I grew up in Bellingham WA, but as soon as I was released from high school I moved to Hawaii. It is awesome, people have real family values. You don't have to be related by blood to be in the 'ohana. Ohana IS a verb. Not to mention the weather is great. At first some people who have lived in Hawaii all of their lives don't want to warm up to strangers because they think that you have no family values coming from the continental US culture, but they are still friendly and will give you a chance!
@TheLogicJunkie People are really laid back to the extreme. "mainland" attitudes are not well tolerated. They hate self important people. anywhere but Honolulu were there are a lot of people from the mainland. There is some prejudice against white people at first... just tell them that Hawaii is occupied and should be it's own nation and they will like you fine. Don't say "hi" say "ALOHA", It is really important to give hugs as a greeting, NO HANDSHAKE UNLESS IT IS BUSINESS!
@TheLogicJunkie There are a lot of Asians here, Honolulu is about 70% Asian, last time I checked. The food here is amazing! Hawaii celebrates Asian Holidays. Chinese new year is a HUGE celebration, boys day and girls day from Japan.
@TheLogicJunkie Asian culture is a big part of the island culture, a lot of the food, art and traditions. Lots of mixed families and people of multiple ethnicity. You can for sure get a job if you can speak English and any other Asian language.
@TheLogicJunkie Well, not to worry, everyone speaks English. Hawaii is a great place to live, it can be on the expensive side. The homes are smaller here. The military is not so great either. But the people, the weather and the land are all wonderful. People are also overly helpful, and refusing their help is not considered polite, it is seen as arrogant. lol that took getting used to when I first moved here.
@missunbounded Yeah, I know a guy stationed in South Korea, and he says that the way the American military treat the natives there is pretty shameful, too. I'm just so tired of there always being a goddamned bully on every block.
@TheLogicJunkie It is not about the skin color for them so much, it is the attitude that a lot of Americans have and they come to expect it. They really value humility and kindness. You would get along fine. Plus, you would not be a short guy here. You would be average height. (-:
@missunbounded True... I'm not enormously short, but I'm just below average. But being that America is a Germanic nation, if you're not six feet tall here, the quality of your life is for shit if you're a guy.
@TheLogicJunkie In a culture obsessed with beauty being only slightly below average height can seem like a big deal. Things are screwed up everywhere from the westernization of every culture. Here it has been delayed a few decades maybe, or maybe it is the Asian and Hawaiian influence that makes this place so much better that everywhere else in the US. And if you are done with America there are lots of people here that consider Hawaii it's own nation. Anyways, seriously consider.
@TheLogicJunkie It is very easy to make friends, even in the city of Honolulu, I even had too many to keep up with. People here are on "Hawaii time" because you never know who you are going to run into and need to "talk story" with. You run into people you know everywhere, so you can't ever be in a rush. You will look stupid if you walk really fast everywhere you go. Downside: the military has a huge presence, Upside: every one hates them and their attitudes. lots of anti-gov ppl
@TheLogicJunkie I am a student. There are some opportunities here, depending on what you like to do. Or you can like to do new things (-: Hawaii has a way of changing peoples interests and hobbies over time.
Okay, okay -- I'll do another. It's just that my old laptop with the firewire port finally died after five years, and I just haven't liked my new equipment. Also, I moved back to the east coast and my whole routine just got thrown all off.
Hey man, I have grown up here in the pacific NW and lived here all my life. Have nothing against any race or culture.
I have had my own experiences and observations about the people here and else where.
One thing I know for sure is that people used to the sun do not like to come here to the gloom. It's true that the gloom makes you have more melatonin in the brain and you get depressed or fall asleep all the time.
I love the gloom. Long Beach WA is beautiful with it's wind and gloom!
many people say that you "get used to the rain/cloudiness" but I don't think so. I've only just stumbled upon your account here on youtube but I concur with much of what I've heard you say so far. I'm in Vancouver, BC btw... The culture & people are pretty much the same as in Seattle and in many ways even worse. If you can imagine, I actually find people in Washington ALOT more friendly than here.
@Int3rlocutor Hmmm... thanks for that info. Have you ever been to Kelowna? I've heard it's beautiful there, but I don't know anything about the people.
Also, I wanted to visit Boise, Idaho, at some point.
That's a first, actually. Throughout my life I've heard a lot of different things. When I was very young and much skinnier, I was told Matthew Broderick. And who I look like seems to change with my weight, as it goes up and down.
I'm from Los Angeles and moving as little north as the San Francisco area has showed me how closed minded west coast people that don't get the sunshine everyday can be in general. People tell me to say things like "hella" to fit in. Dude, you should have just came back to LA and lived near the beach. Much more friendly, warm and while looks are an issue, no one will try to force some dumbass slang on you to fit in. I'm going back first chance I get.
@TheLogicJunkie No, but I've heard good things about Santa Cruz. I'll check it out, but for me it's too damn cold up here. I'm stuck in this area for at least another year though.
As soon as you said "clink" I knew it was a hard drive failure. I wouldn't return to that computer shop. Hard drive failure being as common as it is should be one of the first guesses when someone complains of a clinking sound as It is the most common mechanical part failure on a computer.
You're right... And I did end up buying a new Western Digital hard drive for it, and the problem was solved. But then it lasted maybe a year more, and then stopped working entirely. *L*
And do you know what? It's nothing against you, personally, but I don't think you ever will be assimilated. The Pacific Northwest -- with the possible exception of Seattle -- is just like that: their culture stresses a quietly fanatical "locals only" mentality, and if you didn't grow up there, forget it. And I do believe that Portland is the worst of the worst for having that attitude.
@TheLogicJunkie I experienced similar things in Seattle. Of course much of it was related to me being a targeted individual, but I found it harder than usual to break in socially at all. People are more aloof and clannish. If you google "Seattle Freeze" youll find other transplants to Seattle have noticed this. Hope Florida is going well for you.
@randy0987 I'm not much surprised by what you say -- I've read similar things about Seattle in the meantime, too, and heard the same from other people who've actually lived there.
Pacific Northwesterners seem to very much have a "glorious master race" mentality about themselves, and I suppose that they view outsiders coming in as "contaminants" which sully their perfection or something.
thank you for your views on this. The gov. is now generating a new 'cash for flesh generation' those who still have blood in their veins have long battle
I'm not just saying this to agree with the post but the weather is horrible here. I have been hibernating for months now in the deepest darkest hole of the world. Being solar powered doesn't work here.
YAY! It is so good to hear from you. You know what is truly funny? I moved to the Pac Northwest in Oct.! Yeah, but I fit right in because I am one of those gloomy unfriendly types of which you speak. HAHHAHA! Go the rain!
I would not be agreeing with you so whole heatedly if I had not experienced the North West's "hospitality" first hand. We took a vacation and headed up the coast to Oregon. The South most part was no problem, but the further North we went the more unfriendly glances were cast our direction. The rudest person on the whole trip was the woman behind the desk at a hotel at Winchester Bay. Unbelievably rude and her business relies on tourists.
Dude, seriously... You have no idea how much I respect your judgment. If YOU of all people say negative things about the Pacific Northwest, then I now feel very reassured in my own judgment.
Now that I realize where you were I can understand a lot of your negative outlook at least when it comes to people. Hope things are looking up for you now that you are out of the area.
You respect my judgment? You are in real trouble. LOL!
Ugh -- you have no idea what I went through up there, for over three years. And you just got a taste of how they treat short-term visitors; imagine how they treat people who they think have moved there.
...And, yeah, I'm a lot happier back down here in Florida. California was great, too. But no more PNW ever again!
I will say that there are parts of PNW that I still want to visit and maybe move to someday, but it would be the southern part LOL! I love Brookings Oregon. They are used to Californians there and for the most part are pleasant. But, you must consider I am happily married and rarely "go out" for social reasons, so could live almost anywhere :-)
*L* Well, let me say that I am very attuned and averse to the whole "creepy" factor, and the least creepy place along the beach, in my opinion, was Newport.
I moved back to FLA early July also, back in Brevard County again. Could be worse, could still be in north New Jersey. Jersey is nice in the summer and early fall and the weed is good but other than that really it sucks.
I moved back to Florida from Northwest New Jersey ( bout 80 miles from the big city) in early July. And holy shit I realize why I was so bipolar homicidal and suicidal. Cold weather and being an an environment away from people you don't know sucks, not to say I had hella friends to begin with as it is, but the two or three good ones I did have I missed quite a bit, and even just running into local business owners of stores you frequent and people you grew up around brightens your spirits.
So you're happier being back in Florida? Brevard County is pretty cool -- I've never had trouble meeting people in Cocoa or Merritt Island. Volusia County, on the other hand, is a hostile hellhole.
Did you know Florida population has declined for the first time since 1946? Keep the videos coming! I know u have a big list and so do we if u run out.
Just thought i'd let you know youtube are no longer informing me when you put up a video as i'm in the UK i'm guessing youtube has been regionalized wow florida is awsome well in winter make lots of video's eh show us around florida please oh & make a spam list and put me on it so i know you have released another vid as i enjoy listening to you man you talk sense yeah and we need sense or at least some deep thought now days so please keep it going man ok.
I think the same holds true for the far southwest. Most of us venerate clouds and rain. The sun is overbearing and omnipresent. It's blinding and hot as hell. Humans prefer variation in any climate, I'm fairly certain.
It's that kind of woeful lament like the toys on the Island of Misfit Toys, thinking that Santa Claus has forgotten all about them again.
LA does to seem to be more welcoming about different kinds of people; but the bad side of that is that it also attracts losers, like the kind who spend 18 years in the Navy and then get thrown out for stealing (no name mentioned)! These type of people then come to LA to leech off of someone else. LA attracts 2 types of people: workers, and feeders (leeches).
Yeah, I've heard such conflicting things about Charlotte -- some reports say it's the best place to move, and some reports say it's an economically-decimated hellhole.
"..... -- some reports say it's the best place to move, and some reports say it's an economically-decimated hellhole."
It's both...correction ONE of the best places to live. Also, since a decent amount of the major bank were founded in NC (Bank of A.), a lot of jobs were built around them and ended up struggling heavily.
For 2 months in a row Charlotte had the highest unemp. rate in the country. But, nice place to live though!!!
But, then again, I've come to realize that when circumstances become competitive, the first thing that tends to happen is clan and ethnic affilications tend to rule. And, in NC, which is largely old English ethnicity, hispanics and other visible minorities are the first to get squeezed out.
If you're latin, you might usually be much more socioeconomically secure in more latinized areas such as Miami, Tampa, New York, Texas, or southern California.
yea i had a friend that lived there for a few months and she hated the way ppl were there
i'm not to far in your book (hey i been busy) but watching this now is way diffrent, but did you know you can flip to any page in your book any paragraph and its negative?
Yeah, you're probably right. I was in an overpowering mood to identify important negatives when I wrote it. The title itself identifies the biggest negative of all. But I've been giving serious thought to having my next book either more of an autobiography, or a positive strategy book for life.
Well, it's beautiful, but I -- and many others I've talked to -- have found it to be a tough nut to crack into, both socially and occupationally.
And, apparently, that's more than my imagation. A native of the area has since confided in me that one of the former governors of Florida, Tom McCall, instituted a statewide catch-phrase in 1971 that has held up ever since:
"Come visit us again and again. This is a state of excitement. But, for Heaven's sake, don't move here to live."
...Or, in other words, "Welcome to Oregon. Now go home."
And this is no idle joke, although it's typically said with a soft-spoken, pretty voice and twinkling smile. They really do mean it, and they are quite heartless about implementing it to the fullest. Unless you are a part of some corporation whereby you take a position here, you can probably forget making your start here, unless you can believably claim an unbringing here.
But don't take my word for it -- come try moving here yourself. I feel pretty confident that you'll see what I mean.
A big problem here, however, is homelessness. Apparently the cultural architects of this area decided to try to camouflage their extreme territorialism with a facade of "humanitarianism" and "tolerance", and apparently it has worked too well, because the outside world apparently took them at their word, and started coming here. So their camouflage campaign has backfired.
Florida may have its hurricane season but Washington State is like being in an aquarium.. unless one wants to live in that little house with the bubbles coming out of the chimney it probably wouldn't be the right choice for most people..
Yes, it is very, very wet. And with no sunlight most of the time. And when you factor in the predominant ostracizing cliqueyness, both socially and occupationally, it's no wonder it was named the most depressing city in America.
Yes, well, it is very hot. But there are parts I actually like, such as the greater Tampa area and Tallahassee. I'm not such a big fan of other cities there, though.
Yes, this has a built-in mic. And I notice that if I go into the Orb program and shut down all the auto-sensing features, it works beautifully. What's more, I actually dislike the way the auto-settings make the image look, so I disable them and do the settings myself, and I think it looks a lot better.
So you want to move back to florida? I hate it here, Jacksonville sucks, i'll be going to pensacola to go to UWF, but i don't know if that will be any better.
I just did a Google search and, apparently, he was the Pittsburgh shooter.
Anyhow, I had a look at the guy's picture, and he doesn't look hideous or anything. And, what's more, he's tall, slender, and apparently made good money as an accountant, so that should have qualified him as attractive by females.
HOWEVER, he was an accountant, and if occupations are any indication of personality, I'm guessing he was something of a socially-inept, nit-picking isolate. And that's never healthy.
Mind you, this is all just my supposition here, but I like to at least form tentative working theories on things whenever possible.
The very nature of accountancy itself ideally involves the utmost in openness, integrity, and exactitude -- qualities which have always been the most needed, yet, sadly, the most reviled, because they force us to keep honest, which most people loathe.
Although his grammar and spelling were atrocious, if he was a meticulous person in real life, well...
...that may have pervaded all aspects of his life, and made him repellent to not merely most other human beings but, for our purpose of discussion, females in general.
Beyond even this, my stereotyped understanding of accountants is that they are a very timid, uptight, and socially-uncomfortable group of people, even if perhaps approached by others, such as females.
More than anything, I think the problem is that our culture demands individual alienation and isolation, and it hurt him.
I would say that the guy desperately needed some sort of socialization and communication therapy, in order to help him make the segue from his own world, to that of those around him. But the uber-clique that dictates our culture and mental "health" system doesn't go for that at all -- it only goes for the dehumanization approaches such as pharmatoxins, behavioral coercion, and the lovely mindfuck that is religion. These are what we are presented with, as options for "help".
In short, I think that, given the rules of this culture as dictated by the neurotic agenda of the uber-clique, both he and all those females at the workout club, were very likely doomed, sadly.
It's all such a waste. A constant waste that never ends, because the uber-clique has already factored the endless loss into their grand equations by which they govern this vast motherboard of tragedy that is our technocultural society.
I have some bad news though, I was recently votebotted, and was wondering if you, or anybody can help. I've recently reuploaded my newer videos but I still need help with my older videos. Any help is appreciated.
Great video, I love your channel. You have REALLY interesting videos... are you going to upload new ones? Best regards.

I think the same holds true for the far southwest. Most of us venerate clouds and rain. The sun is overbearing and omnipresent. It's blinding and hot as hell. Humans prefer variation in any climate, I'm fairly certain.
thehmmmm 2 years ago
Yeah, that's true. Dissatisfaction is a part of life.

Cool! I had to move back here to Miami from Charlotte, North Carolina two months ago. The economy had put a tight squeeze on me financially.
Hey, what part of Florida are you going to? Maybe we could bump shoulders at some point if you come this way!
ElGato2448 2 years ago
Yeah, I've heard such conflicting things about Charlotte -- some reports say it's the best place to move, and some reports say it's an economically-decimated hellhole.
*shrugs* I don't know.
TheLogicJunkie 2 years ago
ElGato2448 2 years ago
So, Charlotte hasn't recovered from that?
TheLogicJunkie 2 years ago
Things "seem" to have leveled out, or at least it isn't plummeting like it once was.
ElGato2448 2 years ago
But, then again, I've come to realize that when circumstances become competitive, the first thing that tends to happen is clan and ethnic affilications tend to rule. And, in NC, which is largely old English ethnicity, hispanics and other visible minorities are the first to get squeezed out.
If you're latin, you might usually be much more socioeconomically secure in more latinized areas such as Miami, Tampa, New York, Texas, or southern California.
TheLogicJunkie 2 years ago
I'm black, but what you said still holds true!
ElGato2448 2 years ago
Yeah, that makes sense. Even black people tend to fare better in cities that are more Latin-friendly, it seems to me.

yea i had a friend that lived there for a few months and she hated the way ppl were there
i'm not to far in your book (hey i been busy) but watching this now is way diffrent, but did you know you can flip to any page in your book any paragraph and its negative?
toadenk 2 years ago
*L* You think it's all negative?
TheLogicJunkie 2 years ago
no but it is very negative charged
toadenk 2 years ago
Yeah, you're probably right. I was in an overpowering mood to identify important negatives when I wrote it. The title itself identifies the biggest negative of all. But I've been giving serious thought to having my next book either more of an autobiography, or a positive strategy book for life.
TheLogicJunkie 2 years ago
Glad to see that your back. Sorry to hear about the Pacific Northwest, I always kind of wanted to move there.
slashrules88 2 years ago
Well, it's beautiful, but I -- and many others I've talked to -- have found it to be a tough nut to crack into, both socially and occupationally.
And, apparently, that's more than my imagation. A native of the area has since confided in me that one of the former governors of Florida, Tom McCall, instituted a statewide catch-phrase in 1971 that has held up ever since:
"Come visit us again and again. This is a state of excitement. But, for Heaven's sake, don't move here to live."
TheLogicJunkie 2 years ago
...Or, in other words, "Welcome to Oregon.
TheLogicJunkie 2 years ago
But don't take my word for it -- come try moving here yourself. I feel pretty confident that you'll see what I mean.
A big problem here, however, is homelessness. Apparently the cultural architects of this area decided to try to camouflage their extreme territorialism with a facade of "humanitarianism" and "tolerance", and apparently it has worked too well, because the outside world apparently took them at their word, and started coming here. So their camouflage campaign has backfired.

Florida may have its hurricane season but Washington State is like being in an aquarium.. unless one wants to live in that little house with the bubbles coming out of the chimney it probably wouldn't be the right choice for most people..
muzalot 2 years ago
Yes, it is very, very wet. And with no sunlight most of the time. And when you factor in the predominant ostracizing cliqueyness, both socially and occupationally, it's no wonder it was named the most depressing city in America.

Yes, well, it is very hot. But there are parts I actually like, such as the greater Tampa area and Tallahassee. I'm not such a big fan of other cities there, though.

what possessed you to move back home?
blocity 2 years ago
its most likely the web cam.
i got a new webcam with a build in mic and man it laggs like hell.
i old cam i have with no mic records video just fine
so i just got a headset so i can talk to friends over skype ..so maybe if up run the cam and mic on 2 in puts that may fix it
FalconNeko 2 years ago
Yes, this has a built-in mic. And I notice that if I go into the Orb program and shut down all the auto-sensing features, it works beautifully. What's more, I actually dislike the way the auto-settings make the image look, so I disable them and do the settings myself, and I think it looks a lot better.

I was wondering if you had any thoughts on George Sordini?
heyyoubeindthebushes 2 years ago
I just did a Google search and, apparently, he was the Pittsburgh shooter.
Anyhow, I had a look at the guy's picture, and he doesn't look hideous or anything. And, what's more, he's tall, slender, and apparently made good money as an accountant, so that should have qualified him as attractive by females.
HOWEVER, he was an accountant, and if occupations are any indication of personality, I'm guessing he was something of a socially-inept, nit-picking isolate. And that's never healthy.
TheLogicJunkie 2 years ago
Mind you, this is all just my supposition here, but I like to at least form tentative working theories on things whenever possible.
The very nature of accountancy itself ideally involves the utmost in openness, integrity, and exactitude -- qualities which have always been the most needed, yet, sadly, the most reviled, because they force us to keep honest, which most people loathe.
Although his grammar and spelling were atrocious, if he was a meticulous person in real life, well...
TheLogicJunkie 2 years ago
...that may have pervaded all aspects of his life, and made him repellent to not merely most other human beings but, for our purpose of discussion, females in general.
Beyond even this, my stereotyped understanding of accountants is that they are a very timid, uptight, and socially-uncomfortable group of people, even if perhaps approached by others, such as females.
More than anything, I think the problem is that our culture demands individual alienation and isolation, and it hurt him.
TheLogicJunkie 2 years ago
I would say that the guy desperately needed some sort of socialization and communication therapy, in order to help him make the segue from his own world, to that of those around him. But the uber-clique that dictates our culture and mental "health" system doesn't go for that at all -- it only goes for the dehumanization approaches such as pharmatoxins, behavioral coercion, and the lovely mindfuck that is religion. These are what we are presented with, as options for "help".
TheLogicJunkie 2 years ago
In short, I think that, given the rules of this culture as dictated by the neurotic agenda of the uber-clique, both he and all those females at the workout club, were very likely doomed, sadly.
It's all such a waste. A constant waste that never ends, because the uber-clique has already factored the endless loss into their grand equations by which they govern this vast motherboard of tragedy that is our technocultural society.
