John Legend obviously overshadowed the voice of the unknown guy in this comparison and to be honest it somehow enhanced the sound of the cracking and sometimes out of tune (sintonado) voice of M. Carey...I could say the reverse with the case of R. Velasquez singing this song. Her voice range is better, more versatile and she blended her voice better with the mediocre voice of her duet. John Legend obviously overshadowed the voice of the unknown guy in this comparison and to be honest it somehow enhanced the sound of the cracking and sometimes out of tune (sintonado) voice of M. Carey...I could say the reverse with the case of R. Velasquez singing this song. Her voice range is better, more versatile and she blended her voice better with the mediocre voice of her duet. It would be interesting to hear them switch partners!

I think Regine did a cover of this song earlier than Mariah. The audio clip of Regine here is from her concert in 1999/2000 with Gerard Salonga. Mariah's video clip with John Legend is from an event in 2005.

Regine is incomparable to Mariah in terms of versatility of voice and performances. She never lipsynch on her entire career. I had witnessed it on one of her invited performanance when she was really sick, she just take losenges on stage but when she sung you could hear the power of her real voice.Mariah was caught lipsync many times on her performances, that is shameful for an artist. Both of them are great performers and deserves title but Regine is much more deserving with HONOR and RESPECT.

This two artist from other continents had achieve a lot to their music career,
Regine Velasquez is Asian or Asia's SongBird; she had a international offers but she declined this offers,Miss Saigon and Recording in U.S.A but she declined,if she want to invade the hollywood she can long time ago but spare her time and shared his talent to her own country is the biggest achievement to her thats why she stayed in Philippines.
Mariah Carey is hollywood artist no doubt she is huge!!

i love the voice of regine here very calm and natural and so very solemn unlike mariah her voice very big and cannot sing well live. but regine OMG powerful voice but sad to say she is luck of exposure in international scene. but here voice is really perfect like michele legrand said only 2 in the world for him had a great voice barbra streisand and regine v.

yeah i wanna you to tell me how many songs mariah covered compared to regine.mariah will not cover all whitney or celine songs..but this regine coverd allmost all mariah songs..is that wierd..regine..if u r such talented artist..get yur own songs or write your songs instead cover hundreds of other singer songs..make yur songs popular if u want to be an international artist..

theres nothing special about regine's voice it sounds like so many artist in the philippines. Also regine is "a no one" don't compare her to Mariah who is so much more successful and popular around the world. Did I mention Mariah's voice is sooo much better too..
