Thanks for the comments on the paint job. I served with 314 in that timeframe. Wasn't one of the original painters but that was the timeframe I was in the Corrosion Control (Paint) Shop and we had to maintain the digi pattern, it was a pain but obviously from the comments you guys like it :D

Welcome to my life. I live just a few miles north of KNKX aka Miramar. I also fly out of Montgomery field where our airspace boarders theirs. Its pretty sweet turning downwind and seeing a C-130 or F-18 just a mile or two north.

Welcome to my life. I work on f/a 18 hornets, and seeing 10-20 take off at a time isn't unusual. Having worked with both VMFA-121 and VMFA-314 (Green and Black Knights respectfully) and a number of other Marine Squadrons, I still can't get enough.

Haha I remember that day perfectly!!! I live about a 2 minute walking distance away from Scottsdale Airport. I just came home from school and heard a really loud jet take off and I was like Holy shit!!! So I went in my backyard and watched with my dad. The noise was deafening!! I remember the last two the best because they flew directly above my house and you could actually see the pilots' helmets. It was the coolest thing I've probably ever seen, and literally the loudest thing I've ever heard.
