'Every little bird flies over the rainbow- tell me why can;' I?' Heard it a thousand times, but when John sings it, it suddenly has a poignancy and tragic sadness that in never had before!
Oh wow. Until now, my favourite rendition of "Over the Rainbow" was John Martyn's version from the album "Sapphire". Actually, that was the song that made me seek out Martyn's music in the first place, since I heard it on the radio and had no idea who the singer was.
But this live version? Literally brought tears to my eyes. I wish I had discovered him earlier and seen him in concert.
Thanks, mighty890, for letting us enjoy this performance.
mesmerising...jesus this guy suffered but christ he came through big time while dragging some kind of tradgedy behind him...superb..when i wish upon a star i'll thinkof john
@brit1958dec I know exactly what you mean. He does it to me too every time I listen to this track. Genius isn't good enough to describe the man or his music.
Thank's for the Music Big Yin!

What was it about the man that made us all, who had seen him performing live, diminished when he died?

I must agree. In fact I think that the whole "Foundations" concert is his best live performance (that I've seen, anyway).
