Welcome to the fandom that is AKB48. hehe The girls are just giving their 2008 New Years greeting. Some said, "Happy New Year" and others said, "yoroshiku onegaishimasu " which has several literal meanings like "Please treat me well" or "I'm looking forward to working with you." AKB48 is a Jpop girl idol group. AKB stands for Akihabara 48 and 48 is the *technical* amount of girls in the group. (But really, there is a LOT more if we include the other project 48, but lets not go there yet haha). First Team A was created, then Team K, and then Team B. Each team consists of 16 girls. Akihabara is where their theater is located in which they have almost daily performances by the different teams. Just ask if you have anymore questions!

u-huh...so it's a play of words: AKihaBara A, K, B, are the teams and 48 is the amount of girls in each group...i'll just stick to the..JPOP IDOL GROUP WITH A NAME THAT HAS A MEANING :P hehe.. yoroshiku onegaishimasu (^_^)
