my dream would be something that i love (a dragon)
if this was to ever become possible i would be More then happy to give my services to help others in Anyway i can..i just don't want to leave this world :(
This is bullshit, people lived then became old then die, that's the circle of life, that's the law of nature to keep the life balance. Why the hell must we trying to interfere it, imagine that if all of us just keep on living forever then what will our planet become ? Not planet EARTH anymore but planet HUMANS. And there will be consequences, HUGE consequences. You can try to live longer but PLEASE don't try to be immortal.
@dreamVN What consequences? I mean first: If we could live on in machines we wouldn't be dependant on the planet earth anymore. We could harness the sun to store and use the energy to power our bodys and evolve into space to travel to new earth like planets (we are about to find such a planet or planetS) or build a mars station etc. Second: You complain about the unnaturalness of machines. But what ever nature is bringing up STAYS nature. Future machines are gonna be nano biological anyway!
@TheRadicalStartover So we live on in machines so where will ours kids live ? Or will we even have kids ? And if we have kids then the population number will increase non-stop because none of us are going to die ? Is that a good vision for you ? Atleast no for me. And I am not complaining about technologies, it makes our life esier and there is notthing wrong with that.
@dreamVN Lets face the truth: The earth isn't going to be a pleasant place for all times and speaking in evolutionary terms, mankind has a very small window to get things going. If we stay on earth mankind is doomed to die wich would be the end of our species. What would you suggest to do to maintain our survival? We need to become independant of our biological bodys, maintain our genes and spread out into space to find new worlds someday. Distance / time wouldn't be a problem anymore!

Wow. He's way, way off. If he thinks UNprofitable technology offers any future for mankind, how will we pay for it? Sheesh, he's just way off! Didn't he hear about the failure of state planning? He's from Russia; he ought to know state largess is no path to the future.
@MrCropper I don't see how he's necessarily wrong, though. It's easier to develop and sell a combustion vehicle than the Chevrolet Volt, which is a fine piece of progressive technology. Unfortunately, it has some short comings, and its far easier for people to jump on its current shortcomings than laud it as a blueprint for future technologies. It's not a perfect analogy, but I think it's true. Same idea with alternate energy technologies.
Honestly, I think this guy is thinking too small and not enough about the implications of the GRIN technologies.
The Singularity will obviate much of what he's saying. He statement about "bringing a new generation of scientific and technical elite" is one example. This is old school thinking. product and technical cycles are already too short to think like that. With the advent of the coming technologies, there wont be time for any "new generation" to come to the table.

@dreamVN Btw: Earth's population is already growing exponential wich means there won't be enough space for all of us anyway.

What's so appalling about being a brain in a pot? If you are free to roam the interwebs, why be dragged down by having to care about a body?
6006133 3 months ago 9
@6006133 Agreed. The physical body is the biggest limitation of mankind. Imagine if geniuses like Einstein is still alive.

@awdrifter3 Einstein is a fraud... But imagine if Nikolas Tesla was still alive. ;>

@awdrifter3 Death is sad and not necessary. I don't see anything noble with diseases ravaging people or our brains going through a cellular death.

It's great but they should have chosen someone with a better accent to speak about this. This guy is really struggling with the words.
