Sorry, dumb question from a non-trucker, but what do people mean when they say sliding the tandems etc. I've been hearing it a lot. Just trying to pick up on things as this line of work interests me, maybe several years in the future though.
@AnotherSchmoe It is for the weight distribution of your load. Each axle by law can only have so many pounds of weight. Sliding the wheels on the trailer help to balance the load. 80,000lbs. spread over 3 sets of axles. 12,000lbs on the steer axle 34,000lbs on the drive axles and 34,000lbs on the trailer tandems. for a combine gross of 80,000lbs. That is why we must get scale before entering a weight station. The weight on your bills can be wrong. They won't get a ticket you will.
My respect to this lil man, came from a long distance to learn and teach how to do things in trucking business.I'm about to get into trucking and so far in my humble opinion this the guy to follow.Congrats Ro!!!!
I worked for US Xpress for about a year and 95% of the loads they gave me were already a day or so late I agree with everything Ro said though. I liked it there though and had no complaints at all.
whoever the dude that films you need to go into production damn dude i've watched alot of your flicks on youtube and there great! alot of info and great advice.
This gentleman knows his stuff when it comes to green. I wish I would've heard him a long time ago about saving income. Because I lost my job in Aug of 09 I had to use all my savings because I wasn't getting unemployment, and I had invested a lot into my home, and it would've been stupid to have foreclosed. So I give Ro tall respect.
@mthw25 At least you had put money in the house and not just blew it man. i got a feeling you will be alright. I am glad you didn't foreclose, I think a lot of people are making a mistake foreclosing because today, they are upside down (as if prices will never go back up). well that depends if they bought it at an inflated cost or not. Prices won't go up to where they were (shouldn't have been there) no time soon but they will not stay where they are now either. They will ease up moderately.
I like Ro because he's positive and honest! That's the same my friend says, if you can manage your money and know how to save then it's a job where you can make money and be happy. Good interview with Ro! In the words of Ro, "Keep on trucking & have patience".
Great video.
