & beat them with batons. I've watched live feeds. Have you? If you don't know what's going on in your country, you don't have to react, huh.
I am outraged at seeing this. The mayor needs to be recalled and the police force needs to fired. Any citizen that can watch this and not feel outrage just isn't thinking. I don't care if you agree with what Occupy is doing.....you may have something to protest about someday.....do you want to be treated this way?!! I will not EVER visit or spend any money in Oakland because of the way the city has conducted itself.
@mtnman19631997 Scott Olsen, the guy who (probably) got shot was a former Marine (two tours of Iraq), who did have a job before getting brain damage from this incident. The majority of the protesters do have jobs. And the majority of unemployed people are looking for work. Big protest movements like this do not attract lazy, unmotivated "welfare scammers". They attract people who are sickened by, among other things, uneven wealth distribution among equally hard-working people
@mtnman19631997 Shut the hell up and think. I'm sure I pay more taxes that you've ever dreamed of. They have a right to peacefully protest -- no matter if they have a job or have twenty. Every U.S. citizen does. I hope you never have something to protest about if you can't see why something like this should outrage you. You're pathetic to comment here just to put people down and make yourself feel somehow superior. You should be ashamed to call yourself an American (if you even are an American).
Move then.... Don't stand there when warned not to... Shouldn't be to hard to understand.... You live and you learn, maybe he's now learned to move - else he will probably get a deja vu some day.
@kongenoveralle Even if they were told to move, that doesn't excuse the behavior of the police. What it if was your son? Your father? You? Your attitude is what allows officials to act poorly and get away with it. Think twice. It may be you someday.
@PleasantlyPeanut I se no wrongdoing from the police side - only from the demonstrators side. Leave when told or face the consequences and don't whine about it afterwards. Got what was deserved imo.
@KCandBluesDad "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." So the police should shoot at each other. I couldn't agree more.
@KCandBluesDad By your comment, you seem to think that the police acting in any way is fine as long as someone sees it as breaking the law? (Little side advice for you: Read the Constitution.) There is no excuse for the action taken by the police in shooting him in the face or shooting at the others when they tried to give assistance to him. Them not giving assistance to him is actually breaking the law (at least by the police). I only hope that your son never breaks the law.
@KCandBluesDad Yes, YES!! Obey authority blindly and without asking questions! They will always know what's best for us!
Be a good patriot and DON'T THINK, ever! Obey the law, no matter how messed up it is, pay your illegal taxes and be a good consumer, then everything will be just fine!
Maybe y'all shouldn't have been a burden to society. Sucks the poor kid died like that. If y'all protest be a little more organized get a actual point across and don't be annoying little hippies about it.
@btm757 Your comment makes absolutely no sense. So you think the police used unreasonable force on them because the protestors' message wasn't clear? Or they are a supposed burden on society? Stop and think before you post. You look like an idiot and it's bad for America and all of us who have to live here with you.
(Before you go and say I look like an idiot you should check your spelling)
No the "protesters" failed to comply with a reasonable request to leave. Also, before you say that they have a right to be there, which is true, that only applies if they are non-violent and obey the law, both of those things were not followed.
They are both a burden on society soaking up the "free money" that my taxes so graciously gives them and they have no message.
@btm757 Look up protestors. You'll see that it can be spelled either way (-or or -er). Incredible. And, because you were so focused on that (focused can be spelled with one or two s's too, so don't get distracted again), you missed the whole point. The police had no right to take that measure and shoot directly at the protestors and inflict harm. And, what makes you say the protestors were violent? I've seen nothing of the sort. But, don't let facts get in the way of your argument.
Dumb mother fucking cops put a badge on and forget they're people too. That the laws are effecting them, their families and friends. And yet, some of these thong wearing faggots take their job so serious it becomes them against the people! FUCK YOU COPS! YOU DON'T MAKE THE LAW? YOU'RE THE LAW'S BITCH-THE LAW'S SLAVE. BUT YOU ARE NOT THEE LAW!
What police don't seem to understand is that violence toward protestors whips up sympathy for their cause. When an Iraq vet suffers brain damage from a police projectile, suddenly ten more vets are there to replace him. You guys should watch the video titled "Occupy vs. Top 1%" to see how powerful this movement is becoming.
@reader642 Sympathy from who? Bleeding heart liberals? The rest of the country could care less about these occupy ass clowns. I don't live in Oakland but I support the police department there and anywhere else they oppose these occupy pussies. Get a job bum, your college party is over!
@VoiceofReason2012 Never judge a person until you have walked a mile in their shoes my friend. I forgive you for you unskillful comment. I forgive you and hope you will be able to forgive yourself.
I read your comment and felt anger, but I let myself calm down before I posted, and felt compassion, and sadness that you have this anger.
You have the right to feel that way, though it is an unskillful way to go.
@RubberToadstools "I let myself calm down before I posted" ... bro, that is just pathetic. Internet tough guy much?
You couldn't last 5 seconds in my shoes, I've been to places that you would curl up in a ball and cry to mommy about. But you don't see me blaming others for my misfortunes and crying "where's mine"! I got off my ass and got mine and have no respect for those that don't... oh yeah and so has the rest of the country. Find something else to cry about will you!
@VoiceofReason2012 I am not an internet tough guy, I am a Buddhist. When I say I let myself calm down, I mean I cleared my mind and let the frustration subside.
I complement you on your desire of if you want something done you got to do it yourself. That is a good attitude. I do feel that those who do not share that same view might have their own view because they have always been given what they wanted, so they are only misguided. I would help them to learn how to stand on their own.
@RubberToadstools I earned everything I have the hard way, which is why I am not protesting anything. Unlike these ass clowns where mommy and daddy bought them everything and boo hoo, I am going to march and sit and smoke week and rape and not go to work .... cry me a river liberal. Next time just thank me and the rest of us for making sure your family has a roof over its head. My taxes > Your salary.
@VoiceofReason2012 we all are responsible for our own lives. but I know sometimes people just need to be pointed in the right direction. other than that it is up to them.
@VoiceofReason2012 Personally I find more joy in a job where I dont get paid. Like a few days ago I was at the grocery store and I just went out and help with the carts. No reason except I wanted to.
I just find it a shame that the world says you need money. Id personally like to live as a Buddhist monk, with nothing but myself..and finding inner peace.
@VoiceofReason2012 Your voice has no reason to it. "I earned everything I have the hard way, which is why I am not protesting anything." What does earning everything the hard way have to do with your not protesting? There are a lot of things to protest in this ctry right now..even more so if you're paying taxes as you say you are. But, besides that, you just might wake up & realize you have to protest someday. Do you want to be treated like this? Do you feel that it agrees with the Constitution?
@VoiceofReason2012 I am sorry you have a lot of anger though, and I forgive you for your anger. It is a powerful emotion. If you feel like you need to talk to someone, feel free to give me a private message.
When the POLICE tell you to clear the area you best be leaving! Had Scott left the area like he was told to do he would not have been hurt! Most two year olds understand this concept!
@1962skinny the police dont have the power to wage war on PEACEFUL protesters. thats kinda like a main part of what the US has been about for the last idk 236 years. dissent is patriotic. questioning government is patriotic. waging war on peaceful protesters who are exercising their right and fulfilling their DUTY, that is unpatriotic and illegal. and you are part of the problem. oh and also, he was a veteran he volunteered to die for you and me and those cops. they should have saluted him.
@1962skinny I feel that if he was your son, your view on it would be different. He didn't deserve to die, although it was an accident, it still is an unnecessary loss. I forgive the police, but I fear that the police will have a hard time forgiving themselves.
@1962skinny Most two year olds would also understand that mommy shouldn't hit or shoot them in the face even if they don't listen to her. Condoning the police's behavior is just asinine. Besides the fact that they have a right to assemble (see our great Constitution)...... I support that right because I may want to exercise it someday.
if you actually google and watch the video, available on you tube "Footage of Scott Olsen being shot by Police at Occupy Oakland" and actually watch the video you will see the Scot Olsen was hit from behind by an explosive thrown from the crowd, as he FACES the police. The San francisco examiner also follows up the story clearing the police. You only push propaganda. "Vet’s injuries from Occupy Oakland protest not caused by deputies, SF sheriff says" 10/31/2011 SF Examiner You wont look.

The claim is that "This footage is proof that Scott Olsen was shot in the face by police without provocation during the Occupy Oakland march on Tuesday October 25." However, there actually is no proof at all in this video - we never see Mr. Olsen get hit. For all we know he could have been hit by a rock thrown by a protestor.
You should have left when they told you, then this would not have happened. You have the right to protest and express your opinion, not disrupt the normal flow of business or otherwise obstruct people from going about their daily lives.
@bengalsfanaz And that gives the police the right to shoot them in the face and shoot at others when they try to assist the injured? Pretty twisted thinking there. Hope you never have a run in with the type of cops you're creating by condoning their behavior.
CupidStunt .... also, you are the 1%, and you will go down in history as just that. YOU are the problem. The problem will be solved...expect it. and be prepped for it....not that it will help you, much.
The problem will be solved...expect it. and be prepped for it....
I have prayed and prepped for that day all of my life. When you hippy fucks get ready to solve the problem you get in touch with me first. You think this video is bad?
I hate your username - jerbear. How homotastic. I do NOT care what you think about my comment you cunt. Do you think I should care?* This will never happen because I am not a worthless bag of ass that protests and causes probems. I work for a living unlike everyone at the occupy movements.
That was some funny shit. Did you see all of those pussies scatter like the cockroaches they are when the gas canister exploded. HAHA!! And that stupid bitch should have gotten out of the way. He was told to leave and he didn't. Fuck'em.
I like your nick name - cupidstunt. I do NOT like your comment. I bet you would sing a totally different tune if what happened to Scott happened to you pal. Perhaps you should switch the C and St in your nick name around.

Go smoke some dope hippy.
*When you start to answer just stop typing...nobody cares what you have to say...it was a rhetorical question.
@CupidStunt52 fuck you you narrow minded fag, your probably a cop yourself or your bitch ass daddy is one, if a cop tells me to get out of his way in a macdonalds drive thru and i dont and he pulls out his pistol and blows my head off, what your saying is I should have moved,...? no, that stupid worthless "police officer" needs to be locked up for life, fuck the police!
You know what the difference is between your imaginary story and this video is? This guy didn't get his head blow off. Let's just compare eating apples and eating rocks if we are to use your "logic". You need to be locked up for being an idiot.
@CupidStunt52 - I'm not an american but it seems to me in a democracy people should have the right to protest. Having seen the how the police have behaved over there compared to Europe it is pretty clear you live in quite an oppressive society bordering on a police state. I have to ask why would you want to live in a society that attacks its own citizens? Don't Americans always go on about being a free country? These are genuine questions as it seems strange to hear you are happy at oppression.
People have the right to protest, but they can't run wild through the streets like these idiots are. It shouldn't be mind-blowing to hear that the media only tells you what they want you to hear. You won't hear about the rocks, bottles, and debris thrown at police by the "peaceful protesters". The news media in the US is so liberal it is sickening. Police don't just run off and kick peoples' asses. You just won't see what happened prior to the ass kicking.
@CupidStunt52 - I agree the police have a right to act when there is violent public disorder. We are the opposite and allowed full scale riots without acting in the U.K. this summer.
The U.K. follows the U.S. and the actions of a few led to global meltdown and the U.S. needs to bring about change. Remember your great nation came about when some people boarded a ship and tipped tea in the ocean. Even we didn't shoot them in the face! Sometimes action is needed to protect what is right.
@WillShakespeare2007 We're not oppressed. There are easy to follow regulations that we've all agreed upon for protesting. The people attending these protests simply aren't following the regulations. That's all. And besides, police only respond with violence when it's a last resort. These protesters had ample opportunity to leave. They had lots of warning. It was their choice not to listen. The police even said what kind of method they would use to push them back.
@LeBaoBeatha - OK - now take everything you have written and imagine the British applied this to the process of forcefully and violently attacking and removing the protesters at the Boston Tea Party. They allowed that protest to take place and they are considered tyrants in U.S. history. So what does than make your current government? You want to live in a police state fine but remember to never again use the phrase "land of the free."
@WillShakespeare2007 The Boston Tea Party was not a protest in that it was a demonstration meant to be viewed. It was an unlawful act of destruction perpetrated by a group of revolutionary minded men. It was a protest in a completely different way than what is normal today. The British government at the time was labelled tyrannous because of an accumulation of acts committed over a period of time, mainly the terrible lack of representation. An attack isn't 'allowed' -->
--> because it isn't expected. Our current government is flawed, but that's all part of what makes it great. We have the power to change it. Not through violent protesting and force(as was required in the 1700's), but through legal and democratic channels. We vote in who we vote in, and that's how it works. If you don't live here, what's your interest in my country amount to? Not much really. e. e
@LeBaoBeatha Your country has what is called a Constitution. Take a look at it. You'll find what these people were doing is covered in it. The only violence that took place was done by the police. Occupy is very peaceful. (No, I'm not part of them. I just pay attention.) You're going to see just how far that vote gets you. It's not the days of yore anymore and our "flawed" government doesn't just have minor blemishes.

@WillShakespeare2007 People like CupidStunt52 (obviously a play on StupidCunt52) aren't very deep thinkers. They don't know we have a Constitution. They don't realize that condoning this behavior by police may backfire on them someday. They don't think that they may ever need to protest anything so they should stand up for others' rights to do so, even if they don't agree or understand the message. They just don't think.
@PleasantlyPeanut - I agree totally and the irony is that the Boston Tea Party was of course a protest not dissimilar to this which was the catalyst for the American revolution. What these people are doing would be the same as calling the British to shoot the protesters at that protest too. Which in retrospect we probably should have - kidding.
it is always the Jews with their victim propaganda.
actually Niemöller was antisemitic and an ardent German nationalist before Hitler came to power. He even supported Hitler initially. Then he was an ardent adversary of Hitler and therefore was detained in Sachsenhausen concentration camp.
Nobody is perfect.
But adding the Jews to his words is not true. Actually many Jews also supported Hitler initially.
And there were even Jewish generals during the war
Erhardt Milch - chief engineer of the LIftwaffe (the air force), sentenced in Nürnberg to a life-long sentence
Emile Maurice - friend of Hitler form 1919, his driver, he wrote down "Mein Kapmf" while Hitler dictated, he was first SA colonel, he was number 2 in SS (number 1 was naturally Hitler himself).he had a relationship with Hitler's niece - Geli Raubal. this made Hitler angry at him, but they stayed friends.
Stupid ass protesters throw shit like rocks and bottles at police all the fucking time. Cops get paint and probably piss and shit thrown at them too. And that's not a crime?! It's only a crime when a protestor gets injured, isn't it? Hypocrites.
@DawnPatrol21 In Syria they are killing people in their homes on the streets in markets. Protestor or not if you're their you can get hit if you live on that block and a round comes through your house the Syrian government blames the victim. Now when protestors here start getting gunned down and people get hit just for sitting in their homes watching the news it'll be their fault. Yeah stupid protesters the police do no evil right? Guess Rodney King shouldn't have been black.
@THEETERNALHATE Really, the race card too. LOL Progressives and followers of memes like occupy wall street are complete idiots. I understand your support now. HE WAS NOT SHOT BY POLICE. .
While I fully support the occupy movement, how does this video prove the attack was unprovoked? We can clearly see some kind of pyrotechnics flying against the police from the protester's side!
@TheFedUp99 they are accually doing something about all the BS gov corruption, what the fuck have you done with your pethetic little life. your a fucking losser and if I knew who you were I fuckin destory you. what are you goin to do when you find out Mc donolds no longer needs your service and your out a job or if you accually had a decent payin job and you retirement was lost in a bad investment. what would you be doin then, or do you enjoy bein buttfucked by you gov
@XxhateworldwideXx BTW, I'm a pissed off small business owner. I thought my name would give me away.. Here's my 'liked' videos. playlist?list=LLj2l11p54OQWKyy_lmvorJA
I also have OWS: Police Brutality and OWS: Music for a revolution playlists..
wow and i thought shooting protesters with water in cold weather here in korea was a back-step of humanity and history in this time and age. i really hope he recovered.
I am not fooled by you. You guys hide behind GANDHI. He didn't advocate breaking windows, blocking streets, throwing rocks, bottles, paint, and water on police officers. That's exactly why occupy movements are being closed down around the country, tents removed, permits revoked, BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL DAMN LIARS, claiming to be so peaceful, yet subversive, violent, and revolutionaries trying to fool people. It's disgusting and the real 99% are not fooled by all of this.
I work and make products that get shipped to China, you dumb ass. If you are so against capitalism, and not a Marxist, explain. Come out of the closet. Explain what kind of civil war you advocate. What are you waiting for, because your movement is going into the toilet. Read the newspapers. L.A. has shut it down as are many other cities. It's people like you that has burnt the movement out by embarrassing yourselves costing taxpayers millions in damages
Just say you are a Marxist and save us your dribble. Without capitalism, you would be pulling weeds in a tomato patch singing Amish songs and tending to your wounds with leeches.
I don't call people names to make my argument. Nobody who lives under communism is doing fine, but a slave to the government with few rights, and on opportunity to improve your condition. Give me one communist country that has given us any innovations in medicine, science, or business and I will show you a country that stole it from a capitalist country. I wouldn't send my enemies to Europe as the punishment too severe. Your economies are a joke.
"the Oakland police manual forbids police from deploying teargas or flash-bang grenades directly at a crowd of protesters, regardless of what's happening on the street."
"it's a violation of international law to fire on unarmed medical personnel tending to the wounded."
how can u suport this? it doesn´t matter who he is, this is not right
The police have been cleared in this incident because they shot at the ground and not into the crowd. These hippies running to Olsen were hardly unarmed medical personnel. Are you serious? And how would the cops know they had any medical training with the garb they had on. Did you look at them? They would have made matters worse. Are you okay in the head or playing with me?
@Independentsrock medical personnel or not they wear helping him and they throw a flash-bang grenades directly at them cant be justified
"the Oakland police manual forbids police from deploying teargas or flash-bang grenades directly at a crowd of protesters, regardless of what's happening on the street."
The police did not shoot directly into the crowd. Watch the videos. They were shot clearly at the ground. One so close, it must have bounced back up and hit Olsen in the head. The crowd was warned over and over and over again to move back and tear gas was going to be used. The cops did the right thing and did not intend to hurt anyone despite the rocks, bottles, paint and water that had been thrown at them. And it taught the mob a lesson. They stayed in the park the next day
Is this the best you can do? You can't deny the government acted reasonably and any jury would agree. You really love chaos in the streets, you love people who feel they are entitle to march wherever they want even if they block traffic, hospitals, schools, bridges... You would love a world where there is no government, so when you have a disagreement with someone you just take matters into your own hands. Anarchy has never worked. Since the dawn of man, government has existed
@Independentsrock Slow your roll taco, I never advocated anarchy. I just don't like the way the government is held at corporate America's will. It's not what this country was founded upon. And you're right, I do love people that feel entitled to march where they want because breaking the rules when the rules are bent is as American as it gets. It's how all unjust laws were overthrown and how this country came to be. Civil disobedience and shaking things up.
Wrong burrito breath. If you remember your college POLY SCI 101 class, civil disobedience is the costliest act of political change imaginable and a last resort. the 99% are not even beginning to advocate civil disobedience, only the far left radical fringe of OWS are spewing that crap. If not anarchy, if not occupying property which is not yours to do with what you wish, what do you call it? Marxism? Just spit it out and stop hiding.
@Independentsrock Uh...the entire occupy movement IS civil disobedience. And a democratic socialist government in combination with a regulated free market is more what I would like to see but I doubt it'll happen. I like that you didn't acknowledge everything I said though. Classic political move. You're probably a great politician. Once again I'll ask, if it was a movement YOU truly believed in what would you do? If this was a right wing movement and someone got hit by a cop you'd be angry too.
Sorry, I have been attending the General Assembly meetings of Occupy Petaluma. They have been paying the city to rent the park and paid the deposit. How is that civil disobedience? You don't have a clue about this movement. OP comes to city council claiming they are peaceful neighbors and intend on obeying the law. I converse with so many people each day, I only have so much time for ignorant fools. No, if I got hit by a cop, I would apologize the next day for asking for it
Go to the occupy websites like I did and nobody is talking about civil disobedience because they don't want the FBI at their doorsteps. We have an over-regulated free market and that's the problem. Obama and is socialist policies are the blame for a weak economy and high unemployment. We can't afford to lose more companies to move overseas and take their capital and jobs with them. If it is a free speech movement, all views should be represented, but it is NOT.
@Independentsrock We lost most of our jobs overseas during Clinton and Bush's terms. NAFTA hurt this and Mexico's economy tremendously and is a big cause for illegal immigration now. Besides when you have a free market let run wild they'll go wherever they can and do whatever they want to make a higher profit including sending jobs overseas and ignoring workers rights. There's a lot of bureaucratic BS that should be cleaned up but I'd hardly say the market is "over-regulated."
@Independentsrock Well congrats to Occupy Petaluma but not every one of the sites of protests are rented and paid for. What you see in this video is civil disobedience and it's happening all over the place. On the contrary sir, I'd say YOU have no idea about this movement. Or perhaps you're just too caught up in your Draconian economics and complacency to care. Like I said, you don't like the movement, I do. You can't say anything to change that. No insult, statistic or vitriol will change it.
@Independentsrock And the fact that you bow so easily to authority is disturbing. There's too many people just willing to take it. Maybe you've never been treated wrongly by a police officer so you don't really know how to judge it but I know I have and I know plenty of people that have in the neighborhoods I've grown up in. Constant racism, hypocrisy, and brutality. Not all cops are bad but damn the rest of them are trying like hell to make sure everyone thinks they are.
As a city leader who got elected for shaking up the establishment, I don't advocate what you are suggesting. If you want a full mouth load of pepper spray, keep it up. It's in your future because society will not allow a small rag tag bunch of hippies and misfits to block streets, block bridges, block access to college classrooms, block entrances to nuclear facilities, and block Wall Street. It's all been a big show and the curtain is about to close really hard. Look at L.A.
@Independentsrock First you make products that go to China...now you're a city leader? Are you also a masked crime fighter by night? How exactly did you "shake up the system?" And I stand by what I said. Block bridges, block streets, block access to corporate America. This is how things change. They took fire hoses to civil rights protesters and would sic dogs on them. My guess is you would have said the government was with in it's rights with that too when it was going on.
@Independentsrock You don't believe in what occupy stands for. You don't believe in civil disobedience. That's fine...but you're not going to convince any of us otherwise. You're wasting your time. We know what we believe and to us its "right" to you it's "wrong." Time will tell what history will say about it. In the meantime we're striving to make sure it says we were justified.
@Independentsrock It's tragic Olsen got hit, he was warned to move and that's what happens when you don't follow orders given by police. It's collateral damage...but if there was a movement you truly believed in and something you felt that you needed to stand up for would you move when the police told you too, or would you stand your ground? I'm willing to bet if there was a movement, and during one of their protests a cop hit someone out there you'd be just as pissed as we are.
@Independentsrock It's the double standards we live by. The fact that we're all split on what is "right" and what is "wrong." We all have basics, don't kill, don't steal, don't bang your friend's wife. But when it comes to things like politics and economics just to name 2, we tend to group up with fellow idealists. And if you fall outside of those beliefs you're "wrong." Ultimately there is no right or wrong. Only what you believe and stand against and those who win or who lose.
He is a PERSON just like all the others. If it had been SOMEONE ELSE, no one would be DISTRACTED by the fact that he HATES the Marines. STOP LOSING FOCUS YOU IDIOTS, THIS IS NOT ABOUT ONE MAN.
OORAH, BROTHER MARINE SCOTT OLSEN, GET WELL BRAVE OATH KEEPING PATRIOT, SEMPER FI.. DON'T LET THE US MARINE CORPS BECOME THE US MARINE 'CORPSE' ANY LONGER, GET OUT OF WARS OF OCCUPATION AND BACK TO THE US CONSTITUTIONAL RESTRAINTS TO PREVENT THESE WARS OF PROFIT AND DEATH TO "MILLIONS"....NO MORE WARS & TAXATION WITHOUT THE PEOPLES REPRESENTATION AND/OR VOICE...DEFENSE ONLY, PERIOD!
Obviously, you don't know Olsen owns the website: I HATE THE MARINES dot com. He is also a Jew hater and I am no Jew. These Marines who have been kicked out of the Marine Corp just kill me. Google Scott Olsen Pundit. I guess some people are so stupid they have even sent Olsen money. Unbelievable.
He got what he deserves. I know if the cops tell me to disperse or they will fire chemical agents........I'm out there
mikg1414 2 days ago
So he was in the middle of a protest...and got knocked in the face by a tear gas canister? I suppose he shouldn't of been front and center in a situation where they were given lawful orders to disperse.
There are many false conclusions in this video, obviously designed to drum up sympathy and support for a movement that has done nothing more than get their asses kicked.

Thanks

Every person in America should be armed it is the only way we can all be protecting ourselves.
gunnut104 4 weeks ago
They were all given a lawful order to leave the area. Nobody's fault but their own! Had they left like they were told too he would not have gotten hurt! The Police were just doing their job, and they did a very good job at that!! Next time do what your told to do or face the consequences!!
1962skinny 4 weeks ago
@1962skinny I hope the next time a cop thinks you're speeding, he pulls you over and slams your face into the asphalt. After all, you shouldn't have put yourself in that position. Right? If you encourage our police to conduct themselves this way, don't be surprised when you see police brutality cases increase. There isn't an excuse for the cops shooting directly at the protestors.
PleasantlyPeanut 4 weeks ago
PleasantlyPeanut, Your analogy if flawed in that it is lacking in common sense! #1, A Police Officer wouldn’t slam your head on the ground for speeding. #2, There was an unlawful assembly, the Officers gave everyone fair warning. Some failed to heed that warning and there for faced the consequences. I don’t feel sorry for any of the protestors, they were breaking the law & given fair warning! I am 100% on the side of the Officers. They were doing their job as trained!
1962skinny 4 weeks ago
@1962skinny You are such a retard. Speeding is breaking the law. It perfectly fits your screwed up analogy that because you feel they were breaking the law, they deserved to be shot in the face.
PleasantlyPeanut 4 weeks ago
@PleasantlyPeanut, Do you really believe the Officers intentionally shot someone in the face? You are the retard!! Just like all the protestors, actually believing they have a right to go out and break the law! Really Smart! NOT!
1962skinny 4 weeks ago

I will not EVER visit or spend any money in Oakland because of the way the city has conducted itself.

mtnman19631997 1 month ago
@mtnman19631997 Scott Olsen, the guy who (probably) got shot was a former Marine (two tours of Iraq), who did have a job before getting brain damage from this incident. The majority of the protesters do have jobs. And the majority of unemployed people are looking for work. Big protest movements like this do not attract lazy, unmotivated "welfare scammers". They attract people who are sickened by, among other things, uneven wealth distribution among equally hard-working people
sonny1408 1 month ago
@mtnman19631997 Shut the hell up and think. I'm sure I pay more taxes that you've ever dreamed of. They have a right to peacefully protest -- no matter if they have a job or have twenty. Every U.S. citizen does. I hope you never have something to protest about if you can't see why something like this should outrage you. You're pathetic to comment here just to put people down and make yourself feel somehow superior. You should be ashamed to call yourself an American (if you even are an American).

AkatsukiPR0 1 month ago
@KCandBluesDad By your comment, you seem to think that the police acting in any way is fine as long as someone sees it as breaking the law? (Little side advice for you: Read the Constitution.) Them not giving assistance to him is actually breaking the law (at least by the police). I only hope that your son never breaks the law.

(Before you go and say I look like an idiot you should check your spelling)
No the "protesters" failed to comply with a reasonable request to leave. Also, before you say that they have a right to be there, which is true, that only applies if they are non-violent and obey the law, both of those things were not followed.
They are both a burden on society soaking up the "free money" that my taxes so graciously gives them and they have no message.
btm757 4 weeks ago
@btm757 Look up protestors. You'll see that it can be spelled either way (-or or -er). Incredible. And, because you were so focused on that (focused can be spelled with one or two s's too, so don't get distracted again), you missed the whole point. The police had no right to take that measure and shoot directly at the protestors and inflict harm. And, what makes you say the protestors were violent? I've seen nothing of the sort.
WillShakespeare2007 2 months ago
@WillShakespeare2007
CupidStunt52 2 months ago
@CupidStunt52 - I agree the police have a right to act when there is violent public disorder. We are the opposite and allowed full scale riots without acting in the U.K. this summer.
The U.K. follows the U.S. and the actions of a few led to global meltdown and the U.S. needs to bring about change. Remember your great nation came about when some people boarded a ship and tipped tea in the ocean. Even we didn't shoot them in the face! Sometimes action is needed to protect what is right.

@CupidStunt52 They're also crapping on cruisers and public sidewalks.
LeBaoBeatha 2 months ago
@WillShakespeare2007 We're not oppressed. There are easy to follow regulations that we've all agreed upon for protesting. The people attending these protests simply aren't following the regulations. That's all. And besides, police only respond with violence when it's a last resort. These protesters had ample opportunity to leave. They had lots of warning. It was their choice not to listen. The police even said what kind of method they would use to push them back.
LeBaoBeatha 2 months ago
@LeBaoBeatha - OK - now take everything you have written and imagine the British applied this to the process of forcefully and violently attacking and removing the protesters at the Boston Tea Party. They allowed that protest to take place and they are considered tyrants in U.S. history. So what does than make your current government? You want to live in a police state fine but remember to never again use the phrase "land of the free."
WillShakespeare2007 2 months ago
@WillShakespeare2007 The Boston Tea Party was not a protest in that it was a demonstration meant to be viewed. It was an unlawful act of destruction perpetrated by a group of revolutionary minded men. It was a protest in a completely different way than what is normal today. The British government at the time was labelled tyrannous because of an accumulation of acts committed over a period of time, mainly the terrible lack of representation. An attack isn't 'allowed' -->
LeBaoBeatha 2 months ago
--> because it isn't expected. Our current government is flawed, but that's all part of what makes it great. We have the power to change it. Not through violent protesting and force(as was required in the 1700's), but through legal and democratic channels. We vote in who we vote in, and that's how it works. If you don't live here, what's your interest in my country amount to? Not much really. e. e
LeBaoBeatha 2 months ago

PleasantlyPeanut 4 weeks ago
@PleasantlyPeanut - I agree totally and the irony is that the Boston Tea Party was of course a protest not dissimilar to this which was the catalyst for the American revolution. What these people are doing would be the same as calling the British to shoot the protesters at that protest too. Which in retrospect we probably should have - kidding.

@PleasantlyPeanut First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

There are no Jews in the original poem . Just because Pastor Niemöller was arrested in 1937 , before the mass problems of the Jews started in 1938.
1. communists
2. social democrats
2. unionists
4. pastor Niemöller
bgtop9962 4 days ago
@bgtop9962 Ah okay, I came across several versions of it but it still stands :)
Calempaine 4 days ago
@Calempaine
it is always the Jews with their victim propaganda.
actually Niemöller was antisemitic and an ardent German nationalist before Hitler came to power. He even supported Hitler initially. Then he was an ardent adversary of Hitler and therefore was detained in Sachsenhausen concentration camp.
Nobody is perfect.
But adding the Jews to his words is not true. Actually many Jews also supported Hitler initially.
bgtop9962 3 days ago
@Calempaine
And there were even Jewish generals during the war
Erhardt Milch - chief engineer of the LIftwaffe (the air force), sentenced in Nürnberg to a life-long sentence
Emile Maurice - friend of Hitler form 1919, his driver, he wrote down "Mein Kapmf" while Hitler dictated, he was first SA colonel, he was number 2 in SS (number 1 was naturally Hitler himself).he had a relationship with Hitler's niece - Geli Raubal. this made Hitler angry at him, but they stayed friends.
bgtop9962 3 days ago
@Calempaine
So actually the SS was created by a Jew - Emile Maurice.

Your economies are a joke.

how can u suport this? it doesn´t matter who he is, this is not right
herrabjoggi 3 months ago
@herrabjoggi
Independentsrock 3 months ago
@Independentsrock medical personnel or not they wear helping him and they throw a flash-bang grenades directly at them cant be justified
"the Oakland police manual forbids police from deploying teargas or flash-bang grenades directly at a crowd of protesters, regardless of what's happening on the street."
herrabjoggi 3 months ago
@herrabjoggi

@Independentsrock You really love authority, rich people, and the government don't you?
fullmetalfunk 3 months ago
@fullmetalfunk
Independentsrock 3 months ago
@Independentsrock Slow your roll taco, I never advocated anarchy. I just don't like the way the government is held at corporate America's will. It's not what this country was founded upon. And you're right, I do love people that feel entitled to march where they want because breaking the rules when the rules are bent is as American as it gets. It's how all unjust laws were overthrown and how this country came to be. Civil disobedience and shaking things up.
fullmetalfunk 3 months ago
@fullmetalfunk
Independentsrock 3 months ago
@Independentsrock Uh...the entire occupy movement IS civil disobedience. And a democratic socialist government in combination with a regulated free market is more what I would like to see but I doubt it'll happen. I like that you didn't acknowledge everything I said though. Classic political move. You're probably a great politician. Once again I'll ask, if it was a movement YOU truly believed in what would you do? If this was a right wing movement and someone got hit by a cop you'd be angry too.
fullmetalfunk 3 months ago
@fullmetalfunk
No, if I got hit by a cop, I would apologize the next day for asking for it
Independentsrock 3 months ago
@Independentsrock
Independentsrock 3 months ago
@Independentsrock We lost most of our jobs overseas during Clinton and Bush's terms. NAFTA hurt this and Mexico's economy tremendously and is a big cause for illegal immigration now. Besides when you have a free market let run wild they'll go wherever they can and do whatever they want to make a higher profit including sending jobs overseas and ignoring workers rights. There's a lot of bureaucratic BS that should be cleaned up but I'd hardly say the market is "over-regulated."
fullmetalfunk 3 months ago
@Independentsrock Well congrats to Occupy Petaluma but not every one of the sites of protests are rented and paid for. What you see in this video is civil disobedience and it's happening all over the place. On the contrary sir, I'd say YOU have no idea about this movement. Or perhaps you're just too caught up in your Draconian economics and complacency to care. Like I said, you don't like the movement, I do. You can't say anything to change that. No insult, statistic or vitriol will change it.
fullmetalfunk 3 months ago
@Independentsrock And the fact that you bow so easily to authority is disturbing. There's too many people just willing to take it. Maybe you've never been treated wrongly by a police officer so you don't really know how to judge it but I know I have and I know plenty of people that have in the neighborhoods I've grown up in. Constant racism, hypocrisy, and brutality. Not all cops are bad but damn the rest of them are trying like hell to make sure everyone thinks they are.
fullmetalfunk 3 months ago
@fullmetalfunk
Independentsrock 3 months ago
@Independentsrock First you make products that go to China...now you're a city leader? Are you also a masked crime fighter by night? How exactly did you "shake up the system?" And I stand by what I said. Block bridges, block streets, block access to corporate America. This is how things change. They took fire hoses to civil rights protesters and would sic dogs on them. My guess is you would have said the government was with in it's rights with that too when it was going on.
fullmetalfunk 3 months ago
@Independentsrock You don't believe in what occupy stands for. You don't believe in civil disobedience. That's fine...but you're not going to convince any of us otherwise. You're wasting your time. We know what we believe and to us its "right" to you it's "wrong." Time will tell what history will say about it. In the meantime we're striving to make sure it says we were justified.
fullmetalfunk 3 months ago
@Independentsrock It's tragic Olsen got hit, he was warned to move and that's what happens when you don't follow orders given by police. It's collateral damage...but if there was a movement you truly believed in and something you felt that you needed to stand up for would you move when the police told you too, or would you stand your ground? I'm willing to bet if there was a movement, and during one of their protests a cop hit someone out there you'd be just as pissed as we are.
fullmetalfunk 3 months ago
@Independentsrock It's the double standards we live by. The fact that we're all split on what is "right" and what is "wrong." We all have basics, don't kill, don't steal, don't bang your friend's wife. But when it comes to things like politics and economics just to name 2, we tend to group up with fellow idealists. And if you fall outside of those beliefs you're "wrong." Ultimately there is no right or wrong. Only what you believe and stand against and those who win or who lose.
